Mr. & Mrs. Smith, Starring Donald Glover And Maya Erskine, Pushed To 2024 At Prime Video — See New Photo
The new Mr. & Mrs. Smith will wait to make their introduction until next year.
Prime Video announced Thursday that Donald Glover's reimagining of the 2005 film will now arrive in "early 2024." The series was previously set to debut in November (as revealed in a Prime Day sneak peek shared in July), though an exact premiere date was never disclosed.
Amazon did not provide a reason for the delay, but the postponement comes as the Writers Guild of America and Screen Actors Guild continue to strike simultaneously. (The strikes forbid actors and writers from promoting their projects.) Other previously delayed series include Hulu's A Murder at the End of the World (which was pushed from August to November) and HBO's True Detective: Night Country (which was pushed from Q4 to 2024.)
From co-creators and executive producers Glover (Swarm, Atlanta) and Francesca Sloane (Atlanta, Fargo), the new Mr. & Mrs. Smith stars Glover as John Smith and Maya Erskine (PEN15) as Jane Smith. The official synopsis reads as follows:
"Meet the Smiths: Two strangers, John and Jane, who have given up their identities to be thrown together as partners — in espionage and in marriage. Matched by a mysterious agency, each episode follows them on a new mission and new milestone in their relationship. When the cracks begin to show through, they must fight to stay together. Because in this marriage, divorce is not an option."
