Randall’s not psyched that Beth turns off his treadmill before his run is over. “You shower quick, you can work off that last five minutes a different way,” she replies. Is it any wonder he hightails it to their ensuite bathroom?
SEASON 1, EPISODE 3
It’s not all sexy funtimes, like when Beth gets Randall — who’s spinning after learning William’s updated cancer diagnosis — to take a breath and realize what he’s really upset about. “I do know you don’t have a whole lot of time,” she says, brushing away his tears before they touch foreheads.
SEASON 1, EPISODE 5
Even the prospect of an unplanned sibling for Annie and Tess — which throws Mr. and Mrs. Pearson into turmoil during a date night in Manhattan — gives the couple a moment to reflect fondly on their lives and their future. (And their all-too-real relief when the pregnancy test comes out negative? Yeah, that hits home, too.)
SEASON 1, EPISODE 11
“Get your ass in this tub,” Beth commands her husband… who puts up the tiniest amount of resistance before slipping off his shirt. (Are we noticing a trend here? Yes. Are we complaining? Hell, no.)
SEASON 1, EPISODE 16
“Well, you two sure are adorable,” Randall’s therapist remarks. “We know,” they reply.
SEASON 2, EPISODE 4
“Now you’re working full-time, and looking damn fine in those suede heels, I might add.” Gotta love Randall’s admiration for Beth’s breadwinning status… and her fashion savvy (as well as her “I know” acknowledgement of same).
SEASON 2, EPISODE 7
OK, technically Beth isn’t in the scene where an incensed Randall visits Deja’s mother in prison, but she’s referenced so glowingly in it, we’ll make an exception. “Don’t get it twisted, sis,” he says after Shauna assumes his wife is white. “I wake up every morning next to a head scarf and coconut oil. I’m married to a black queen — not that it’s any of your business.”
SEASON 2, EPISODE 10
Just because Beth is head-over-heels for Randall doesn’t mean that she’s willing to follow him down every tangent, as evidenced by her loving (and perfectly delivered), “Baby, what you talkin’ about?” after his Pac-Man-as-Sissyphus monologue. And when she later tells him, “Damn, that’s bleak as hell, baby,” he instantly counters, “Well, you’re beautiful.” Sigh.
SEASON 2, EPISODE 10
As much as we love Beth and Randall’s fun and warm asides, we’re also here for when they silently back each other up during moments of heartache, such as when their foster child Deja hugs them goodbye and returns home with her mother.
SEASON 2, EPISODE 13
They even make “I told you so” work! Randall’s imitation of his wife earlier in the hour is great, but her imitation of him after he gets waaaay ahead of himself in refurbishing the apartment building is a thing of beauty. “It sounds smarter when you do me than when I do you,” he notes, and he’s right.
