NCIS Scoop: Cote de Pablo to Exit This Fall, Producers Promise 'Appropriate Closure' for Ziva

Cote de Pablo Leaving NCIS Cote de Pablo is invoking Gibbs’ Rule No. 11 — “When the job is done, walk away” — and has decided to leave CBS’ NCIS.

The actress, whose contract expired at the end of Season 10, will appear at the start of Season 11 (premiering Sept. 24) to conclude Ziva’s story.

“I’ve had eight great years with NCIS and Ziva David,” the actress shares. “I have huge respect and affection for Mark [Harmon], Gary [Glasberg], Michael [Weatherly], David [McCallum], Rocky [Carroll], Pauley [Perrette], Brian [Dietzen], Sean [Murray], all of the team and CBS. I look forward to finishing Ziva’s story.”

In a statement, CBS said, “We respect Cote’s decision, thank her for being an important part of the NCIS team, and for eight terrific years playing Ziva David. Cote and CBS share a great respect for the NCIS audience, and we look forward to working with her and the producers on appropriate closure in this chapter of Ziva’s story.”

News of De Pablo’s departure comes at the proverbial 11th hour, since NCIS is due to resume production next week. Her future with the show has been conspicuously in question since the spring, when her character of Ziva was steered into a dangerous mission of vengeance, at one point winding up in a (seemingly) brutal car crash.

After emerging from that episode-ending cliffhanger surprisingly unscathed, by season’s end Ziva and others had resigned from NCIS — and then the season ended with a four-month time jump, the disenfranchised agents thus far unaccounted for.

Show boss Gary Glasberg maintained back in April, when de Pablo stood as the only cast member unsigned for Season 11, “I’m confident that things will work out, and we’ll present the best finale that we can and go from there.”

Are you bummed that Ziva and de Pablo are outta there?

all I can say is ROFLMAO…. thats why it SUCKS to drag on good chemistry

    • M3rc Nate says:

ROFLMAO as well from me. This is one of the shows that i kinda enjoy watching but find to have more than one of the negative problems that Network TV is known for and why Cable TV is so insanely loved. One of the biggest being how insanely stale the show is and how frozen the characters are. NCIS is the biggest cash cow ever so they give you changes that they renege on…always bringing the characters back to where they started. They say “we cant risk Tiva because if 1 outta every 5 viewers stops watching because we did, thats millions and millions of viewers”…but thats ball-less suits talking. No decisions being made purely out of artistic creative ism. So unlike Bones or Castle or many other shows that actually evolve the characters a bit (for Network TV standards) NCIS after 10 seasons is still teasing (and will never stop) Tiva, and McGee and Abby.

They are so screwed as well, because after being so lucky to have “Kate” aka Sasha Alexander and her chemistry with Tony (people were shipping them), they then got a unknown who also happen to have great chemistry with Tony (Ziva Aka Cote)…now going into season 11 when even the biggest NCIS fan has to admit the show is getting tired, repetitive, and stale, Tony is like 40+ years old and still insanely single (along with every other character), they have to bring in a new woman (you’d assume) who you’d assume has to have the character arc of having chemistry with Tony…which if it works then shipping for them which might never happen (more of the same) or they dont have good chemistry and viewers are like “uhhh…are you trying to force Tony and ____ down our throats? They dont have good chemistry! Wheres Cote? I miss Ziva!” and loss of lots of viewers. I would have stopped watching this show a LONG time ago if it wasnt for the fact i have a 6 tuner PVR so i can record everything, and i skip commercials so shows are only 42 min long, so i go through episodes fast. But if i had my old 2 Tuner Tivo, i wouldnt have seen a episode since season 7.

There is a great upside, not for NCIS cause Frack NCIS, at least NCIS LA is going places with Deeks and Kensi, but Cote seems to be a FANTASTIC actress and is unique (not just another Caucasian actress, shes a great ethnicity to play a ton of awesome empowered badass roles) so i cant wait to see her on a Cable TV show/Original Programming Internet show aka Netflix/Hulu (where the quality and artistic integrity and creation is) or in movies.

      • NCIS Fan says:

        well stated.

