The Irrational's Next Episode Won't Air For A While — Here's Why

There's a completely rational reason that The Irrational won't be on tonight: There are no more episodes ready to air.

Last week's hour of the NBC procedural, titled "The Real Deal" (read a recap here), was the last scheduled installment, TVLine has confirmed. (UPDATE: Get some good news, and return date.)

The recent Writers Guild of America strike, as well as the Screen Actors Guild-American Federation of Television and Radio Artists strike, halted production on the primetime drama. Now that both the WGA and SAG-AFTRA have reached deals with the Alliance of Motion Picture and Television Producers, that clears the way for production to restart; there's no word yet, however, on when that will be or when subsequent episodes will air.

The Irrational stars Jesse L. Martin (The Flash) as Dr. Alec Mercer, a professor of behavioral science who is an expert on the irrational ways in which human beings tend to act. He serves as a consultant to the FBI — via his ex-wife Marisa, who is an agent — on baffling cases. Meanwhile, he's trying to figure out who was behind a decades-old church bombing that nearly killed him and left him permanently scarred.

In a recent interview, showrunner Arika Lisanne Mittman told TVLine that the bombing mystery will wrap by the end of Season 1. "We're building toward a couple of episodes that are going to see that storyline front and center," she said. "I think there will be a satisfying, interesting resolution then."
