Pour one out for the Carringtons — The CW‘s Dynasty reboot has been canceled after five seasons.

As of April 26, Dynasty this season is averaging 410,000 total weekly viewers and a 0.1 demo rating (with Live+7 playback factored in), which is right on par with its Season 4 tallies. Out of the 19 dramas The CW has aired this TV season, it ranks dead last in audience and is among seven that muster just a 0.1 rating.
The CW’s atypical “bloodbath” of cancellations this season (seven shows got the axe on May 12 alone) is likely due to the network’s rumored upcoming sale (perhaps to the Nexstar affiliate group) and thus its uncertain future.
Series star Elizabeth Gillies took to Instagram shortly after news of Dynasty‘s cancellation broke to say that she’s “saving the goodbyes” for a later date. According to Gillies’ post, there are still six more episodes in the show’s fifth (and now final) season to film:

The Dynasty reboot, a diverse twist on the original series’ premise, starred Gillies as Fallon, Daniella Alonso as Cristal, Elaine Hendrix as Alexis, Rafael de la Fuente as Sammy Jo, Sam Underwood as Adam, Michael Michele as Dominique, Robert Christopher Riley as Culhane, Sam Adegoke as Jeff, Maddison Brown as Kirby, Adam Huber as Liam, Eliza Bennett as Amanda and Grant Show as Blake.
Previous series regulars included Nathalie Kelley as the original Cristal (aka Celia), James Mackay as Steven, Alan Dale as Anders, Ana Brenda Contreras as Cristal No. 2 and Nicollette Sheridan as the OG Alexis.
The original Dynasty aired for nine seasons (1981–1989) on ABC. Canonized offshoots included Dynasty II: The Colbys, a spinoff that aired from 1985 to 1997, and Dynasty: The Reunion, a 1991 miniseries starring much of the show’s main cast.

so they finally put it out of it’s misery, but at least it ended before they could do a repeat of a Moldovian Wedding massacre….or have they done that already
I was just wondering the same thing. I don’t think we ever met Clay Fallmont either, but, especially with all of the different Alexises (Alexi?), I feel like the show has more than run its course already.
I read that Clay Falmont was a decent part of the first series at some point and would be awesome to have met the new variation of him or Alexis”s sister caress her cousin sable or Blake’s brother Ben. I think so that the show doesn’t go out crashing an d burning they will have Amanda unravel the Steven mystery and get Adam back but no clue as to if we will have anything more than a look alike resolution and stevens alive or no need for a recast and kill him but Adam Roy’s in hell for it. From what I heard, the cat fights were far more in the OG and the Alexis and Crystal catfights were the ones that spanned the series and Dominique and Alexis went at it but not like the new series which has then going at it more. Maybe add some more blockbuster catfights and a Steven mystery reveal and rebranded on Adam and let’s get to know the new dex dexter as a new season renewal likely would have bumped him up to a regular

Yes, 2 seasons. I was a big fan of the original Dynasty and liked The Colbys mainly because Emma Samms left Dynasty for the spin-off. Never cared for her as Fallon. :-)
Have to say the Dynasty team should be happy to have five seasons with such anemic ratings. I was no fan of this reboot but I know some are. We hate when are favorites get the axe without a sense of closure.
The Rita identical to Crystal story really hammered in the final nail to the coffin.Hope they wrap up and get Adam behind bars. Never cared too much for Blake after he beat that man to death and want to see karma play out to Alexis.
It never made sense that it continued to be on this long.
Loved Elizabeth Gillies though.
Even when the show was uneven (like much of the last two seasons), Liz Gillies managed to put that thing on her back and carry it; hope she gets another shot at leading a series in the future (the addition of Eliza Bennett as Amanda was also a plus this and last season).

Loved the original, but this reboot was TERRIBLE.
It was only good in it’s first season.
The only thing good thing it had going for it was Fallon. I’ll also say that Blake was also good. But they never had a good Krystal after getting rid of the original actress in season 1.
I agree the original Cristal was the best.
I thought the international numbers for this show were great and that is why it stuck around as long as it did. I guess with the impending sale it wasn’t enough. I hope it doesn’t end on a cliffhanger episode. Which I suspect it will.
Dynasty has been really bad the last few seasons. The storylines are so dumb. I don’t understand why they never brought Steven back. They really missed an opportunity for such a good story line involving Steven and Adam.
Is that a typo? Dynasty averaged 410 viewers? I know CW numbers are low (embarrassing so for many of its shows) so I’m hoping there are a few zeroes missing from that number. Looks like CW is cleaning house in a big way.
Dynasty 1 season was amazing but its lost, s2 and s3 was decline, s4 was great but s5 sp far has zero development, its a big fanfiction for falliam, and falliam is not that good, Fallon is a amazing character that deserve be better developed than be resume to a couple. Liaz did a amazing job
Completely agree. Season 1 was a fun ride and then season 2 was awful. Seasons 3 and 4 were okay but nothing great and season 5 has been boring.
Season two was the best! Loved how dark and twisted it got. After that, all downhill.

Does it end on a cliffhanger? I might give it a go, while on NetFlix, as long as it does not have any loose ends.
Just so everyone knows. They are still filming season 5 so it probably will have an ending and shouldnt end on a cliffhanger. They just finished filimg episode 15 and have 7 episodes to go

I believe the show was good. I really hate to see the show leave, I personally enjoyed it very much. My favorite character was Elizabeth Gillies(Fallon). I’m very sad.

It’s a crazy, fun, off the wall (yes not realistic but very entertaining) show to watch. Hopefully somewhere it will be picked up for further seasons. 🤞

I am deeply saddened by this news, it is my favorite show on tv, thankfully I have Netflix, which some of the seasons are on
Ugh…I’m very sad about this one! Total guilty pleasure of a show! It’s fun and campy and I love it! What will I do on my exciting Friday (or Saturday if I DVR it) nights now?! I love Liz Gillies! She owns this role!! And I feel like the whole cast just works…finally…after a few Cristal and Alexis recasts. The current Alexis is the best one. I’m definitely disappointed, but not completely surprised. Wish Netflix or Hulu would pick it up to continue for another few seasons.
