Whoopi Goldberg Dings Rachel Bilson For Reverse Slut-Shaming Men: 'Why You Bitching?' — WATCH
A mid-morning conversation in which we learn far too much about The View co-hosts' thoughts on sex? Must be a day ending in y.
The topic at hand: Rachel Bilson's recent assertion that men of a certain age should have a certain number of past sexual partners, and co-host Whoopi Goldberg's vehement counter argument.
During Thursday's Hot Topics segment, the show played a clip of an episode of the Hart of Dixie alum's Broad Ideas with Rachel Bilson podcast in which she discusses sexual histories. "This is going to sound, like, so judgmental. But if a dude's in his 40s and he's slept with, like, [only] four women... It all depends," Bilson said in the snippet. "Maybe he's been in, like, decade-[long] relationships, which is fully respectable," she added, later acknowledging that "It's not fair for me to say, either way."
Goldberg reacted with incredulity as to why Bilson would feel that way. "I think it's very odd that [Bilson] is concerned that he's had any sexual partners," she said. "Why is it your business? It's not your business."
She went on to point out that social standards around sexual behavior have changed over the years. "Men, traditionally, were taught to have many sexual partners. That is how it was. Men could go and do whatever they wanted to do, and women were not supposed to. [But] that has been shifting... So now this is happening, and you're mad? I don't understand! [If] he's happy with you, and you're having a good time, why you bitching?"
Co-host Joy Behar chimed in: "It's really not the quantity. It's the quality of the four. If just one of the four could located my G-spot, I'm all in." OK then!
