Walt Disney Television on Wednesday announced that Live With Kelly and Ryan, The Tamron Hall Show and The View will forgo studio audiences effective immediately, due to increasing concerns surrounding the spread of Coronavirus.
“Given the current developing situation in New York City, we have made the decision to suspend live audiences from attending our news broadcasts and talk shows,” a WDT spokesperson told TVLine.
Ryan Seacrest and Kelly Ripa addressed the decision at the top of Wednesday’s Live, before a wide shot revealed an audience that consisted of a skeleton crew of producers and other various staffers.
“As you can see, things are a little different here today, given the developing situation in New York with the Coronavirus,” Seacrest said. “The decision was made to suspend audiences from our show.”
Added Ripa, “While we don’t have our regular studio audience, except for some of our producers… that shouldn’t stop everyone from watching at home. Because, let’s face it: You can’t go anywhere else!”
Rachael Ray similarly taped without a studio audience on Wednesday, ahead of a preplanned week-long production hiatus.
The choice to move ahead without audiences on the above comes one day after The Wendy Williams Show made the same decision. “Wendy values her co-hosts and their daily participation, but in light of the current health climate, The Wendy Williams Show will not have a studio audience until further notice,” the show said in a statement. “We will continue to produce a daily live talk show and look forward to welcoming the studio audience back when the time is right.”
Several other syndicated programs have opted to shoot without an audience, including Dr. Phil and the game shows Jeopardy! and Wheel of Fortune.
I love Kelly but haven’t watched since Ryan came on. I dislike him intensely
Ugh. the egotist and the narcissist.
Without the live audience feeding their ids, the show will struggle.
Looks like the summer of quiet studios is upon us
I wonder if the late-night shows will follow suit?
Also, will every current multi-camera sitcom (like Mom and Last Man Standing) continue to be filmed without live audiences in their studios, or will they have to shut down production? And the judge shows like The People’s Court and Greg Mathis? Also, try to see if The Ellen DeGeneres Show will continue production while audience-less, or it just won’t work, so its production has to shut down for the time being.
If there doing what’s best for the people it’s okay but their missing on a good marketing opportunity. Think of it. The View Biohazard suit. It even cuts off sound whenever Joy Behar speaks.
That’s so hilarious, seriously how small is your penis
Sorry I didn’t mean to trigger you. I wish you well and hold you in my prayers. PS. Ask your Dad
He said it was SUPER small…
At least The View audience didn’t have to sit thru Elizabeth Hasselbeck nonsense pro Trump talk about him being a great leader during the coronavirus outbreak. Even Meghan was looking at her like she was a idiot. Which she is.
Will ABC West Coast follow next?
K&R also taped a day ahead because the segment with Steve Patterson aired on Twin Cities TV the night before.
I wonder if Maury Povich will do the same thing: forgo a live studio audience. He is in his late 70’s to early 80’s so he’s in the danger zone, so to speak. Although, he does seem to look healthy right now. If they do end up doing that, they’ll probably have to suspend filming and production. “The Maury Show” depends on the live studio audience a lot. *looks at comments* I might be one of the few people around who thought about that… I’m weird. 😂
For some of these shows, why don’t they just go on hiatus for a week or two to see if things subside quickly. A friend watched Wendy, who he loves, and he said it was cringeworthy today without her audience.
We love you guys make us laugh daily keep it up Kelly & Ryan itll be back in track soon✌♥️
I thought that Raymond was the perfect cohost for the show and her. I didn’t watch for a long time because of that. I really would like an answer as to why they picked Ryan. I just figured that Kelly didn’t see what she and the show could of benefited from having a new comer like Raymond. Ryan doesn’t bother me. But Kelly’s response to him is questionable. I absolutely believe that the decision to hire anyone that wasn’t already famous, was off the table. You really shouldn’t of got people’s hopes up that normal people had a chance. You knew all along that you were going to hire him. But it is what it is, sorry for the loss of ethics
So I missed the start of the show today- but I see that there is an audience What happened to the coronavirus precaution?

Watching your show this morning. Amanda is….have clue what to say about her. Brainwashed maybe? How in the world is it Trump fault? Was he there? Crazy!! Smear Campaign since day one.
Do not agree with him on a lot of his poss but better than dems. 🤓
This is very sad I want to see kelly and Ryan live in the studio these 2 make my day everyday .I saved my money for my bucket list to new York for my summer trip.
On the show where you talked about watching “Succession”, I was enticed to begin watching it. Other than the “F” word, I find it fascinating to watch. Wendell is silently raging and last night’s episode blew me out of the water. It scares me as to what happens to Wendell now?
Excellent casting for sure!
