Five months after announcing her exit from Hallmark Channel, Candace Cameron Bure is confirmed for her first holiday movie for GAC Family.
Great American Family announced on Tuesday morning that Bure is set to star in and executive-produce A Christmas… Present, which will bow in November as part of the cabler’s “Great American Christmas” programming event (which returns Oct. 21).
Conceived and developed through Bure’s Candy Rock Entertainment shingle, A Christmas…Present finds the holiday-movie staple playing Maggie Larson, an overly scheduled real estate agent and Type-A mom who takes her family to spend Christmas with her widowed brother and his daughter.
Maggie and her brother have decidedly different expectations for the holiday, but through a series of transformative events, Maggie learns to embrace the reason for the season.
“A Christmas… Present is about slowing down enough to recognize what’s right in front of our eyes,” Bure said in a statement. “The hustle and bustle of the Christmas season will arrive before we know it but it’s through the quiet moments that we hear God speak to us, directing our path to what’s most important.”
Great American Media president Bill Abbott in turn touted A Christmas… Present as being “indicative of the memorable movies and family-friendly entertainment that Great American Media is looking forward to creating with Candace and the Candy Rock team.”
At the time of her split with Hallmark to join GAC Family, Bure said, “I’m very excited to develop heartwarming family and faith-filled programming and make the kind of stories my family and I love to watch…. GAC fits my brand perfectly; we share a vision of creating compelling wholesome content for an audience who wants to watch programming for and with the whole family.”
Sounds sweet! I love her movies. :)
❤
I tried out a few of the GAC movies last year, not expecting much at all. However, I found them to be pretty enjoyable and felt like they had more creative energy behind them (not to say that they were brilliant works of art). Hallmark’s movies started feeling like they were just being churned out by a computer algorithm, rather than actual human beings. So I’m looking forward to seeing what she can do on GAC this year.
The Hallmark story lines do tend to seem a little rote at times
Bye. Trust me no one at Hallmark is going to miss this two faced, fake female dog :)
Agreed – she can celebrate her backwards views with the 50,000 viewers over at GAC while Lacey rules the roost at Hallmark infront of millions.
Grow up. It’s not like you know her. None of us truly knows any celebrity.
You’re right.
.
All people know about her is what she says and does.
She is a horrible person. Yuck!

In the description of the movie, it should say “her widowered brother”.
I do so love proper English. Thank you. It was gnawing at me as well.
Not gonna miss her, and not going to subscribe to GAC (it’s only on the top tier of my provider). I know she has her fans, I’m not one.
Sorry CCB. I’d rather watch Lacey Chabert at Hallmark! 👍🏻
‘Family friendly’ and ‘wholesome’…. ‘faith-filled programming’… CCB is as phony as a $3 bill. I’ve got the new Abbott channels blocked on my TV but am really looking forward to watching all of the now wonderfully inclusive and diverse Wonya Lucas led Hallmark projects. I do hope Lacey Chabert is having a good day – love Lacey with her open mind and welcoming heart!
How is Hallmark different? Do you really think their “inclusivity” isn’t all about business? Do you think they make decisions not based on money?
I will watch both networks. I don’t need a network to agree with me in order to watch them.
I’m really digging the super tolerant people here, spewing venom at anyone whose beliefs don’t line up with their own. I don’t think “inclusive” or “diverse” mean what you think they mean.

AWESOME!! A movie I absolutely won’t watch, on a network I will never tune into by a celebrity I will never respect!
This one was like hitting the trifecta for me!
I am definitely going to watch this. I really like her.
I am a Republican. If I decided not to watch any movie that had a actor I didn’t agree with, I wouldn’t watch much of anything.
How narrow minded can you be? Some of you may think you’re inclusive, but you’re just inclusive with people that think like you.
I enjoyed watching her in movies on Hallmark and her show on Netflix; I will not be following her to GAC; I have no problem with her politics, I disagree with her trying to force her religion on others.
By having a religion? By creating religious programming? By talking about it? Is that how she forces it on you?
I am not very religious and I don’t feel pressure from her to be religious.
So pious to support anti-gay LOSERS, right?
Who said she’s anti-gay? Do you usually lump all religious people together?
You want to know why people think she is anti-gay? Look no further than Denise’s comment below about having to explain to her children why two men who love each other are kissing on screen. Kids don’t care and don’t even ask questions like that. Love is love. Stop sticking up for people like this.
