TVLine Readers Give Thanks For Grey's Comeback, Uncancelled Shows, New Amsterdam 'Ship, Hetty Hug And More

With Thanksgiving upon us, it feels appropriate to say there's been a bounty of quality television this year, and TVLine readers have some gratitude to express for it.

On Wednesday, our TVLine staff members shared their appreciation for 2021's small-screen cornucopia — OK, our Thanksgiving wordplay ends here, promise — and now, it's your turn. We've gathered your submissions from the past two weeks, and below, you'll find 20 shout-outs to this year's TV, from Yellowstone's still-intact Dutton family to a fresh wave of '90s nostalgia.

Elsewhere on our list, readers gave thanks for the "uncancellations" of two broadcast series, the return of a much-missed Grey's Anatomy character, New Amsterdam's decision to go there with Max and Helen, a certain Fox freshman and much more. (Note: Submissions have been edited for content and clarity.)

Scroll through the list below to see all 20 submissions we've singled out, then drop a comment with the 2021 television for which you are most grateful. Happy Thanksgiving, TVLiners!

HOLLY SAYS...

"I'm thankful that the New Amsterdam writers got Helen and Max together finally, and for how well they've handled the storyline since the new season started."

ARACELI SAYS…

"This year I am thankful for the love of the '90s. Everything that is (barely) old is new again, and this year television revived the last decade of the 20th century in almost every genre. From the suspense of Cruel Summer to the musical homages of Girls5eva and Queens, the nostalgia fed into my pandemic longing for the 'before' times, then gently reminded me that some things are best left in the past. Looking at you, misogyny and chokers."

JEN SAYS...

"I'm thankful for the bounty that is The Big Leap. It has everything I want to see on television: romance and relationships to root for (at least five different ones to 'ship); characters you can love, love to hate, or just hate; interesting backstories; background characters that shine just as bright as the main cast; fun dance numbers; drama; comedy; revenge; diversity; and Scott Foley full of charm and smarm."

DREW SAYS…

"I'm thankful for the 11th hour saves of two brilliant shows from unlikely sources — Roku saving Zoey's Extraordinary Playlist and OWN saving All Rise. Both of these shows have been bright spots for me in an oversaturated TV landscape, and I'm grateful to not say goodbye to these characters and stories yet!"

MINDY SAYS…

"I am very thankful to the Rookie writers for all the quality Chenford content we've been receiving this season so far, and I hope there is more to come."

SCOTT SAYS...

"I'm thankful that Legends of Tomorrow brought so many cast members back for its 100th episode. That, combined with SNL's vast array of cameos, was the biggest demonstration of a sense of normalcy. On a related note, I'm also thankful that Brandon Routh and Victor Garber get second appearances this season for Flash's Armageddon and Beebo Saves Christmas, respectively."

'KAYW4' SAYS…

"I'm thankful for the unexpectedly great slate of programming that's building up some steam on Apple TV+: Foundation, The Morning Show, For All Mankind, Mythic Quest, Trying, Invasion and obviously Ted Lasso."

DENISE SAYS…

"Thankful to NBC for giving us Ordinary Joe. James Wolk is fabulous as Joe Kimbreau in the three versions of Joe's life. The writing is incredible and so heartfelt. I will be even more grateful if NBC renews the show to fill the gap that This Is Us will leave next year."

LAURIE SAYS…

"My heart is most thankful that all of the Duttons survived on Yellowstone!"

MEGAN SAYS...

"I am very thankful that Kit and Bell's relationship on The Resident has been able to beautifully develop from friendship to romance. Bruce Greenwood and Jane Leeves are incredibly talented actors, and it's wonderfully refreshing to have a show that celebrates actors and characters over 50 rather than banishing them to minor supporting parent roles."

MARY SAYS…

"I'm thankful for six seasons of Melissa Benoist and Chyler Leigh as the Danvers sisters. They were the heart and soul of Supergirl, and I am hoping that we won't have to wait 20 years to see them work together again."

DAVID SAYS...

"That Jennifer Coolidge (and her deliriously charming Tanya) was the first cast member invited back for Season 2 of The White Lotus."

BRITTANY SAYS…

"I am thankful for the return of Leverage (now Redemption). It took a couple episodes for it to re-discover its legs, but afterward, we were transported right back into the Leverage team we knew and loved, even with the cast changes which brought their own new, fresh take to the team."

CRISTIANE SAYS…

"I'm thankful we still have Law & Order: SVU, and especially Mariska Hargitay. Olivia Benson is an excellent role model for younger women. The character has grown and changed, but in the way a real person would. Mariska is a fantastic actor, and this is one of those parts you can't imagine being played by anyone else."

LISA SAYS…

"This year in TV, I'm thankful for Resident Alien and Alan Tudyk's amazing performance that made me laugh out loud with every episode. I would be even more thankful if Tudyk would get a much-deserved Emmy!"

BELISAR SAYS…

"I'm thankful for Addison Montgomery's return to Grey's Anatomy. It was a long time coming, and I felt like it was exactly her return that made us finally accept McDreamy's death."

EVAN SAYS...

"I'm thankful that The CW picked up Tom Swift for this season. I really enjoyed his appearance on Nancy Drew, and I'm looking forward to hearing a premiere date!"

HEATHER SAYS…

"This year I am thankful that Chicago P.D. finally allowed Hailey and Jay to be together (and are letting them go through all the highs and lows of this new aspect to their relationship), but most of all, I'm thankful for Tracy Spiridakos being given opportunities to shine and show off her talent. Her performances over this past year have been both heartbreaking and amazing as Hailey navigates the new experiences in her life."

DD SAYS…

"I'm thankful for Only Murders in the Building! It was the perfect blend of comedy and murder mystery to start off the new season of TV, and who knew the combo of Steve Martin, Martin Short and Selena Gomez was the comedic trio missing in our lives?! I'm thankful there's Season 2 to look forward to."

MARIA SAYS…

"I'm very thankful for NCIS: Los Angeles bringing Hetty back to say goodbye to Nell at the end of Season 12. Seeing Hetty again wasn't just amazing, but the hug that she and Nell shared was perfect!"