        • JD says:

Here’s what they need to do: Director Vance retires to spend more time with his family, combined with Ziva’s “departure”, SECNAV decides to take advantage and shake things up to keep the NCIS agents on their toes. Gibbs is offered an ultimatum, take over as the new Director or retire. Not wanting to leave Ducky, Tony and McGee in a complete lurch, he agrees to be an interim director until things smooth out and a new team is in place. Deeks becomes a full NCIS agent, but then he and Kensi are relocated from LA to D.C. and become part of the new team with Tony and McGee. After a few inital bumps, the new group learns to work together, and Gibbs learns that the Director job isn’t all bad (he gets to piss off all the right people and get away with it more because of the new job title).

They get to transplant an already established “will they/won’t they” love story, make some necessary cast changes and push the character’s into new areas (Gibbs is forced to play some politics which we know he doesn’t like but sees it as a sacrifice to keep his remaining friends happier, Tony finally gets the team leader opportunity he deserves, and we get to see Michael Weatherly and Eric Olsen on the screen at the same time. Ha!)

NCIS: LA can deal with the completely new cast members and shake up their formula a bit before falling into the same trap as the original show. This is my new TV wish.

          • K Richards says:

            Interesting thought. :-)

          • SP says:

I can’t believe this is happening. Smh not watching past episode 1 I guess. Not that I wanna watch Ziva leave. This is soo messed up. But JD I think you should become a writer! Nice ideas.

          • GeeMa says:

Love your idea. And Tony and Deeks……yes. This way, Tony has to grow up and Deeks is there for the immature role.

          • Judy says:

NCIS: Although I love the show….I have to comment that the writer’s have no original thought…they kill everybody off…that’s it …move on…So their report that they will let Ziva’s story line play out is just telling us that Ziva will be dead before the next season is over….feel helpless anyone???

          • Elle says:

Or they could just recast Ziva. Soaps do it all the time. Get someone else to play Ziva.

          • Terrible idea. The character was as bad as the actress. Neither is worth having around.

          • JC says:

Yeah no, that wouldn’t work for me, since I like Hetty and Sam and Callen far more than Gibbs or Tony. I’ll trade you Eric and Nell for McGee and an occasional Ducky appearance though. :) Ducky and Hetty scenes….. This. Must. Happen.

          • Elle says:

Maybe the idea is not your cup of tea, but it isn’t terrible. I watch because of Ziva mostly. I’d rather they recast her than kill her off or destroy her character like The Closer PTB did to Brenda

          • Kathy says:

Its going to be a bum not seeing ziva she was outstanding good in what she did, and was a good team mate with Tony and the other cast. I rather see the boss that gibbs reports to – to leave instead of Ziva.

          • Lee says:

I know i’m behind on the NCIS episodes, including LA, but I did catch it this week. What is this “Red Team” stuff. I didn’t care for that at all!!! And that jerk that has been around before better leave our Hetty alone. I just want someone to pop him a good one!

          • JC says:

@Lee, the “Red Team” was a concept for an NCIS LA spinoff that didn’t end up getting picked up.

          • Michael says:

NCIS:Red hasn’t been picked up yet. It is possible it will still come on the air especially since several time slots came open with the cancellation of CSI New York Golden Boy and Las Vegas. though hopefully CSI Las Vegas will get cancelled so that Red could get into that time slot. I just don’t think you need 3 NCIS shows on the same night.

          • Matt Webb Mitovich says:

No, NCIS: RED isn’t happening. CBS has plenty of inventory.

          • Marissa says:

NCIS Red is dead. There’s no hope for it. Press release said that CBS declined to pick up because they were protecting the NCIS brand. Harsh but not without reason

          • Matt Webb Mitovich says:

I saw no such press release/language. Link?

          • Marissa says:

Nina Tassler’s comments from the Upfronts, rather than a press release, sorry about the confusion.

            http://www.nydailynews.com/entertainment/tv-movies/cbs-unveils-fall-season-2013-14-schedule-article-1.1344606?pgno=1 and http://blog.zap2it.com/frominsidethebox/2013/05/ncis-red-spinoff-beverly-hills-cop-series-dead-at-cbs-why-they-didnt-get-picked-up.html

“Tassler said the network just “went a little different” with the decision on “Beverly Hills Cop,” and said the verdict on “Red Team” was based on “protecting the [‘NCIS’] brand.”

I suppose the NCIS part could be implied, it could be protecting the CBS brand.

