T.K. and Carlos just got one more thing to celebrate on their honeymoon — Fox has renewed 9-1-1: Lone Star for Season 5, TVLine has learned.
In quite the plot twist, though, Lone Star will be the only 9-1-1 series returning to Fox for the 2023-24 season. As TVLine has confirmed, the mothership series will not be returning for Season 7 at Fox, but will instead move to ABC for its just-announced seventh season. (Get full details here.)
Season to date, 9-1-1: Lone Star is averaging 5.9 million total viewers and a 0.8 demo rating (with Live+7 playback), down 20 percent from its Season 3 numbers. Out of the eight dramas Fox has aired this TV season, it ranks No. 2 in both measures (trailing only its ABC-bound sire).
9-1-1: Lone Star stars Rob Lowe as firefighter captain Owen Strand, Ronen Rubinstein as paramedic T.K. Strand, Sierra McClain as 9-1-1 operator Grace Ryder, Jim Parrack as firefighter Judd Ryder, Natacha Karam as firefighter/paramedic Marjan Marwani, Brian Michael Smith as firefighter/paramedic Paul Strickland, Rafael L. Silva as police officer Carlos Reyes, Julian Works as firefighter Mateo Chavez, Gina Torres as EMS captain Tommy Vega, Brianna Baker as paramedic Nancy Gillian, and Kelsey and Skyler Yates as Tommy’s daughters Izzy and Evie.
New episodes currently air Tuesdays at 8/7c.
TVLine’s 2023 Renewal/Cancellation Scorecard has been updated to reflect 9-1-1: Lone Star‘s good news. Your thoughts on the Fox procedural’s latest season? Drop ’em in a comment below.
OK if you like soap opera.
Good thing I do then
Yep. A couple weeks ago, I started referring to it as 911: Melrose Place.
The show is going down the dumper.
I love a good soapy drama, but holy crap, this one has become a different show this past season in the worst way. Like why are we seeing more of Owen sleeping around and then randomly being a hero in weirdly related situations that he is completely unqualified to handle than actual 9-1-1 rescues that require his team’s expertise? I’m hoping this was just a bad season and not indicative of continued decline (season 3 was so good!), but something tells me to keep my expectations low.
Great news! Most entertaining drama on TV today, by far. Superb ensemble cast.
Great news as I love this show.
The things that I loved most about Lonestar and the original was the unique and comical rescue calls that they featured. I wish they would get back to more of that and less soapy couple drama. But I’m still a fan and happy that both got renewed. Now can we just get TK and Carlos married already!!!
They should probably move it to the mothership time slot
Je connais tvline grâce à Michael aussiello et spoiler alert que j ai vu en décembre dernier. J espere un jour aller à L A .j aurai peut-être l occasion de voir tvline.
I love both 9-1-1’s, and I am overjoyed that they have both been renewed. It’s a little odd that they will be on different networks come fall though.
Shame they didn`t cancel this crap! Horrible storylines, reminds some sope opera day time serie. Kick the writers and hire new ones or cancel this poop!
When I encounter a television series or film that does not appeal to me, I have found the strength to–somehow, someway–simply not watch it.
But that’s just me.
I guess I was gifted with super powers. :)
I’m beyond thrilled that this show has been renewed. I lived in Austin for 28 years so I love seeing background scenes of the city’s skyline (often pausing to take in all the changes). The writing & the actors are exceptional. I’ll keep watching.
i love this show except one thing … im sorry but rob low is AWEFUL like how on earth has he worked this long hes such a bad actor and his storylines are always annoying, i think it needs to do what 911 did and bring on another well known star like they did with jennifer love hewitt. wonder will it be kept for midseason this time
I record Lone Star but FF to watch only the scenes with #Tarlos. It’s bewildering that Fox opted to retain this series while jettisoning the much superior OG 9-1-1! There is certainly no comparison with cast members – the OG wins by a landslide!
Fox is the squirrelest network of all time.
I’m still watching, but I agree that it’s become more of a soap. These are examples of the recent plots:
The Tommy and her Pastor story; Mateo’s “surprise” wife; T.K. and Mateo wedding planning,
T.K. and Mateo’s cake tasting (really?), T.K., and Mateo’s divergent feelings about parenthood melodrama.
Marjan quitting her job. Marjan helping an abused woman. Marjan being stalked and shot by that woman’s husband.
Owen helping the FBI for 6 episodes (I read that – I didn’t count them!). Owen and his not-girlfriend’s husband, first trapped under her car, and then dying of pesticide contamination led to him freezing to death.
Grace’s dad having a hear attack and her family singing a hymn (beautifully) at his beside.
When you include Mateo’s kidnapping, almost every emergency involves a member of the 126 or someone connected to them.
For viewers who think it’s all about Rob Lowe: when I was watching 911, there was a note on the corner of the screen saying “Rob Lowe will return tomorrow.” The 9-1-1 Lonestar logo came after that.
Great Show!
Good news! However, why did FOX cancel the original 9-1-1 and leave this one? At least ABC is picking up Season 7 of the original 9-1-1! The original is my very favorite! Why did these 2 shows cut down on the rescues? I notice Chicago Fire doesn’t put out many fires either! Not like my favorite show ever that was on in the 70’s! That was Emergency! And to me, nothing else like that show has ever measured up again!
It will be very interesting if FOX moves Lonestar back to Monday in the 8p/7p time slot, and ABC keeps the 9-1-1 original Monday 8p/7p slot so they’re opposite each other!!
911: Lone Star is my 2nd favorite show, ranking close behind Blue Bloods. I have watched it from the beginning, and if it were cancelled, it would leave a big hole in my TV-watching life. There are only 3 shows I really care about, and this is one of them!
I’m in Love with Rafael L. Silva. How I wish he could be my boyfriend. <3
I’m disappointed that 911 was canceled on fox. It’s the best over lone star. I don’t see why they would get rid of 911 and keep lone star.
