Stranger Things' Millie Bobby Brown Is Ready To Say Goodbye: It's 'Preventing Me From Creating Stories I'm Passionate About'

Sorry, Stranger Things fans, but Millie Bobby Brown is more than ready to leave Hawkins, Ind. behind.

In a newly published interview with Glamour Magazine (that was conducted before the SAG-AFTRA strike began), Brown said that she was prepared to bid her character Eleven farewell. "When you're ready, you're like, 'All right, let's do this. Let's tackle this last senior year. Let's get out of here,'" she said. "Stranger Things takes up a lot of time to film and it's preventing me from creating stories that I'm passionate about. So I'm ready to say, 'Thank you and goodbye.'"

The actress also noted that she's thankful for the role which has given her "the tools and the resources to be a better actor." She added, "When it ends, I'm going to be able to still see these people."

Brown also recalled the backlash she experienced on Stranger Things press tours when she was just 13 years old. She was accused of "trying to steal the thunder" of her co-stars when she accidentally spoke over them, which prompted many grown adults to call her "an idiot," "stupid" and "a brat."

"We're kids — we talk over each other," she said. "I was just penalized for over-talking and oversharing and being too loud."

"It's hard to hear that at 13," she added. "You're like, 'I don't want to ever talk again. I don't want to be the loud person'... In interviews I couldn't help but think of all the comments. So I just remembered to stay silent and speak when I was spoken to, even though I was dying to join in. I just felt it wasn't my turn."

The second part of Stranger Things' fourth season dropped on July 1, 2022. Production on the fifth and final season — which could take up to a year to shoot — has been pushed to 2024. "While we're excited to start production with our amazing cast and crew, it is not possible during this strike," series creators Matt and Ross Duffer said back in May. With the WGA strike now resolved, the Netflix phenom's writers took to social media to announce, "We're back." Still, it's going to be a long time before new episodes surface, as the last season is unlikely to drop before 2025.
