Daytime legend Jacklyn Zeman‘s cause of death has been revealed.
The General Hospital actress’ family tells ABC News that she died after a short battle with cancer.
Zeman’s death was announced late Wednesday by GH executive producer Frank Valentini, who tweeted, “On behalf of our General Hospital family, I am heartbroken to announce the passing of our beloved Jackie Zeman. Just like her character, the legendary Bobbie Spencer, she was a bright light and true professional that brought so much positive energy with her to work. Jackie will be greatly missed, but her positive spirit will always live on with our cast and crew. We send our heartfelt sympathy to her loved ones, friends and family, especially her daughters Cassidy and Lacey.”
The ABC daytime soap’s production also released a statement in the wake of Zeman’s passing: “Jacklyn Zeman has been a beloved member of the General Hospital and ABC family since she originated the iconic role of Bobbie Spencer over 45 years ago. She leaves behind a lasting legacy for her Emmy-nominated portrayal of the bad girl turned heroine and will always be remembered for her kind heart and radiant spirit. We are devastated by the news of her passing, and send our deepest condolences to Jackie’s family, friends and loved ones.”
Rick Springfield, the ’80s rock star who played Dr. Noah Drake on the soap, added this tribute to Deadline: “Incredibly stunned and brokenhearted to hear of Jackie’s passing. Such a truly kind soul with no touch of the diva and only sweet things to say about everyone. She was the one, along with Gloria Monty, who helped launch my ’80s career when after the screen test along with several other hopeful young men. Gloria asked Jackie who she thought would make a good Noah Drake and God bless her if Jackie didn’t say me. Love to your spirit as it ascends, sweet girl. You left your mark on many of us and you will not be forgotten.” (For additional tributes to Zeman, click here.)

Cancer takes another life far too soon! Oh how I wish we could find a cure for cancer! Cancer doesn’t discriminate. It affects everyone – young, old, rich, poor…it’s so heartbreaking!!
I wonder what kind of cancer she had that took her so fast. Such a devastating loss. :(
Rest in peace dance with the angels
I’m in shock! We’ve lost so many this year. I wish cancer was a word we could retire from the dictionary.
I used to watch General Hospital when I was a teen. I am so sorry to be reading about her passing. Hoping one day thatC will no longer exist. Rest in peace

This is so sad! I remembered being a young girl watching her on GH. As I became older in high school I would race home to watch. Then VHS I could tape. I can remember her when she came on the show as Bobbie Spencer. The show will not be the same. Condolences to her family & GH family! May God hold you tight.
Jackie, was the best on GH. I am her age and watched since the beginning. She was a beautiful person inside and out. I can’t imagine GH without her but it will go on. RIP Jackie/ Bobbie❤️🥰🙏🙏
I remember Jackie on One Life to Life in a tennis scene. When she was on GH, I loved Bobbie Spencer character, especially with Anthony Geary, her TV brother Luke.
She will be missed. Jackie RIP and you will never be forgotten. My condolences to her family, her GH family and all the fans.
We Love You, Jackie.
For me the news came out of the blue. I’m shocked and incredibly sad tonight. Jackie Zeman was an amazing actress with much passion and conviction when playing Bobbie. Rest in peace, Jackie. My condolences to her family and friends.

My heart is broken R I P Jackie aka Bobbie
I got hooked when I made slipcovers in people’s homes and subconsciously listened and got into all shows the customers always watched them!
What a horrible way for a wonderful actress to leave life! I pray a cure for cancer will be found – too many have died from cancer – no family is untouched. All of us have family who have succumbed to cancer too early in their lives. Ms. Zeman rests in God’s Eternal Arms. God bless her family.

I am in shock! God bless you for your extraordinary talent as a person and an actress! I’ve watched G.H. since I was very young. Jackie Zeman stood out the most! Your an angel now, go with God and know you fulfilled not just your dream but your fans dreams as well! Condolences to her G.H. family, her personal loved ones and fans! You will be greatly missed!!!
I have to admit at first I wasn’t a Bobbie Spencer fan, I was pro Laura and Scottie, and I didn’t like Bobbie going after Scottie Baldwin, but she grew on me. Jackie was a terrific actress, and she will be missed. Life goes by so fast, hard to believe it was 45 years ago when she started, and I watched her from the beginning when I was a teen. Condolences to Jackie’s family.
Such a classy lady. Everyone from the soap world loved and appreciated her talent. RIP Jackie.
I had the pleasure of working with Jackie in 93-95 off and on the set of GH when i was on the show. She was always a beacon of light, always a smile and never heard a bad word about her. I was devastated and cried when I had heard the tragic news. Tristan Rogers and his wife, my sister Teresa called to tell me just after the producer reached out to Tristan, we were all beside ourselves as we’re all with her sudden passing. She well be missed and was a brilliant actor. So many GH losses this year alone. The GH wall of those that have passed is now filling up to fast and now another photo added soon. I’ll miss you Jackie we all will, thank you for our time together and entertaining us all for 5 decades. RIP my dear. Xoxo