          • Alisa Neely says:

i have seen it said, that NCIS:RED is “DEAD”…..it just didn’t work……they may do it some time down the road…..but as of NOW, it’s dead.

          • tonya says:

I have always watched NCIS and I don’t think it will be the same without Ziva.

          • lka says:

            WOW…That works for me

          • elr says:

I like it! The only way to get themselves out of the corner they have painted themselves into.

          • Laura Catalan says:

That wouldn’t actually be so bad….. It would be pretty sweet although it won’t be the same with the Family team we’re all used to but…. THAT day has come so… That would be pretty good…. =)

          • Jaqi TerHAAR says:

I could buy into this story line!

          • Lois says:

Since Ziva is leaving which I am saddened about they need to bring back Jean and rekindle that chemistry her and Tony had. They also need to bring Mann back there was pure chemistry with her and Gibbs characters. McGee and Abby do belong together no doubt about that.

          • Lorenzo says:

Not a bad idea at all. You should write for the the two NCIS’s.

          • Duke says:

No I don’t like that course at all. I like Ziva, a lot, and i don’t want her to leave. AND I love Kensi and Deeks, DON’T MESS THAT UP TOO!!

          • Gamester says:

JD – awesome post – CBS will never do it now since they would have to pay you.

          • @JD..I totally LOVE your take on the whole situation, they need to put you on the payroll because you have done a job re-working the entire franchise in one narrative that “The Powers That Be” (TPTB) at NCIS have been failing on for at least 3 seasons. I wholeheartedly wish that TPTB at NCIS will do something similar because it is total BS they have been feeding us on both the “Tiva” situation, and that neither NCIS office seem to be working for the same agency save for a few crumbs they tossed at the viewers. I love both NCIS shows, the character Zive, and Cote DePablo as an actress however they both need a bit of shaking up to keep the show fresh, relevant, and most importantly for TPTB marketable. The bright side here being that Cote DePablo we will hopefully be able to see in other avenues.

          • Marissa says:

There are legal reasons the shows are no longer intertwined, as the creator of NCIS sued the show runner for NCIS Los Angeles and CBS for royalty on the franchise he was not receiving.

          • Reeny says:

Great thought. It would be nice if the producers read your comment. I’d like to add that my wish is for Tony and Ziva to make it official and that can be her reason for leaving.. and it leaves it open for an occasional guest spot. SO much better than killing her off like they did Kate. Not everyone who leaves has to die.

          • Linda Martz says:

I really like that idea, as long as they keep Abby.

          • Danette Berzins says:

            VERY VERY GOOD.

          • Suzy says:

If it wasnt for NCIS I probably wouldnt watch tv, as most other associated shows with the original one I dont watch NCIS Los Angeles, I dislike the fact Cote is leaving the show, but wish her the best in her endevors, think she should rethink it over as doubt she will be content in anything else that has given so much success as NCIS, Love the other actors, need more excitement to the mix, more cliffhangers…its the best show on tv today hands down.

          • Marissa says:

Perhaps the decision was motivated by personal life rather than professional aspirations

          • Steve B says:

Maybe Cota will change her mind or that CBS can come to a compromise somewhere in between to satisfy both parties. If there was enough backlash about this situation it might change some minds.

          • susan says:

            I like your ideas!

          • Tammy says:

Sounds like a good way to continue both shows. I just really hate that Ziva will be gone! NCIS is one of my favorite shows. Great idea JD

          • Steve B says:

Thanks, A T V show with The Denozzos Ziva and Tony would not only be entertaining but bring C B S a definite hit. But, that should be after NCIS finishes their run as the best show on T V. If NCIS jumps at this idea the Denozzos it must leave an opening possibility somehow for the future.

          • Mike Csoleman says:

Hard to believe they would not meet her salary request, or at least find an agreeable
midpoint. Ziva is an outstanding asset to the show. Talented, attractive and a great
publicist for the show. In a time when television, as we have know it, is almost gone,
this is a mistake. I believe Ziva will benefit and the show and it’s ratings will suffer.

          • stressline2013 says:

This is from The Huffington Post five days ago:

CBS CEO Les Moonves addressed the cast shakeup.

