Mayim Bialik is saying goodbye to Call Me Kat… and looking ahead to what might have been.
The actress posted a tribute to her cancelled Fox sitcom on Monday, saying: “It’s so hard to say goodbye to yesterday….We made a lot of people laugh during COVID in ways that at first seemed impossible. But with this incredible cast — Cheyenne [Jackson], Swoosie [Kurtz], Julian [Gant] and Kyla [Pratt] — and, of course, with the late Leslie Jordan, all things that seemed impossible became possible.”
But she even went a step further, revealing what would’ve happened to Call Me Kat‘s cast of characters had the show been renewed. “Decide the ending you want, but for me, here’s where I think we all end up: Kat and Max live happily ever after, Randi and Carter get married and do the same, and Sheila is forever in everyone’s life bringing joy and wisdom. And Phil lives on forever. Thank you for being a part of our journey.” (Bialik was also an executive producer on the series.)
Fox cancelled Call Me Kat last week after a three-season run that began back in January 2021. “We are very proud of Call Me Kat,” a Fox rep said in a statement to TVLine. “But, unfortunately, the audience response to it was not as strong as we had hoped. We are thankful for our partnership with Warner Bros. Television, That’s Wonderful Productions, Sad Clown Productions, BBC Studios, Mayim Bialik, Jim Parsons and the entire cast and crew for their work and dedication to Call Me Kat.”

I’m just sad, loved the show, made me happy
I think that fox should have given them at least one more season to prove their selves. I’m disappointed that they were cancelled and hope that they get a reprieve..
I mean, I get it but three seasons is pretty generous… At a certain point, they can’t be expected to keep a show on the air that gets ratings like this. It honestly feels like a good run to me.
Yes but I do wish we got like a tv movie to wrap things up
The only thing I watch on Fox. No reason to tune in anymore.
I hope another network picks it up. It was fun to watch.
I loved that show! The characters were talented and endearing, the humor was excellent without needing X rating, the storyline kept me involved, and I wanted to see Cat and Max get together in marriage. That would’ve been a wedding to see!! Think about the talent they had on that 30 minute show with basically one set!! I’m so disappointed and I wish another network would pick it up!!
Miranda, the original one is way better, if you like this remake whatch the original for clousure!
It really is. Heck, my dog is named Miranda after her. However, this is one of those times that I wish we did television like BBC. Give them a special to wrap it all up.
It was time. It had its run now it’s time for it to end.
I’m heartbroken. This is the show I look forward to every week. I had a feeling it was going to happen, but now that it’s official, I’m crushed.
Agreed. Not the correct way to end. No true closure.
A shorter fourth season (8-9 episodes?) to close out the storylines would’ve been appreciated by me. But we must let the chips fall where they may. I enjoyed the second and third seasons (I didn’t watch the first). Rest in Power to Leslie Jordan! He really brightened up my day when this show came on, off-screen as well, especially during the pandemic! Good luck to the cast and crew!!
Such a cute show. It’s sad to see the nice shows cancelled.
I am so sorry to hear of Call Me Kat being cancelled. The cast is so talented and it was a “look forward to” show every week. One more season would have been great to see if everyone’s dreams came true. Thanks for the three seasons we did have .
Guess I’m out of step with the other commenters as I don’t understand how this show got 3 seasons – a woman running a cat café when women obsessed with cats are usually a figure of fun, not a fun figure who keeps one’s interest. The actors vamping it up on set at the end of each episode was jarring, taking you out of the world they just spent 30 minutes trying to create.
If you’re wondering why I know this much despite finding the show lame, I skimmed it during commercials, like the grim fascination that makes you look at a car accident.
Well said. I agree with you 100%.
I loved this show! I found it so heart warming and funny.
This was such a cute show, will really miss it. Need more upbeat shows. Thanks for the laughs, Mayim and crew!!!!
Loved this show. Very funny! So sad its been cancelled. Not enough shows make you laugh these days – we need more humor not less. Wish the cast and crew much luck in their next careers.
Are you kidding? I think in all three seasons I maybe laughed twice. It was just not funny. Watch the original it was based on called Miranda which is hilarious.
I agree with you. This show wasn’t funny at all. Horrible; just plain horrible. Good riddance to bad rubbish.
And you are the arbitrer of funny? Pretty subjective
All opinions, by definition, are subjective.
After years of not watching any sit coms (I hated the laugh tracks, the lame jokes, you name it, I hated it) Call me Kat brought me back to them. I will miss this quirky little gem. Loved the end of each episode when the broke the fourth wall. They used that in an exceptional way when they honored Leslie Jordon. will take the advice of others and catch up with the British original.
💯
I will miss them all. It was a laugh. I like her outcome for all.
I’m surprised that this show wasn’t cancelled in the 1st season. I couldn’t stomach more than 10 minutes of this trash. Horrible show; good riddance to bad rubbish.
So you follow articles on shows you hate? Kinda sad.
Hey Jeff: Read my name, it says it all, sucker!
I was thinking the same thing. He’s a sad man who feels the need to force his negativity on others. Guess he has nothing better to do.
So sorry, its my fault. Every show I like gets cancelled!
Well, you do have taste that is up your a$$!
Something was really off this season. It was so obviously retooled. Mayim’s character was so extra obnoxious -almost to the point of being unlikeable Cheyenne Jackson’s character also awkward. And then Leslie Jordan died. Yikes! I’ve watched this show since the beginning and haven’t missed an episode but I’m ready for it to go.
“Sheila is forever in everyone’s lives bringing joy and wisdom” so she gets a personality transplant? LOL
I like the ending. Yes Kay and Max need to be together. I’m very unhappy the shows ending. It’s really the only show I like. Most of the other comedies on tv suck. So I’ll just keep watching the reruns.
I am thrilled that this horrible show is now cancelled. Pure drek, and having to look at Mayim Bialik just want to make one puke
I watched every episode of CMK but I am glad it is canceled because Mayim doesn’t get it: Max and Kat didn’t work.
Liked Call Me Kat. My wife and would have liked to seen a spin off of Randi and Carter. At the end we tuned end to see these characters.
The show started off funny, different, enjoyable. Sheila became nastier with each episode and season, and the original premise of the show got lost. The writing became awful. It just got…ruined. So long. Watch Miranda!
fingers crossed this paves the way for a third season of Welcome to Flatch. Great show.
Really? Seriously? “Welcome to Flatch” is almost as bad as “Call me Kat”. You really must have taste up the a$$!
I watched it all, but unfortunately, it never was that good. The only thing actually redeeming about the show were Leslie Jordan and Kyla Pratt. I expected more from Swoosie and Mayim, but they just weren’t all that good…and Swoosie, especially, was just a extremely poor knockoff of her character on Mike & Molly. It really should have been cancelled after the first season.
