When Meredith slammed the brakes on a prospective relationship with Scott Elrod’s sexy Army doc in Season 12, he promised, “I’ll be waiting until you’re ready, because I’m pretty sure you’re worth waiting for.” Well, right he was, and now, ready she is!
When Loren Dean’s doc visited Seattle for Mer’s Season 14 presentation, he spent a morning flirting with her before realizing who she was. And after he learned her identity? He still thought she was too charming to hate for beating him to the punch with her groundbreaking surgery on Megan.
Mer couldn’t help but admit that she was flattered when the young doc impetuously planted a kiss on her in Season 14’s finale. “And you have that face!” she acknowledged. But is Maggie’s ex-boyfriend really emotionally mature enough for her older half sister? Probably not.
Chris Carmack’s ‘Ortho God’
Though little is known about the Nashville alum’s new recurring character — including his name — he’s supposed to be amazing at his job, a trait that would certainly appeal to a doctor like Mer, who Vernoff calls “a surgical marvel.”
He and Mer would make a gorgeous couple. But let’s be real. 1. He’s gonna have his hands full with Teddy and Amelia in Season 15. 2. The odds of Grey falling for Cristina’s ex are about as slim as her coming across a problem too big to dance it out.
We know, we know the idea of Mer and her person getting together is a hot-button topic — and one that she’s always laughed off. However, should Jo and Alex’s honeymoon phase be an especially short one… Hey, stranger things have happened. That’s all we’re saying.
Though Vernoff has told us that Scott Speedman’s visiting doc “was designed as a one-episode guest-star [role], which is the whole reason Scott agreed to come play him,” his chemistry with Mer was so off-the-charts that we’re having a hard time giving up hope that he’ll return.