“We offered Cote a lot of money and then we offered her even more money,” Moonves said. “We really didn’t want to lose her. We love her … We obviously were in discussion with the rest of the cast and the producers [and Cote]. Ultimately, she decided she didn’t want to do the show.”

          • Alisa Neely says:

and yet, her fans DON’T want to believe it was HER CHOICE to leave….i can understand that, given the past CBS and female actresses have had and such.

          • stressline2013 says:

Let’s see, there’s Criminal Minds: “The network is citing “creative reasons” for the release of A.J. Cook, who plays Jennifer Jareau, and the subsequent scaling back of Paget Brewster’s character, Emily Prentiss. Cook has been noticeably mum about the situation, although Brewster has been more vocal, using Twitter to state that claiming said creative reasons is “bulls–t” and that the decision to fire Cook and diminish the Prentiss character are purely financial. (MarieClaire. com 2010).

More recently: “”Blue Bloods” actress Jennifer Esposito is blasting CBS for sidelining her from the police drama. In Twitter postings, she accused the network of “absolutely shameful behavior” in putting her on unpaid leave.” (CBS New 2012)

On the other hand if this decision was anything but Cote’s then she’s being silent about it for her own reasons.

          • Alisa Neely says:

and they aparently offered her 2x the amount she is WORTH….and yet, she still left…..and i agree, with what you said about the other 2 cases with CBS.

          • Dottie McDermott says:

            I like that idea

          • Lisa says:

I would love something like this. Or any other mixing between these casts from time to time. Would love to see Gibbs and Hetty cooperating on an op. Get the geeks together from time to time to over the big screens. Are not both of these shows NCIS? High up in the same agency but they never cross paths or mention the LA and DC offices is not realistic. They need more cross ref.

          • JD I think you may have something here…. Would really love it if Ziva stayed but just hope they don’t kill her off.

          • Joyce Adams says:

If they are not going to pay Ziva what she is worth and bring her back, I think that shake-up might work for a couple of years, but we get set in our ways and were rooting for Tony and Ziva, it almost happened a couple of times, and the last show proved there was a definite attraction….If they leave things the way they are, as good looking as Mark Harmon is and as much sex appeal as he and Tony have, this is going to be the beginning of the end…… Bring Ziva home !!!!

          • John 1138 says:

As written the character Ziva appeared tired of all her killing so she was written as dropping from that former life and moving on.

Whether they’ll ever write that character coming back into Tony’s life I couldn’t speculate. In part that will probably depend on where the show takes that character and in part where the actress who played Ziva is in her thoughts about a revisit.

          • P. Davidson says:

Ziva was amazing on NCIS!! Really miss her and the new blond just doesn’t fit in with what the show has been about.

          • nan says:

          • xani says:

This would be a great new take on an “old favorite” show. Bringing new life to both shows while an interesting almost reborn season to tired story lines that are looping though both NCIS shows.

        • Rick Fisher says:

I think the producers of ncis should do everything they can do to keep Cote DePablo on the show. By far the most exciting episodes are about Ziva in some way or another. I am quite sure the show will not carry as many viewers without Cote involved in some way. The whole Tony and Ziva thing is another angle that constantly keeps viewers always back in front of ours tv sets every Tuesday at 8 pm. Please keep your viewership happy and resign Cote for at least another year or two. Thank you….A long time viewer….Rick F.

          • Lovell says:

I so agree with you. I have watched the show from the beginning but if they get rid of Ziva, I don’t think I can watch it anymore.

          • elizabeth cline says:

Ziva is one of the reasons i watch the show. I keep hoping her and tony connect. I hope the directors do not kill her off or make her out to be a traitor. I like the character they have cast her in.

          • Carolyn & Wayne Guest says:

We are totally disappointed that Cote de Pablo is not continuing with NCIS. Luv her character. Luv the Israel connection. Luv the Tony/Ziva story as well. So Sad!

          • Debbie says:

          • Jaimo says:

I couldn’t agree more. I like the Israel connection with Ziva, and haven’t really been happy with the past couple of seasons with Gibbs and the old Activia chick. Gibbs is a loner, not a playboy, so that hookup didn’t work for me. I probably won’t make a huge effort to see NCIS after Ziva leaves. If it’s about money, CBS should be ashamed of itself and give her what she wants. She and Tony are the show.

