Chicago Fire Scoop: Friday Night Lights Vet to Replace Mills as New Medic

Chicago Fire Dora Madison Burge

Chicago Fire has tapped Friday Night Lights alumna Dora Madison Burge to guest-star in the final three episodes of Season 3 as the new paramedic in charge at Firehouse 51, TVLine has learned.

Burge’s Jessica “Chili” Chilton is a vivacious young medic who finds herself teamed with Sylvie Brett. With the firehouse still mourning Peter Mills’ departure, Chili faces an uphill battle in her new workplace.

The casting marks Burge’s second appearance in the Chicago universe: After impressing producers during her Fire audition for Brett, she landed the role of Antonio’s informant JellyBean on Chicago P.D.

Chicago Fire Dora Madison BurgeExecutive producer Matt Olmstead tells TVLine that the show will acknowledge the fact that the two characters are played by the same actress.

There will be “a little nod toward the fact that her nickname is Chili, because her last name’s Chilton and she has a sister that actually left Chicago to go be with her other sister in Kansas City,” the EP explains. “It’s worth it to just throw away that she’s the sister of a character we saw once upon a time on P.D. and never go back to it. We’re never going to play twin scenes… I can’t think of anybody better for the role than her.”

Burge, whose TV credits also include Star-Crossed and Dexter, makes her Fire debut on this Tuesday’s episode, “We Call Her JellyBean.”
