Big Sky‘s [Spoiler] Won’t Be a Series Regular in Season 3 — Find Out Why
Things are going to look a little different around Dewell & Hoyt when Big Sky returns for Season 3.
Omar Metwally, who plays U.S. Marshal Mark Lindor, is no longer a series regular on the ABC drama, showrunner Elwood Reid tells TVLine exclusively.
The executive producer says the change in status is the result of a scheduling conflict and nothing more. “At the end of [Season 2], Omar came to me and he had this opportunity to be in an off-season play. And I said ‘sure,'” Reid recalls. “I didn’t know if we were coming back. I didn’t know when we would come back.”
So Metwally accepted a role in Brian Watkins’ Epiphany at Lincoln Center Theater in New York City. And when Big Sky was renewed for a third season, shooting began earlier than normal — “way earlier, a month earlier than when we were last year,” Reid says. Because Metwally was still committed to the play at that point, “I had to write him out,” the EP says.
The last time Lindor appeared on Big Sky was in the Season 2 finale, as he hung out at the office with Denise while Cassie and Jenny had some “girl time” at the bar. Reid reassures viewers that the U.S. Marshal, who’d gotten quite flirty with both Jerrie and Cassie, is “not dead, he’s not gone. He may show up, in fact, at some point. But he’s not in this first group of episodes.”
Big Sky‘s new season will premiere on a new night — Wednesday, Sept. 21, at 10/9c.

I hope he will return in some capacity later in the season. I liked his character & that little love triangle he’s in the middle of a lot last season. I think Big Sky Season 3 will be a terrific one, it’s one of the few shows I am looking forward to seeing
I adore Mark with Jerrie. So much tenderness and affection in their scenes together. Cassie needs someone else.
I’m Cassie and Mark. There was scene after scene with Mark favoring Cassie. The one scene with Mark and Jerrie kissing; even that was initiated by Jerre.
I am bummed. While Jerri is my fave overall, I am team Cassie on this ship.
Jerrie deserves to be someone’s first choice.

Babygate, over the Summer I watched 3movies and 1 TV Series that Metwally was Cast in and his Hair is styled differently in Big Sky. I’m thinking that it was a Writer’s Choice. If you want either a comment or a good laugh, then see Metwally dance in I enjoy replying.
I forgot to give the title of the movie where I commented about his hair and my laughing at his dancing. The Movie is: Breakable You and he starred in it in 2019.

I rewatched the series during the pandemic and he is a really good actor.
I am totally bummed that Lindor wont be back in the beginning of Season 3!! He is a Great Actor and I love his Character!!
Perhaps the writers could make his U.S. Marshall character be “re-assigned” to a different area of the state…maybe say Yellowstone? They seem to always have problems there too!

I don’t see Reba increasing the Viewership if you don’t have a Mark and Cassie. The Mark and Cassie relationship gave a Real Insight to Crime Drama i.e. Professional Life and Personal Life. Mark and Cassie looked real i.e. (1) Mark older and mature (2) Both Professionally Focused (3) Socially Awkward I think their relationship was the cause of viewer increase toward the end of Season2.
This really sucks, in of the last year’s previous shows. Not just Big Sky, seems some of the major characters are leaving. You get used to them fall in love with characters and then poof, they are gone.
I agree and the only thing that helps (at least in this Show) is that You know the Truth as to the persons choice (not the Character) and the “Open Door” for his return. I hope the Executives and Writers will quickly realize the Show’s Rating Benefit to having Metwally return

I passed “BUMED OUT”!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I’ve lived all summer for a blooming beautiful romance between Mark and Cassie. I saw this “coupling” as A realistic touch to a Crime Drama. The relationship showed the other challenges in Professional vs Personal Lives and it added more interest to this show. Perhaps it was this relationship that caused a late increase in Viewers.
Yes! He was awesome in that part. I hope to see him again very soon….
I am very upset Lindor won’t be back at first but hope he will show up at a later date. I was really looking forward to the return of this show but I’d like to see Lindor again!
Mark is one of my favorites with the cast of Big Sky…Please resign him as a regular when he is frree to do so. I missed him as soon as I began watching the Season 3 Episode 1 egan.

I will miss the Mark Lindor character. He was a good, honest, handsome good guy. I thought he and Cassie were a great match. After the murder of her beloved dad, she needed someone like Mark in her corner. I hope he returns.
I DO want him back, but I liked him with Cassie…the Jerry thing didn’t make sense. Cassie basically saved her life, I don’t believe that Jerry would have poached Mark from her!
I think Mark and Cassie’s personal added a great deal to the show. Almost all of the Crime Dramas have a Personal Love Couple. I certainly did not like the reference to Jessie. Understanding why Mark was written out of the first session I know the Writers can bring him back with Cassie. Without Closure the Donno and Tonya are not clear.
I agree. The Dunno and Tanya???????????????? I would not eat anything Dunno prepared; it might be a Human Body.
I loved the Mark character. Mostly the reason I watch. I thought he and Cassie were an awesome couple and well matched. Didn’t care for the Jerrie intrusion. Bring him back….for Cassie.
On behalf of Omar Metwally, I understand his request. The Writers hopefully will respond to many Viewers request to have him return to the Cassie relationship. No more Jerrie.

I’m thrilled Lindor is not returning. As much as I like Omar as an actor, the character does not feel well suited for Cassie. He looks old enough to be her dad. I would love to see Cassie strike up a relationship with Beau, who she has much more smoky chemistry with.
I loved the show in the beginning, now it’s hard to tell if it wants to be a drama or a comedy.
Katheryn Winnick’s over acting seems to be a joke.