          • candid says:

I won’t be watching this season without Ziva. It is now being reported that Cote asked for the same amount of money per episode that CBS is paying Michael, the actor who plays Tony. CBS released her rather than pay her on the same level. I don’t think it is the amount of money that she objects to but the fact that the men are making more than her. I have to agree with her stance. She made this show better. Period. She should be rewarded for that and shame on Mark Harmon for pushing for her to “accept the offer”.

          • Raoul Duke says:

It just won’t be the same. They need to just pay her the $. She is more than worth it. Recast? You must be kidding. Not possible. I don’t thnk the character is really replaceable either. This is jumping the shark.

          • John says:

Hope they simply tell a story of her transfer somewhere else and drop it.

The actress decided she wanted something else and I’ll reflect that.

          • John says:

            Auto type, sigh.

          • Razz says:

Get TiVA together and keep Cote as guest I like her heading up a team in another agency, Gibbs gets together with Kate’s psychologist sister and tighten up Anneyand McGee to the point where they have to hide their telationship.Ducky becomes more of an agent oh for heavens sake just show him and Palmer more lots more. Bring in Anna Torv from Fringe as the new agent and Mark Valley as well. Talk about vhemistry

          • Mary says:

I am devastated Ziva is leaving.

          • ann says:

Ziva is so important to the show. CBS should do everything they can to keep her. Twitter has been nothing but TIVA all summer. All the excitement leaves when Ziva leaves.

          • Alisa Neely says:

tptb OFFERED her a CRAP LOAD of $$$$, and yet SHE DECIDED SHE WANTS TO LEAVE….now, either they wouldn’t MEET her DEMANDS or whatever….she is GONE….and imo, she should have LEFT LONG AGO…..the became the ZIVA show….and the others, too a backseat to her and that was just WRONG.

          • ann says:

I think Cote de Pablo is a fantastic actress that has made Ziva seem real to millions. The producers/writers should have moved forward with the character and let TIVA happen years ago. No relationship lasts for EIGHT years without SOMETHING happening. I have really lost interest in NCIS without Ziva, since she brought the action, beauty and excitement to the show. Tuesday night was my never miss night, now I find something else to watch, then turn to NCISLA, if I haven’t started watching a movie. Cote wanted to be paid as much as Tony, who can blame her?
Read Latino magazine article (and watch Rachel Ray show) written a couple of months before the contract fell through. Cote didn’t want to leave. CBS never wants to have equal pay for equal work. Just look at a the female stars that have left CBS series over salary disputes and are pushed out.
Cote can NEVER be replaced, either as a actress or the character she made her own.
By the way, I think Steve B had a good comment. The DeNozzos’ is a good idea!

        • Phillip Walston says:

I wish that you keep ziva I think it will hurt the rating on ncis you have a super cast on the show

          • john downing says:

It used to be gibbs ncis show the best on tv. but without Ziva I shant be to concerned about missing episodes, In the past I have not missed a program, The other turn off is that they are bringing in more and more young women who have too much to say for thereselves and tend to takeover the lead roles. Each one is a super woman and it appears that the writers are keen to take what was the best series on tv. down this road. I suppose I will have to get used to finding alternative TV to watch. I thnk perhaps five O and or ncis los angeles will have to take its place, shame because Harmon is a good actor, but perhaps he is getting tired of the same role and intends to leave as well.
            j. d. (UK viewer)

      • cindy says:

I have been watching NCIS for many years Cote (Ziva) will be missed she and Michael Weatherly are so good together! I hope that they get someone that Tony will finally settle down! Also they should bring Jamie Lee Curtis back because she and Gibbs are good together!

        • Oh I couldnt stand the Jamie Lee Curtis character! I thought she and Gibbs were awful! Made me cringe! lol

          • Elyse says:

Sherry I thought I was the only one! She made me cringe too!!! I couldn’t stand her. It was painful for me to watch!

          • Sara says:

Agreed. I didn’t trust her one bit. I actually like the other therapist…..Kate’s sister.

          • Huskygrl says:

Agreed, now THAT. Is the lady for Gibbs, maybe just let Tony be alone and grow up this year and focus on Gibbs and McGee this year?

