Paulson will also direct the sixth episode of the season, which features the returns of Connie Britton and Dylan McDermott as Vivien and Ben Harmon from Season 1. Paulson's Murder House persona Billie Dean Howard will also appear.

Also hopping back on their broomsticks are Gabourey Sidibe (as Queenie), Frances Conroy (as Myrtle Snow) and Farmiga (pulling double duty as Zoe Benson).

Paulson will also revisit her Coven roots (as Cordelia Foxx/Goode), along with fellow witches Lily Rabe (as Misty Day) and Stevie Nicks (...as herself).

Taissa Farmiga's Violet is also returning for the Harmon family reunion, along with Evan Peters' Tate, arguably one of Horror Story's most twisted creations.

Seriously, don't be fooled by Tate's charming smile...

Speaking of menaces, Emma Roberts will reprise the iconic role of Coven's Madison Montgomery.

One of Sarah Paulson's multiple Season 8 personas is this menacincly dressed public official named Venable, first introduced via a chilling promo in which she says, "Now is your chance to be one of the few remaining. This is your chance to survive. We'll find you soon."

...or this adorable shot of him palling around with Dr. Harmon. The kid is a menace.

Regular AHS viewers will appreciate seeing these returning favorites in new roles, some of which remain mysteries: Billy Eichner, Leslie Grossman (as Coco St. Pierre Vanderbilt), Kathy Bates (as Ms. Meade), Billie Lourd (as Mallory), Cheyenne Jackson and Adina Porter (as Dinah Stevens).

Of course, even some of the actors making their Horror Story debuts should look familiar — especially to those who watch multiple Ryan Murphy-produced shows. For example, Cody Fern (American Crime Story: Versace) will play the grown-up version of Murder House's Michael Langdon, while Billy Porter (Pose) will also appear in an undisclosed role.

Lastly, several actors will be joining the Murphy-verse via Apocalypse, including Dynasty queen Joan Collins, who will play the grandmother of Peters' non-Tate character. Other newbies include Jeffrey Bowyer-Chapman (UnREAL), Kyle Allen (The Path) and Lesley Fera (Pretty Little Liars).

We're happy to report that Jessica Lange will return for the season's Paulson-directed sixth episode, reprising the role of Murder House's Constance Langdon. This marks Lange's first AHS appearance since the Freak Show finale aired in 2015.

Set about 18 months in the future, Season 8 "begins with the end of the world — and then our world begins," executive producer Alexis Martin Woodall teased earlier this summer. (Gee, suddenly that nuclear mushroom cloud in the Apocalypse teaser makes a lot more sense.)
