Scorpion Cancelled at CBS
Beware, Scorpion fans, this is gonna sting: CBS has cancelled the geek-driven drama after four seasons, TVLine has learned. The series — which closed out Season 4 last month with 5.1 million total viewers and an all-time low 0.7 rating — was conspicuously missing from the network’s renewal spree three weeks ago (which promoted us to downgrade the series’ prospects from “safe bet” to could go either way).”
Scorpion‘s demise brings to 20 the number of broadcast series put to rest since Thursday.
Loosely based on the life of computer wiz Walter O’Brien, Scorpion — which aired Mondays for its entire four-season run, first at 9/8c but most recently at 10 pm — premiered in 2014. It starred English actor Elyes Gabel, Smash alum Katharine McPhee, X-Files‘ Robert Patrick American Pie vet Eddie Kaye Thomas, Being Erica’s Jadyn Wong and relative newcomer Ari Stidham.

That was a horrible end to the series.
it was a strange ending it was they new it was over. Maybe they will make a TV movie to see what happens next I will miss all the characters

Hi Scorpion fans! I know that ive watched all 93 Scorpion episodes at least 93 times each. They were the only thing i watched during the covid 19 lockdown, other than the virus updates. So glad i bought them all! I agree with my co-fan that the should make a moviie pdate, but only as a predicessor to SEASON 5!!

Same here Wanda – my wife and I watched this during lockdown and were very disappointed with the cancellation. I can only compare this poor decision to the cancellation of Person Of Interest. Just plain ignorance on the networks behalf.
It’s so disappointing that CBS does this,why not giving and interesting end to Scorpion at season 4 if there is no season 5,this really sucks😔😔🥺,this was my favorite series of all

Only to find that there is no season 5.
All i wanted is walter and Paige to be happy…..netflix bring season 5 out!!!
They are mostly absurd, with some even worse. Network television is really pretty awful anymore. I’ve found myself more interested in true crime or outdoor adventure.

I really want a final season that ends well, and not in a heartbreaking cliffhanger. I loved this series.

It’s because networks are not cancelling outright as much anymore, so they leave it to a one fell swoop at the end. It gives shows more time, but it makes it much more of a blood bath when they have to make those decisions what to give a second shot, and what to lose. SCORPION was screwed by the timeslot. It was never a 10 p.m. show. And yet the show played with fire and did a cliffhanger type finale that will now go down with a lot of dissatisfied fans!

Scorpion always resolves it’s cliffhangers before the season ends. They’ve been doing it since season one where Walter was literally hanging over a cliff.

Mark D. is correct. There are no more episodes left in the season. The finale aired several weeks ago. It seems the showrunners unfortunately did what the showrunners of Lucifer did—they wrote a cliffhanger with the hope of renewal, and renewal didn’t happen.
But, why does it mater what time it’s on when the majority of people DVR it?!
It matters because of advertisers. CBS doesn’t want you watching it on DVR a few days later, because you are likely skipping past the commercials.
It’s not that they don’t want you to DVR it they want you to watch it with their CBS streaming platform which still is not accurately reflect of accounting be worshipping going bring meals and readings virtually every show in this country is taking a hit about 25% because so few people are watching it when it comes on it’s working venient to do it later and if you are using a DVR even if you’re able to skip past the commercial CBS is still making money from the cable company. Not to mention many of them still feature commercials anyway so she’s using the free service we have to include like who your television provider is.

WELL I guess another reality show is coming….fml….why cancel a show that has 5.1 mil viewers, that’s still good regardless of demographics. They need to rethink this one and make at least a 2 hour finale

Out of all the comments, I relate to this the most. It wasn’t real, what they did was impossible, but it was vaugly correct and light hearted and lovely smooth to watch. This genre is a dying breed that make people Happy
Thank God, most of the shows i like are on The CW, because they are barely cancel anything. Has to be a hard time for fans of other Network shows.
Same. I realized a couple of years ago that most of what I watch is on the CW too. Maybe subconsciously it feels safer to get attached, though I’m still a little bitter about Ringer and Secret Circle.

Same. I’ve lost one show this cancellation season (so far). Meanwhile, all of my CW shows, even the low-rated ones, are coming back. This is why I canceled my Hulu subscription as soon as they lost the CW shows.
Not surprised. We’d watched every episode and just felt that it had lost its way.
It should have stayed focused on the cases … once it got into Cabe’s legal troubles and then the absurd Paige-Walter-Florence triangle nonsense, it didn’t feel like Scorpion anymore.
Really like that it was different, that it found a place for humor that worked, and that it wasn’t afraid to be absurd when absurdity was called for. But when shows stumble these days, it’s hard to be given the time to get back on track
Yeah, I’ve watched them all, too, and I agree with you. I think the overall story was the evolution of Walter, but he was taking too long to evolve. Real time doesn’t work on TV. It’s like watching somebody trying to find a parking space for an hour – it’s reality, but it’s frustrating and boring.
Of course, being unable to find a parking space saved Meadow Soprano’s life