          • Kate says:

i used to shudder every time she looked at him…it was vile…surely they could find someone nice and down to earth that Gibbs could fall in love with…

          • DL says:

I didn’t mind JLC, but my favorite Gibbs pairing by far was with Susanna Thompson as Lt. Col. Hollis Mann. They had such amazing chemistry. She’s on Arrow now so I don’t anticipate a comeback, but I can always hope.

          • kim says:

I love Jamie Lee Curtis but I stopped watching my beloved NCIS when she came on. The story line was weak and boring. I picked it back up when she left the show. It’s still good but they need new writers. Now with Ziva leaving, who knows where the show will go. I agree, there needs to be another female character who has great chemistry with Tony or the show will fail. Mark Harmon can only do some much and I’m expecting him to leave any time now.

          • Linda R says:

I also agree, please don’t bring Jamie Lee Curtis back. She is horrible. I expect her to start jamming yogurt down our throats any minute!

          • Shelby says:

“surely they could find someone nice and down to earth that Gibbs could fall in love with…”

ME! Me! Me! Pick me! PICK ME!!!

          • CatLady54 says:

I would love to see Mark Harmon’s real wife, Pam Dawber, play his love interest, even if only for a few episodes. I didn’t like Gibbs with Jamie or the one before – Hollis Mann. I did like his chemistry with Lauren Holly, who they unfortunately killed off.

          • Lilly says:

I’m hoping, too, DL, that they bring back Susanna Thompson. The fact that she is on Arrow doesn’t necessarily have to be a barrier. There are quite a few actors who are pulling double duty.

          • shanan says:

I agree! I didn’t like those 2 together! I liked the gal that was in the service ready to retire!

          • Linda says:

Can’t stand Jamie lee Curtis hated her with Gibbs. Bring back Rena Soffer (M.Allison Hart)

          • Charlie says:

Sherry-I agree with you. JLC is not Gibb’s type. I think she should stick to peddling yogurt.

          • SjT says:

agreed- bring nack Hollis Mann. She was the best with Gibbs.

          • Alisa Neely says:

please for the LOVE OF GOD, DON’T bring hollis back…..is could NOT stand her either….she didn’t RESPECT jethro’s PRIVACY…..she went BEHIND his back, and went to his friends, to get information…..they wanted 2 different things…….i DON’T want her back.

          • Olivia Bergan says:

I agree totally, and I will miss Ziva very much

          • John Kovacs says:

I agree. Jamie and Gibbs are a No! No! A better match was the Col. that retired.

          • Me either! I can’t stand her in any role even her Activia commercials!

          • Cathi says:

I could not agree more! i didn’t like the way the charachter was written, and as a potential love interest for Gibbs? No way! Not his style!

          • JoyAnne says:

I’ll 2nd that. Couldn’t stand her with Gibbs.

          • Debbie says:

DB I couldn’t agree with you more. With Jamie Lee Curtis, and Gibbs, it is like looking at Gibbs twice. Or Gibbs in drag. Jamie needs to NOT to come back to NCIS. She is UGLY!!! She looks like a man, and there is nothing pretty about her at all.
As for Ziva- Cote Depablo, I too will miss her, and her character, she does an extremely well, of the connection of Isreal, and to the Massad.I will truly miss her.

          • Jill says:

Can’t stand Jamie Lee Curtis! She sucks and is so full of herself! I don’t even like watching when she is on and I try to never miss an episode. LOVE Ziva and Abby.

          • stressline2013 says:

Now that we’ve expanded this thread beyond Ziva I might as well weigh in on Jamie Leigh Curtis. First, despite her parental lineage she never really became an A list actress. I mean, you don’t see Meryl or Angelina hawking yogurt. Although she’s had a long, active career the only things she’s know for is the successful, critically acclaimed “A Fish Called Wanda”.

I wouldn’t say she’s not a good actress. She just made poor choices in roles after Wanda.

I agree with those who don’t think she’d be a good fit with Gibbs.

        • Susan says:

Are you kidding… Jamie Lee Curtis? It was all I could do to watch those episodes. In my opinion, she’s not only a poor actress and had no chemistry with ANY of the cast, she appeared awkward on camera even down to the way she walked and talked. PLS DO NOT BRING UNEMOTIONAL AND UNTALENTED JLC.

