The Conners is hitting the ground running in Season 2 with regard to Becky’s pregnancy, sending the mom-to-be into labor in its first episode back. [pmc_inline_gallery]
ABC has dropped the first promo for the Roseanne spinoff’s upcoming sophomore season (premiering Tuesday, Sept. 24 at 8/7c), and it features footage of Lecy Goranson’s alter ego in the throes of a rather difficult birth, as Darlene and Jackie look on helplessly. The recently leaked title of the episode — “Preemies, Weed and Infidelity” — hinted at complications for the new arrival. And showrunner Bruce Helford is now confirming it.
“The baby is going to be born prematurely,” the EP tells TVLine. “Becky is already worried about her capabilities as a mom, and the [premature birth] triggers all kinds of guilt, because she was drinking when she first got pregnant — when she didn’t know she was pregnant.”
It doesn’t help that the baby’s father, Emilio, will remain MIA after getting deported in the finale. “He’s still in Mexico,” Helford confirms. “So Becky doesn’t have that support.”
As we previously reported, The Conners‘ second season will consist of 19 episodes, a dramatic increase from Season 1’s 11-episode haul.

Will someone please tell me why can’t any of these shows that have women pregnant just have a normal, healthy birth? Every single show has to have the baby either being born premature or has to be an emergency C-section because the baby is in trouble…
Agreed. The premature baby storyline was already done with Harris.
Drama, DaveB, Drama. It’d be pretty boring if every baby born on every show was born without anything dramatic or even tragic happening, not to mention unrealistic as any nurse from the Baby ward at a hospital could tell you. Besides, there have been plenty of babies born on TV where everything went fine. The original Roseanne – Jackie’s baby. Friends – Ross and Rachel’s baby (minus the baby being breach – a very common “complication”), the triplets Phoebe had for her brother and Monica and Chandler’s twins they adopted in the final episode. Reba – Cheyenne and Van’s daughter and Barbra Jean and Brock’s son. Those are just to name a few. I get what you mean, though, but TV has to elevate things a little for entertainment value. It’s like my Grandma used to complain all the time about how the couples on her “stories” (soap operas) were never happy or together very long without something happening – a fight, drama, infidelity, etc – but if they were all together and happy all the time, it’d be pretty boring to watch.
I want to like The Conners, I just wish they’d lay off the drama and make the show funny.
People can y’all stop all the criticism. Is there nothing that satisfies? Everyone I know and myself are enjoying the show. They are doing a great job.
I am just asking what ever happened to the baby Roseann had after DJ. Are they going to address him or her on the show
In the new season, Roseanne explains what happened to Jerry, who would be in his twenties by now, while the family says grace at the table. “Please watch over our son Jerry who’s on that stupid fishing boat, where apparently they don’t get phone calls,” Roseanne says. And that’s that — for now.
Looking good 👍
Wont watch without Roseanne
I agree…what happened to forgiveness? She apologized….
Get another Roseanne! This is not
A family anymore, it a mix of what
Someone else once made perfect!