I swear am not happy with this cancellation, but Wat if this was for better so that we won’t hv the biggest heart breaks like if Paige and Walter didn’t get back again in d next season or scorpion separated for real till Walter dies? That will be a major heartbreak.. I loved this movie till the last episode of season 4, I couldn’t sleep, I was so mad! But it’s well, let’s hope for the Best anyways..
Agreed, the addition of Florence (although I love the actress & the character) right after the will they/won’t they romance of Paige and Walter was resolved happily did not help this show one bit. I wonder if the fact that the two actors had ended their real-life romance caused them to go to the writers and ask them to break up Paige and Walter. In any case, I’m very sorry to lose this show. With all the recent cancellations, I suspect I’ll have a lot more free (non-TV) time this fall.
Why do the writers keep ruining shows with the pointless side romances. Paige tells Walter “I’d like to walk on the beach without a marine biologist course” Then she didn’t know Walter. But she did. Her son, too. If that was what she wanted she was lying the whole time too. I got sick of the too much information into fertility of the other couple, and Sebastian–it was your fault Florence didn’t look your way why be such a boob. That fight was stupid and the utter meanness of Paige saying We got that job, nanny, nanny was sad. Sad and ugly fight and it was all none of their characters. I was hoping Paige would say “Oh, you went to that lecture! Oh thank you, I felt so bad about LYING that I wanted to go ad that then it got cancelled” “Gosh I love that guys work I bought the book, too” Well next time I’ll speak up so we don’t all have to LIE!”

So 2 of the 3 I’ve been worried about are now cancelled…Rise and Scorpion. Sad. And what a downer of a way to end a series! Now I’m just waiting for Criminal Minds. The “safe bet” on the scorecard isn’t making me feel any better.

I am really hurt that Scorpion and Lucifer have been cancelled those are two of my all time favorite shows! Now what am I going to enjoy watching on CBS and Fox channels I am truly disappointed in whoever believe is good television anymore or who brings in the best ratings it should be what the people like and enjoy watching!
I agree totally. Two of my favorite shows. Especially loved Lucifer. I blame the writers and producers for the demise of Lucifer. During the first season we got to actually See some of what Lucifer was capable of, being the Devil and all. Devil eyes,Devil face, Wings,bulletproof, and throwing people across the room effortlessly, holding them off the floor, etc. The second season we did not see Half of that anymore. This third season, barely a Hint that Lucifer was, indeed, the Devil. I kept saying it last season, STOP making Lucifer not Lucifer!! We want the Old Lucifer back! The Lucifer that was in the First season!!!! The Writers and Producers who allowed the writers to change Lucifer are to blame. It would be Great if another network picked it up and got back to the Original Lucifer.
Interesting point commentary. I never watched Lucifer and only began watching Scorpion earlier this year (2023). They stopped Walter from being Walter late season 2 and beyond. This took away from Walter and Paige’s flirtation with each other. Happy became a weak dependent person instead of the angry independent woman. Part of Happy’s charm was she didn’t give a damn. No Toby and Happy would’ve never lasted because Toby is clingy and unreliable drenched in his addiction (gambling/drugs/alcohol/self destruction). Happy wouldn’t want that. Hence the story was ruined.
I’m Brazilian and I completely agree with you. I loved the 2 series and I still didn’t understand why they were canceled.
The show was one season away of reaching 100 episodes. CBS should consider bringing it back for a short 10 episode final season to wrap up the series. :(
Excellent idea! They could wrap up the hanging story lines and go out with satisfied viewers and the option to live on in syndication. A win for everyone.
CBS Access Should pick this up. That way they could start Access off with a lot of viewers. Put it on Access! We would sign up for that!
Excellent idea! The ending was awful so I’ve made up my own. The two teams end up working together on some save the world project, somehow Florence is out of the picture (haven’t figured that out yet), Paige and Walter work it out and the finale is a wedding and an adoption by Toby and Happy…THE END! You’re welcome CBS :)

I’m disgusted, Scorpion and Designated Surcivor are two of my favorite shows and they are both cancelled WHY for more crap REALITY or let’s see WHO CAN SING OR DANCE AND MAKE THE BIGGEST FOOL OF THEMSELVES? These were damn good TV how about thinking this over for those of us who like to watch good TV. I have no idea who makes these decisions but think again!!!!!!!

I agree completely. In addition to Scorpion & Designated Survivor, I lost 4 other shows. Like you said, they’ll probably replace them with some crap reality shows, which I detest.

My husband I totally agree! We both loved both Scorpion & Designeted Survivor!! The networks suck. The networks are killing them selves. We were equally as upset when they suddenly canceled Castle. But at least they were able to somewhat bring it to a somewhat better ending, at least it didn’t leave you hanging!
So another show who played the dice with the season ender that will disappoint fans with their ending… Maybe they thought the show was on safer ground but still… what a waste.

Their own fault the show went down the tubes.
A niggle, Michael: “Scorpion” premiered on Mondays at 9 PM, and moved to Mondays at 10 in S3. Ratings plunged with that move, and the 10PM slot is likely what killed it. Back before the premiere, there was a lot of excitement in the show in the autism spectrum parenting groups that I participated in and many had their kids watching at 9. 10PM just didn’t work.