You’ve already expressed more bigotry and hate than I’ve ever seen from Candace. I hope you’re able to let go of some of that, and find a way to be more accepting of others. You’ll feel better when you do.
Go, Elizabeth
LOL.
That’s not how it works. We are inclusive of everyone who isn’t a racist bigot or who isn’t trying to take away our rights as people with uteruses. So yea, as a Republican that includes you. Sorry not sorry.
Not every republican agrees with where you’ve lumped them. You’re proving the point exactly…unless “they” think and feel like you do on every single subject, then they’re awful. Which makes you a hypocrite. Sorry not sorry.
You might not agree with them but you will still vote for them, right? So you literally will still vote to take away my rights and you want to gaslight me into somehow thinking it’s my fault? NOT HAPPENING. Yes, human rights are OPINIONS. If that makes me a hypocrite I don’t give a flying F. You still don’t understand it. If you vote for someone who is willing to take away my rights, you don’t deserve much more than being called for what you are.
I probably won’t watch because the GAc films were terrible last year. The non-holiday films were even worse. Look I don’t agree with her politics and didn’t watch her films for a long time until I broke down because I really liked sone of her costars. And I liked her films despite her presence in them. But the GAc films were just terrible. I thought the UP network and ION films were bad, but GAc found a shovel. And not because of the overt regressive political views which were clumsily shoehorned in. But because of how bad the dialog and writing and acting was in those films. There are a few of the stars who I like well enough to watch their films on GAc but if the films don’t get a lot better, I won’t watch.
I agree with some of your comment. I watched the Danica Mckellar one last winter. It wasn’t the writing that was bad in that one, but the leads had no chemistry.
You have to remember that Hallmark has been around longer and also has some duds of their own. I will try GAC again this Christmas.
I also want to add that the writer of her new Christmas movie has written several scripts for Hallmark including Groundswell and Christmas at Castle Hart.
Let’s not pretend that money is not playing a factor for why some of the actors are moving from Hallmark and signing exclusive deals with GAC. Jen Lilley can go from being a top 10 lead in Hallmark movies to one of the top 2-3 stars on GAC, which likely equals a higher salary. Bure was one of the queens of Hallmark, GAC she is the top star.
Does anyone really think that Bure and Lilley would not still be making movies for Hallmark if Hallmark was the only option? Would they have left Hallmark for GAC to make less money?
Not sure why you’re bringing Jen Liley into this. She’s worked on a variety of different movies, and if GAC wants to give her a multi-picture deal, then what is the problem?
She ditched her fellow actors who were in the Aurora Teagarden mysteries at Hallmark. They should replace her; she’s not all that!
They could replace her but I think Hallmark is getting rid of a lot of their mystery shows.
Seems like Hallmark ended the mysteries, which left a lot of actors and viewers hanging. Maybe she left because of how that situation was handled.
After everything that has happened with her I don’t find her genuine. It’s like all this time she is putting up an appearance she wants to portray. I wasn’t a fan but I thought she was being herself.
So excited too for these new movies that I can watch with my grandchildren and not have to explain why two men are kissing on screen. Thank you Candance for making this move. I appreciate your courage and convictions.
Children don’t even notice as they were not brought up in such a bigoted world, you are projecting on the kids that they should be horrified. Grow up
My ten year old gets really grossed out when she sees anyone kissing. Kids do pay attention. There are many movies I wouldn’t let my kids watch for multiple reasons. To each his own , sure, but parental guidance is definitely needed in the world today. Personally, I’ll try GAC but that doesn’t mean I won’t watch Hallmark.
I love Candace. If someone wants to move from a job that is doing what they don’t believe ,in, whose place is it for any of us to tell them they should stay in that job. If someone is pushing their beliefs on you and in your face for increased followers and ratings, move somewhere your beliefs are respected. You don’t have to agree. Gac gave those with a belief in God and his teachings and biblical family a platform to voice their beliefs. There are plenty of stations out there for those that don’t believe.
Seriously, Denise? It’s called Love. Your bigotry is exactly what we won’t tolerate.
Will be watching, everyone has a right to go where they want to. God Bless you!❤🙏
I don’t know what all the catty comments are about (what, are we in 7th grade?) I’m proud of Candace and the other stars for dumping the trashy Hallmark clone factory and working towards something more meaningful.
