American Idol Top 24 Performances End With A Shocking Departure On Night 2: Which Singers Get Your Vote?

Monday's episode of American Idol really did have it all: show-stopping performances, pearls of wisdom from guest mentor Bebe Rexha, and the shocking self-elimination of an early Season 20 frontrunner. And we thought Hawaii was supposed to be relaxing.

All the action went down at Disney's Aulani resort, where the second half of this season's Top 24 performed for America's votes for the first time. (Click here to watch the first 12 singers' performances from Sunday's episode.)

Read on for a breakdown of Monday's performances, along with the judges' (mostly positive) critiques, then drop a comment with your thoughts on the episode — including Kenedi Anderson's completely unexpected departure.

CADENCE BAKER

The judges agreed that this "fantastic" arrangement of Etta James' "Something's Got a Hold On Me" was "off the charts" and really showed off Baker's incredible range. Richie also commented on the "extra burst of confidence" she exhibited, which was missing from previous performances.

SIR BLAYKE

Blayke also "upped his game" from previous performances, reminding the judges that he has a sound unlike any of the other contestants. Beyond his vocals, he can also "move around" well, which contributed to this all-over solid take on The Script's "Breakeven."

ALLEGRA MILES

Miles could do a better job of opening her voice and enunciating, but the judges appreciated her performing Harry Styles' "Adore You" without a guitar for the first time. Beyond just a singer, they see her as a stylist — and they want to see more.

LADY K

Carrie Underwood's "Before He Cheats" helped Lady K find her angst, which the judges very much enjoyed. Moving forward, they want to hear even more of that in her performances. I believe the words "dirtier" and "nastier" were used.

AVA MAYBEE

A song like Chaka Khan's "Tell Me Something Good" has tripped up many an Idol contestant in the past, so the judges applauded Maybee for taking musical risks with such a "dangerous" song choice.

NOAH THOMPSON

More of a howdy than an aloha, Thompson's delivery of The Steeldrivers' "Blue Side of the Mountain" was pure country, very true to his roots. At this point, the judges know he can sing — they just want to hear more of Thompson's unique abilities as he comes out of his shell.

KENEDI ANDERSON

Already a favorite in the competition, Anderson wowed the judges once again with her performance of Harry Styles' "Adore You." Unfortunately, there's no point in discussing it, because the 17-year-old phenom has decided to withdraw from the competition. Click here to read more about that.

LEAH MARLENE

This Leah-fied (not to be confused with Aaliyah-fied) take on Blondie's "Call Me" was just what the doctor — er, judges — ordered. Free of critiques, they told her that she's in a lane all by herself in this competition. She can do anything, and she's only just begun.

CAMERON WHITCOMB

Was Rexha mad at Whitcomb for not using his mic stand? Yes. Furious. But some people simply have too much energy to contain, and he definitely falls — or flips, rather — into that category. From the opening backflip to his closing notes of Creedence Clearwater Revival's "Bad Moon Rising," Whitcomb was on fire this week.

CHRISTIAN GUARDINO

The judges were practically falling over themselves to compliment Guardino, whom the find "super endearing." But even though his performance of Silk Sonic's "Leave the Door Open" proved that Guardino has "the talent and the tools" to win, the judges agreed that he needs to be smart about how he chooses to show off his special abilities.

KATYRAH LOVE

Everything about Love's performance of The Jacksons' "Blame It on the Boogie" felt "natural" to the judges, who noted how comfortable she looked while also exhibiting more control over her powerful pipes.

FRITZ HAGER

Putting Hager on the same level as Kings of Leon and Mumford & Sons, the judges this night-closing performance of Dean Lewis' "Waves." Not only do they think Hager is the "real deal" as an artist, but they can tell that he's finally starting to believe it, too.
