Bucking this week’s cancellation trend, ABC on Friday renewed all five of its remaining scripted bubble shows.
For those keeping track at home, that includes dramas Big Sky (for Season 3) and A Million Little Things (for Season 5), as well as comedies The Conners (for Season 5), Home Economics (for Season 3) and The Wonder Years (for Season 2).
TVLine’s 2022 Renewal Scorecard has been updated to reflect all five pickups.
The Conners this season is averaging 4.8 million total weekly viewers and a 0.8 demo rating (with Live+7 playback), down 14 and 27 percent from last season. Among the six sitcoms ABC has aired this TV season, it is first in viewers and ties Abbott Elementary and The Goldbergs — both of which were previously renewed — for No. 1 in the demo.
Home Economics’ second season is averaging 2.9 million total weekly viewers and a 0.5 demo rating (with Live+7 playback), down 17 and 29 percent from its freshman run. Out of the six sitcoms that ABC has aired this TV season, it ranks No. 5 in both measures.
So far this season, A Million Little Things has been averaging 4.1 million total weekly viewers and a 0.7 demo rating (with Live+7 playback) — down 20 and 30 percent from its Season 3 tallies. Out of the eight dramas ABC has aired this TV season, it ranks No. 6 in audience and ties for fifth in the demo. It does, though, enjoy the second-best DVR bump of any ABC series. (FYI: Preliminary discussions are underway about Season 5 being Million Little Things‘ last, but no final decision has been made.)
Big Sky Season 2 is averaging 5.8 million total weekly viewers and a 0.7 demo rating (with Live+7 playback), down 22 and 26 percent from its freshman run. Out of the eight dramas that ABC has aired this TV season, it ranks No. 5 in both measures. (Speaking of Big Sky, Jensen Ackles is officially coming on board as a series regular in Season 3 — full details here.)
Lastly, The Wonder Years — which, as previously reported, will be moving forward sans EP Fred Savage — thus far is averaging 3 million total weekly viewers and a 0.6 demo rating (with Live+7 playback). Out of the half-dozen sitcoms ABC has aired this TV season, it ranks No. 4 in both measures (ahead of Home Economics and black-ish).
THANK GOODNESS, after the past few days I was so worried about A Million Litter things. I knew Wonder Years was good, it just good quality TV.
Wonder years was actually predicted to be canceled so you got lucky with both!
Not sure where you saw that. It was on the Bubble but it’s odds were higher than Home Economics.
There is a very popular non-TV Line media site specializing in posting ratings data and renewal/cancellation odds that had A Million Things prediction as “likely cancelled” all Season so that could’ve been a possible source.
Just curious which site.
I like to view to see which of my shows are likely to be renewed or cancelled.
THANK GOODNESS, after the past few days I was so worried about A Million Litter things. I knew Wonder Years was good, it just good quality TV.
That doesn’t mean anything, they renewed trashy The Conners so who knows, seems like all the bad ones get renewed!
Congrats to A Million Little Things, Big Sky, and The Wonder Years. I’m surprised they have announced A Million Little Things as the final season
They said (FYI: Preliminary discussions are underway about Season 5 being Million Little Things‘ last, but no final decision has been made.)
SO not that it is 100% final
I REALLY like Million…the first season, but after they put a favorite actor (loved him in GRIMM) in a situation where his storyline just took a bizarre turn, I lost interest…plus the other characters became too Whiney and annoying, so never went back to it after that first season.
well so much for thinking they’ll move The Good Doctor to the post-Grey’s slot, I’m guessing the show won’t be back til midseason with MNF being a thing in the next tv season
now we’re just waiting on Supermarket Sweep (which I’m guessing is doomed)
Now I can see why DWTS is moving to Disney+. There were some rumblings about MNF slowly coming back to ABC. As for Sweep, the jury is still out. They already laid to rest 5 other game shows about a month ago.
I really like Wonder Years and especially Home Economics. Glad to see they are renewed.
Me too-I was thinking I must be the only person who watched Home Economics! I’ve liked it from the pilot. It took a few episodes for me to warm up to The Wonder Years and I’m so glad because it’s a terrific show. After the CBS bloodbath yesterday of Magnum and United States of Al getting canceled, I was pleasantly surprised to learn about these 2 renewals especially Home Economics.
