Matt’s Inside Line: Scoop on NCIS: LA, The Conners, Magnum P.I., Fire Country, Silo, AGT, a CW Cancellation and More

Is anyone at NBC having second thoughts about “saving” Magnum P.I.? Numbers have not been good for the current season. –Jim
Along those lines, I asked Jeff Bader, President of Entertainment Program Planning Strategy for NBCUniversal Television and Streaming, if Magnum might score a more favorable time slot when it returns, having thus far led out of allll manner of reruns on Sunday night. Bader said that when it comes to ratings, “Everything’s relative,” meaning “for us it was [pulling] a good number” on Sundays. I then noted that Season 5A, which averaged 5 million viewers (with delayed playback), was down more than 30% from its Season 4 numbers on CBS, where it aired Fridays at 9. (It’s also down 43% in the demo.) “CBS does have a much broader audience, because of the older audience that they get,” Bader noted. As for any time slot change, “We have not yet locked in our midseason schedule… but we would love to grow that show,” Bader affirmed. “We’re with you that the show should be bigger than it is. It’s a great asset for us.”

Any word on what NBC’s new, midseason America’s Got Talent show is about? –Jeremy
I asked NBCUniversal exec Jeff Bader about that, and he said, “Every January we come on with some sort of a ‘best of’ [edition] — all-stars, champions — so it’s going to be another incarnation like that.”

There seems to be a “holey” in ABC’s summer schedule, as I haven’t read a word about a possible fifth season of Holey Moley. Any word one way or the other? –Louis

I’m really enjoying Silo so far, but I’m confused about how long the silo itself has been around. Is it 140 years? –Craig
I had a similar question, mainly because a document in an upcoming episode indicates a recent year as ending in “40.” But EP Graham Yost set me straight. “There are two ways to measure — silo years, and A.R., After Rebellion,” he explained. “They don’t really know how many years there were before the rebellion; all the records were destroyed by the rebels. But I’ll say this: It’s not a thousand years, and it’s not 10,000 years. It’s in the hundreds.” And as author/EP Hugh Howey added, “The question you want answered, if we get to do more seasons, will be answered.”

I loved the chemistry between Lecy Goranson and Sean Astin on The Conners. Any chance we’ll see Sean back as Tyler in Season 6? –Dee
“Absolutely,” Bruce Helford recently told TVLine. “Whenever we bring in a new love interest, we’ve got to watch the chemistry, because we never know [if it will work]. But we love Sean, and they were great together, so we definitely want to bring them back together and see what we can find there.”

Is there any news on where The CW stands with the rest of its lineup? –Sara
More decisions should (should!) emerge in the next 48 hours, and I plan to get answers to many lingering Inside Line questions at Thursday’s Upfront presser. But for now, TVLine can exclusively report that Would I Lie to You? — the yarn-spinning game show hosted and executive-produced by Evil’s Aasif Mandvi — has been cancelled. We hear that while the Stateside adaptation of the BBC One game show may be shopped to other networks/streaming services, nothing concrete is in place at the moment.

When are we going to get “Kelster” back on FBI: International? They have been on the backburner too long. –Jessica
From what I hear, with just two episodes left to air this season, you will probably have to wait for Season 3 for any possible (possible!) new Jamie/Scott interactions of that nature.

What’s going on with Fox’s Housebroken? The scheduling has been hard to follow. –CeCe
New episodes will air every Sunday until June 4, at which point the ‘toon will take a break and return after July 4, with the season finale landing sometime in August.

Gabriela did seem to make her choice in last week’s episode, by bedding Bode. But then again… Bode’s dirty drug test bombshell is bound to complicate things anew. Coming out of the latest episode, “I’d say it’s left pretty open-ended,” The Rookie alum Goo says. “I think Kyle has fallen even more for [Gabriela] after witnessing her on the job, and so if it were up to him, he’s probably down to stick around Edgewater for a bit.” UPDATE: I just screened Friday’s season finale and it is 🍌🍌🍌🍌🍌!!!

Since The Flash‘s Iris got pregnant earlier than she was supposed to, did that have any effect on baby Nora? –Maddie
I actually ran your Q by Grant Gustin when he visited TVLine, and he shared, “We did talk about that. What if because the timing has changed, it’s not actually Nora? And it’s funny, the characters never actually go there with their words. It’s just assumed it’s Nora….”