          • Roni says:

Jamie Lee Curtis is a talented actress…but she is NOT a good fit on NCIS. I can’t stand the character she portrays. I go agree with you about having NO chemistry with the cast and the show. I absolutely love Cote de Pablo aka Ziva David. I respect her decision but also I am so bummed about leaving the show and will greatly miss her. I love everything about her and her character in the show.

          • suzi says:

I must be the only person who liked JLC on NCIS. I thought she and Harmon had great chemistry, when the character wasn’t being so mysterious. If she’d been on longer I think her awful past with her ex would have been explained and the character would have softened…not meant to be, it seems.
I will miss Ziva and de Pablo very much, and I wish her well in whatever she does next.

          • Jack Brown says:

They tried (and FAILED) to make a female Gibbs with JLC

          • Jan says:

I didn’t like Jamie Lee Curtis in her role, either. No chemistry between her and Gibbs. I liked the Coast Guard Investigator played by Diane Neal with Gibbs and wish they would have developed that role.

          • Rick says:

I hope they bring Diane Neal back.

        • Kim R says:

I am so disappointed. :( I liked Kate but Kate and Tony did not have “that kind” of chemistry. It was brother and sister and nothing else. Ziva and Tony had something else from day one and I, for one, loved her character. NCIS is the number one show in this household and I can’t imagine how they are going to handle this. So disappointed. Literally. I feel like a friend is moving away. :(

          • Laura says:

Same here after watching NCIS for 11 years feels like you know the characters like they’re from your own family and when one of the walks away is just VERY sad and disappointing… =( She Will Be Missed

          • Ronald J. Burbank says:

I totally agree. NCIS is our main show. I enjoy it so much I watch the marathon reruns on USA. I will miss the beautiful Ziva.

          • Marie Walters Gill says:

I agree with eveyone’s comment, but with Ms dePablo’s exit I will discontinue watching NCIS? I stumbled across NCIS several years ago when Kate was in the episodes and I didn’t particularly care for the character. In Rizzoli and Isles, she’s fantastic. Cote de Pablo is Ziva David, she made you believe the character. Her chemistry with Tony is “off the chain”. Pay her. Persuade her, but PLEASE don’t let her leave the series and for God’s sake don’t kill her character off. Leave the door open just in case she changes her mind. We women do that you know. Cote leaving the series is more than I can take. I looked forward to Tuesday 8pm to see Ziva and Tony. I wouldn’t even takes classes on Tuesday nights just so I could watch NCIS. Oh well, I guess I will have to settle for Netflix reruns……Tuesday night classes, here I come.

          • Marissa says:

Chemistry is in the eye of the beholder. The Tiva see it, the antis don’t, and the rest of us have no opinion, we just want the crimes and characters take center stage again,

          • diane says:

I am really really upset Ziva is leaving the show! She worked so well with every member there and it was fun seeing the “personal” relationship with Tony. Any chance she will change her mind? Show won’t be the same without her!!!!

          • Abbie says:

I completely agree we were all so upset

          • deanna demassa says:

I agree whole heartly. Don’t let Ziva go. She has such good facial expression and dry wit. I feel that what might have sent them on the wrong path was to much of their family’s being brought. in to the show. Such as Tims sister.

          • Lee says:

I know the feeling. I thought I was the only one who seemed to feel as if I actually “knew” these characters that the Actors/Actresses were playing. It just shows good writers when folks get so involved in the characters on the show. I too am very sad to see Ziva go. I just hope they don’t make her out to be a traitor. That would just really be a low blow. She’s proved herself time and again as being loyal to the team and caring about all of them.

          • Sara Rubin says:

don’t take Ziva off ncis, she is a good actress and so beautiful, and not the typical blonde blue-eyed type. Ziva and Tony make the show!

          • Abby says:

i know what you mean! NCIS is the number 1 show that we watch at/in my house and we love every minute of it. I don’t want Ziva to go and agree with you that Tony and Ziva have had something since day one.. i’ve always sort of dreamed about them two getting together because they are both looking for that special someone and they have been there for each other but also because they are perfect for each other!

        • johnny says:

ziva leaving will probably end the show. ratings will go down hill. it went down when they killed ginny off. now ziva. bring jamie lee curtus back, it will help.

