Capt. Benson’s team is down another staffer: Molly Burnett, who plays Det. Grace Muncy, is no longer a series regular on Law & Order: SVU, TVLine has learned.
The character’s exit was made clear in Thursday’s two-hour SVU/Organized Crime crossover, which also marked the season finales of both procedurals. At one point in the first hour, Muncy shared with Velasco that Chief McGrath had been so impressed with her work on the Elias Olsen case that he’d offered her a promotion to a task force. And then, at the end of the second hour, Fin hugged Muncy goodbye and told her he’d miss her as she packed up her desk to head off to the new job she’d apparently accepted off-screen. Burnett’s time in the squad room was short-lived. She joined the series in July 2022, playing a Bronx gang unit detective who joined Benson’s Special Victims Unit at the start of Season 24. Her previous TV credits include Days of Our Lives, Queen of the South, Chicago P.D. and FBI: Most Wanted.

The character, to me, never really worked. I like the actress though, I hope she moves to something that better suits her. In this role, she seemed almost like she was… I don’t know, trying to act “street” the whole time? And also her voice sounded.. fake? I don’t know how to explain it.
I get it. I felt the same with Kathrine law her character on Hawaii five_0 felt like something was wrong but now she is slaying her character in NCIS being my favorite.
Well they really didn’t do much with her character. Iys like they didnt give her anything to do.. then you gave that other chick that i just cannot get into. She was so great on the queen of the south series I had high expectations when she joined the show.

Yes I, for one, will her character. I was hoping the writers would punch her character for more screen time. I have always enjoyed Molly’s work, especially on Queen of the South!
Thank goodness. I enjoy the actress but the character was awful.
Won’t really miss her. Except for Kelli Giddish, they’ve had trouble finding a female role and actor that works well along with Mariska Hargitay. I hope they figure that out. I will miss the actor who left Organized Crime last night more. He was a great part of that team.

Word of advice to actors: Dont audition to be a regular in SVU. Im so sick of the head honchos like DW firing people just like that.

I agree! Won’t miss Muncy. I really liked this years cast for OC! Sad Jamie is gone. Only new character I’ve liked on SVU this year is Bruno. I hope Rollins comes back.
My son will miss her. Why did she leave the show?
Either she asked out or the producers decided not to keep her because they had written her character into a box–someone who really did not evolve to fit in SVU–so that there was no point in having her return.
Just when I was starting to get used to her. And I would love to have Rollins back, as long as Kelly is willing!
The character was awful and she dressed like a bum. Benson even told her to wear a jacket and use some of her money to look more professional. I think the actress looks like a nice person. She certainly tried to promote the show on Tweeter when she was on….but I am not going to miss her. Hoping Rawlins comes back in a new capacity in the squad where she doesn’t have to put herself in the line of danger, but can use her psych education to help catch the criminals,
Yes, her hair was atrocious up to and including the last episode (last night).

Will not miss this character. She never seemed to fit in and didn’t make an attempt to do so. She always seemed out of “sync” with the rest of the crew.
Now that she’s gone I’ll miss her but I was disappointed they cut Amanda for her in the beginning. I don’t think her absence will be that gaping except for what she had with Velasco.
Nothing against Burnett, but the character was awful and an overall bad fit; she never really gelled at all (and Velasquez hasn’t been much better to be honest). The two “try outs” from the Bronx SVU bureau are actually better than either of those two, though what really needs to happen is that they need to fix their mistake and bring Amanda back (along with either Amaro or Kat).
Good riddance. She never meshed with the other characters. Bring back Rollins. It’s obvious she is who fans want.
I didn’t think she fit it well. So I won’t miss her. Hope Bruno comes in for Season 25, and Rollins comes back on OC!

Shame I liked her she was the closest to a female Stabler the show has had in a long time. But it is L&O this series has had characters rotating for ages.

I literally watched both of these episodes, on air and just now again on demand, the end of OC is the gift exchange, the end of SVU is the bounty hit on Stabler and Benson. This article calls the scene and extended version, there’s no Muncy sendoff in the episode that aired. Post a clarification

I watched it last night & saw Fin hugging Muncy, then she packs her box up & Velasco carries it for her…
I saw the scene, as well. I was surprised there was just the mention in passing about the job offer early in the episode and then nothing until her brief goodbye scene at the end.

The actress is good, I have seen her in other projects. However, the character just never fit with the rest of the squad. Wish her the best in her future gigs.

I’m sorry to see Muncy leave. She was totally under utilized. They never put her where she needed to be. I guess its harder to replace Rollins than they thought. BRING ROLLINS BACK.

I liked her! It’s actually been pretty cool to see Olivia really mentor new detectives who join her squad. The DEA team does seem more her speed, though.
