R.I.P. Jacklyn Zeman: GH‘s Laura Wright ‘Struggling’ to Accept the Death of Her ‘Incredible’ TV Mother
General Hospital‘s Laura Wright is paying tribute to her longtime TV mother Jacklyn Zeman, who died Wednesday at the age of 70 following a short battle with cancer.
“I’m struggling to wrap my head around this,” Wright lamented Thursday morning on Instagram. “I’m so grateful to have shared so many years with this beautiful woman. Jackie told the best stories, had an incredible spirit and lived such an amazing life. She loved working on GH. She adored her daughters and lit up when talking about her grandchildren. Saying she will be missed is an understatement. Thank you Jackie for sharing your heart and soul with all of us. Much love to [her daughters] Cassidy and Lacey.”
Wright joined GH as Carly Spencer, the daughter of Zeman’s Bobbie, in 2005, following in the footsteps of previous portrayers Tamara Braun and the character’s originator, Sarah Brown.
“The world has lost an absolutely unique and beautiful spirit,” Brown shared in her own Instagram tribute. “I don’t have all the words in this moment to express my gratitude to this beautiful feminine human who helped me so much during my time on General Hospital. Zeman’s death was announced late Wednesday by GH executive producer Frank Valentini, who tweeted, “On behalf of our General Hospital family, I am heartbroken to announce the passing of our beloved Jackie Zeman. Just like her character, the legendary Bobbie Spencer, she was a bright light and true professional that brought so much positive energy with her to work. Jackie will be greatly missed, but her positive spirit will always live on with our cast and crew. We send our heartfelt sympathy to her loved ones, friends and family, especially her daughters Cassidy and Lacey.”
I think Jackie would be pleased and yet humble as always to read just how much she meant to ALL of us – whether or not we ever had the pleasure of actually meeting her in person.
I let out a huge, “Oh my God!” late last night when the news of her death broke. I’m still shocked. First Sonya Eddy, now Jackie Zeman. JZ had some fantastic storylines over the decades and did some superb acting; the death of BJ (while Bobbi was cheating on Tony!), finding out Carly-who stole hubby Tony away-was her daughter , the death of Tony Jones. All fantastic performances by JZ. She most definitely will be missed. Condolences to all who loved her.

I have been watching General hospital for years, loved most of cast, Jacklyn Zeman(Bobbie) was one of my favorites among others. RIP Jacklyn, you will be missed and my heart aches for your family. You are well loved.
We all know Luke is the coolest character in the history of daytime television but his sister was no slouch. Bobbie was born on the wrong side of the tracks. I could never understand where the wrong side of the tracks was in Port Charles ‘s were and always got a kick out of that. Anyway that was some brother and sister team.. RIP

To say that I am shocked about the sudden passing of Ms. Jacklyn Zeman, is truly an understatement. I know that we all have to go someday, I really wasn’t expecting this news. GH just lost a producer last week. God bless Ms. Zemen’s Family, Friends and Colleagues on my super soap General Hospital. I pray God’s comfort over you all.

I know Lauren Wright ( Carolyn) ,taking it really hard, I been watching the general hospital for a very long time, I know how everyone taking it hard, but for Lauren Wright she really play her mom with love and kindness and respect 🙏🙏🙏🙌,my heart goes out to her friends and family and general hospital family love her so much my her rest in peace 🙏.

I loved her so much. The character she played was awesome. She was a good match with Tony Geary. I really thought they were sibling. Rest in peace beautiful lady with that great smile.
I just saw her on GH last week! OMG she worked right up to her death. I’m so sorry she is gone. She was a great old timer and I loved her character.

I ,like so many, am just shocked and so very saddened to read of this news this morning. Miss Jackie played such an incredible and important role on GH. They can never replace Bobbie Spencer with anyone she was definitely the one and only. My prayers go out to all who loved and love her both as herself and as her character. I’ve been watching GH since I was a little girl. I’m so heartbroken over the news of Jackie Zeman. She was great actress and just seemed like a wonderful person. Meeting all the cast has been one thing on my bucket list to have a happen, but sadly her and others that I loved won’t be there 😭. Sending lots of prayers, love and hugs to the GH cast and her family. I know all of you are devastated 😭. I love you all RIP Jackie Zeman