Ditto!!! These were the last two I was waiting to hear about.
A Million Little Things was an obvious renewal because of episode count and ownership. It’ll have the final season treatment and a decent number of episodes to shop to buyers in the syndication market.
YAY about A Million Little Things & hope they don’t change anything about The Wonder Years now that Fred Savage has been fired.
I am really happy about a Million Little things. A favorite of mine. I do watch Home Economics so I was happy to see it renewed.
Omg, I’m SO happy that Home Economics was renewed. Love that show!
I’m pleasantly surprised it was renewed. I thought it was doomed. I guess ABC’s pilot season didn’t provide good comedy options so they stuck with most of their existing shows.
Same! It’s a cute family show and Topher Grace is ALWAYS fun to watch. And I love all the interactions between the dysfunctional family members. Happy they kept Home Economics!
Yay for Home Economics has 4 shows canceled yesterday.
I am shocked yet happy that big sky & home economics got renewed.
Not the worst plan, can spend all add money on relaunching Tue as a comedy night, move conners to 8p, launch new comedy, Abott Elementary, and Wonder Years.
Just throw home eco after goldburgs and launch a new show on wed
Surprised by some of these. I only watch The Conners out of this list. And I am at the point that I wish it was renewed for a FINAL season.
We just complained about The Conners the other night (also the only show we watch on this list). I saw one Home Economics episode, maybe we should switch. The Conners has become bad TV!
lol we must be watching different shows. This is why (besides the renewal itself) I’m happy The Conners got renewed.
Yay!! So happy for The Wonder Years!! The cast is so good and the show always makes us laugh when we watch with our family. It is just Feel-Good Tv!!! Kudos!!!
After yesterday’s bloodbath, we could use some good news.
I know! Right?
Thank god for home economics, i was really worried that they were gonna cancel it, it has the best cast and its so underrated
I agree about it being underrated. It is SO good. And funny. And very true to sibling relationships.
Home Economics getting to season 3 with their laughable ratings from the get go? Yeah, kinda stings when other prematurely cancelled shows from ABC given such grace.
No idea if he got more than a 10 episode, 3rd season, which is typical for ABC, giving low rated shows they like 30 to 40 episodes to find an audience
I am so happy about Home Economics. I love that quirky little show. Reminds me of my family. A lot!
I’m so happy Big Sky has been renewed!
WOOHOO! I was worried that Friday the 13th wasn’t going to be kind to Big Sky.
Very glad that A Million Little Things was renewed! I was on edge about its status. Hopefully it is the final season though because I worry next time it wouldn’t get renewed and its quality has gone down a bit IMO. I’d like a satisfying ending rather than a cliffhanger cancellation.
Given that ABC execs told DJ Nash not to wrap up the storylines, i think it’s decently safe to say that he tries his best to make sure he’s in loop of what direction execs are leaning so that he doesn’t leave any loose ends.
I believe when the series first started, he said in a interview he envisioned it being a “4 or 5 season show”. Given the ratings and the length he envisioned from the beginning, I feel pretty confident this will be the final one.
So happy about AMLT and Home Economics!
Do people not watch ABC compared to the other networks, because those are some low ratings. CBS canceled Magnum PI and it was averaging 7 Million viewers, which is more than these shows on ABC.
Live viewers mean nothing for a shows renewal chances. The 18-49 demo brings the money for networks, namely the C3 ratings.

I’m surprised by the million things renewal since it hasn’t fared well and viewership is down. Hope its the last season though. I mean Delilah in France leaving Sophie behind is still baffling to me. Katherine’s storyline.. its just been all over the place this season.
I agree. I hope AMLT is more focused. it’s so scattered. I’m really only liking Maggie and Gary and Eddie. I hate the Katherine story. I hate the Regina, Rome and Terrell story with a passion.
Hmmm…not liking any of the characters of diversity storylines eh
Remember when ABC was a slaughterhouse and The CW mother Theresa?
So true!
Very happy about The Wonder Years and Home Economics!
I can honestly say I have not watched a single program on ABC.
‘Big Sky’ is the first ABC show I have seen since… I can’t even remember.
