AMC on Wednesday morning not only gave its Interview With a Vampire series an early renewal, it also conjured a first batch of photos from its adaptation of the late Anne Rice’s “Lives of the Mayfair Witches” book series.
Anne Rice’s Mayfair Witches (early 2023 premiere date TBD) focuses on an intuitive young neurosurgeon, Dr. Rowan Fielding (played by The White Lotus‘ luminous Alexandra Daddario), who discovers that she is the unlikely heir to a family of witches. As Rowan grapples with her newfound powers, she must contend with a sinister presence that has haunted her family for generations.
The cast also includes Harry Hamlin (L.A. Law) as Cortland Mayfair, Beth Grant (The Mindy Project) as Carlotta Mayfair and Tongayi Chirisa (iZombie) as Ciprien Grieve, Jack Huston (Fargo) as the shape-shifting entity Lasher, Annabeth Gish (The Haunting of Hill House) as Diedre Mayfair, Erica Gimpel (God Friended Me) as Ellie Mayfair and Jen Richards (Better Things) as Jojo.
Masters of Sex‘s Esta Spalding and Michelle Ashford are executive producers and writers on the series, with Spalding serving as showrunner.
AMC Networks last year acquired the rights to an expansive collection of Anne Rice’s works, encompassing 18 titles including both “The Vampire Chronicles” and the “Lives of the Mayfair Witches” series (detailed below). Rice’s son Christopher Rice will serve as executive producers on all projects.
All told, the Anne Rice catalog acquired by AMC includes The Vampire Chronicles’ Interview with the Vampire, The Vampire Lestat, The Queen of the Damned, The Tale of the Body Thief, Memnoch The Devil, The Vampire Armand, Pandora, Vittorio the Vampire, Blood and Gold, Prince Lestat, Prince Lestat and the Realms of Atlantis and Blood Communion: A Tale of Prince Lestat; Lives of the Mayfair Witches’ The Witching Hour, Lasher and Taltos, and the Vampire Chronicles/Mayfair Witches crossover novels Merrick, Blackwood Farm and Blood Canticle.
