The Umbrella Academy Renewed for Season 3 at Netflix
Another eventful and/or traumatic trip through time awaits The Umbrella Academy. Netflix announced Tuesday that its comic book adaptation has been renewed for Season 3.
Just like the two seasons before it, The Umbrella Academy‘s third go-round will span 10 hour-long episodes. Production is slated to begin in February in Toronto.
Season 2 of the drama — which is based on the comics by Gerard Way and Gabriel Bá — picked up immediately after Number Five helped his family escape the apocalypse… only for the siblings to get scattered across a three-year period in 1960s Dallas.
In the sophomore finale (spoiler alert!), the Hargreeves managed to stop the apocalypse altogether and get back to 2019. But that led to the creation of a new timeline — one in which Sir Reginald hasn’t died, he’s the founder of the Sparrow Academy instead of the Umbrella Academy and, most shocking of all, Ben is alive and well (read our full recap here). TVLine readers gave both the finale and Season 2 overall an average grade of “A.”
The Umbrella Academy‘s cast includes Elliot Page as Vanya, Tom Hopper as Luther, David Castañeda as Diego, Emmy Raver-Lampman as Allison, Robert Sheehan as Klaus, Aidan Gallagher as Number Five, Justin H. Min as Ben and Colm Feore as Sir Reginald. They are all confirmed to return for Season 3, along with sophomore addition Ritu Arya as Lila. Series co-creator Steve Blackman will also be back as showrunner.

To merely call the umbrella Academy an emo X-Men is not to do it justice. Unlike its gory and graphic -though also excellent-pseudo “kissing cousin’ The Boys, this Brilliant and exciting program has an underlying sweetness and sadness which makes the action and adventure all that more Affecting to the viewer ..so glad that it has been renewed and hopefully it will go on for many many more years

I tried to get into this but gave up after the 3rd episode. It was a tad boring to me. Does it get better?
Around episode 5 is where we just couldn’t stop. It did take a while to get into it, but once we were in, we were IN. And Season 2 was fabulous!
episode 3 is exactly where I gave up, too. but I started watching again because my friends all kept saying it was so good. coincidentally, after episode 3 is where it really starts to get good, so I’d give it another shot if I were you.
I did, and I don’t regret it!
It depends on your tastes, of course, but I found it very silly, shallow, and felt it was mainly held up by the music and one or two engaging characters. There were some plots I was interested in but found them to be sadly underdeveloped. All emotional resonance sucked out by zany OTT spectacle.
I did finish season one, but I was so bored by season two I gave up after a couple episodes. If you didn’t like the first three episodes, I doubt you’ll enjoy the rest…but who knows? I’ve given up on shows before only to come back to them and absolutely love them.
This show is a blast ! Glad to see it continue !
Yes! Love this show. The first season was good, but the second was AMAZING! Can’t wait til the third season. They should’ve just renewed it for another 3 seasons…lol.

It is weird that Netflix waited so long to renew a show that seems to be pretty popular. But rather late than never!

I’ve done all of Season 1 and 2 but this show just doesn’t excite me at all. Season 2 in particular was just a drag. The concept is good but I feel the pacing of the episodes is really off.
