Altered Carbon‘s Takeshi Kovacs has been in suspended animation for centuries… but does he look rested to you? (Yeah, us either.)
These exclusive first look photos from Netflix’s upcoming sci-fi drama give us a good glimpse of Joel Kinnaman’s character, a former elite interstellar warrior known as an Envoy who has been imprisoned — read: put on ice — for a really long time. He’s brought out of storage to solve a murder… by the murdered party himself, Laurens Bancroft (played by The Following‘s James Purefoy).
In the photo above, Takeshi is accompanied by Chris Connor (American Crime Story) who plays Poe. The photo below shows the Envoy with Vernon Elliott (played by Chicago Med‘s Ato Essandoh) just after they’ve fought a man who’s interfering with the Bancroft investigation. Spoiler alert: The severed head in Takeshi’s hand will probably clue you in to how that fight ends.
Elsewhere in the dystopian series based on Richard K. Morgan’s 2002 novel of the same name, we meet Quellcrist Falconer (Hamilton star and One Life to Live alum Renée Elise Goldsberry), a savvy strategist who once led a rebellion against the whole unending-life concept and who had a little somethin’-somethin’ going on with Takeshi.
The series hits the online video streaming service on Friday, Feb. 2. In the meantime, take a good look at the shots at the top and bottom of this post, then hit the comments: Are you planning to binge Altered Carbon once it’s available?