          • Jeff says:

No way. Jamie Lee Curtis sucked in that role. She doesn’t belong to NCIS

          • papnana says:

I agree with you, I will miss Ziva, BUT please, please DO NOT bring back Jamie Lee Curtis!! I also agree with the other posts that there was no chemistry between JLC & the rest of the cast. After saying all that, there has to be another actress that can “jel” with Mark Harmon. but whatever you do, please don’t make it Rene Sofer, they don’t have chemistry let alone work well with each other, I just don’t like her with the rest of the cast–I think they all clash with her. That thought came into my head when Gibbs “almost” kissed her in the one episode. Please DON’T bring her back. Just my opinion, hopefully someone else will feel the same way.

          • Mary Ann says:

Sorry to say I never was a believer that one person held a show together, but in this case I’m afraid that NCIS is really going to have problems when they lose Ziva. Even I will not be looking
forward to Tuesday nights like I use to. It is sad to see her go I have already lost interest in the show things will not be the same and after 11 years I think we will see the numbers drop as soon as she leaves. I just hope it is not a violent death like Shepards was. Sorry folks but I am so bummed and I never get this way but I love this show and this change is so big it will differently hurt this show. I see no fix for this I see this as the last season. It’s the last time I get so hooked on a TV show.

          • Please NOT Jamie Lee Curtis. No No No!! She doesn’t fit,– she’s cold and has no personality and I can’t see how she works with ANY of the NCIS characters. I agree with someone else
            she should keep selling yogurt.

        • Jeff says:

No way…I didn’t care for her. I like Jamie Lee Curtis but didn’t like her role in the show at all. They should bring back the one he had a relationship with in season 4. I liked her and thought they were good together. My opinion.

        • PJ says:

If they bring Jamie Lee back, I will quit watching. She and Gibbs were the most mismatched, nauseating pairing I’ve ever seen.

        • Mary says:

I love Jamie Lee Curtis, BUT NOT FOR GIBBS OR FOR THIS SHOW!!!

          • Toni says:

I also agree totally, Jamie Lee is a good actress, especially for yogurt, but not for Gibbs. I have this wild idea about bringing Mark Harmon’s wife, Pam Darber, to the show as his love interest. I don’t know if she is still acting but I’ll bet the chemistry would be great. I’m sure a good story line could be written and he could make it last with #5. I like the idea of him taking over the Head of NCIS position. Just please, please don’t end the show, what will I do on Tuesday at 8:00pm.

        • Theresa says:

Jamie Lee Curtis’ character lied to Gibbs. It would never work. They ought to recruit Allison Janney from The West Wing. She and Mark Harmon had good chemistry when he played the Secret Service agent protecting her after she got death threats.

        • JC says:

Actually, I vote they bring Alex Kingston’s character back for Gibbs. Loved her episode.

        • com2meTZ says:

I have watched NCIS since the first show, and I never saw Sasha and Michael as lovers, but friends like brothers and sisters. I really tried to give all the woman that was paraded on the show over the years as love interest for Tony a fair chance (Jeanne, Wendy, EJ) police women, CIA agents, Victims that needed his support but they all fell flat there was nothing there. So bringing another woman on and hoping something will work after 8 years of holding Ziva up to us like a carrot, and hope we will just fall in line

        • judy p says:

Please DON’T bring Jamie Lee Curtis back. I didn’t like her attitude on NCIS…

        • z has to go. says:

Please don’t let them bring back the Dr Ryan character, she was awful. I say if they want to bring someone back for Gibbs, let it be Lite Colonel Mann.

          • He could even meet someone new. I’d rather see any character they put in a romantic relationship with someone outside the job and then keep it off screen.

          • Alisa Neely says:

please, NOT Col. Mann …..i couldn’t stand her either…..she didn’t know HOW to RESPECT jethro’s privacy….she went behind his back to learn things, he did NOT want to talk about…..she was too pushy.

          • MichaelTX says:

I’ve wanted them to bring back Col Hollis Mann since she left. I thought she was a great match with Gibbs. If not her, then Rena Sofer as M Allison Hart, the lady lawyer who was constantly butting heads with Gibbs. There were a couple of times there where they hinted that something might be going on between them. I thought they made a great couple.

        • I can’t stand the “old activia” character, Jamie Lee Curtis. Pleeze! She doesn’t add a thing to the
show! She has no warmth or personality! She’s a cold character and very presumtuous how she insinuates herself trying to be “romantic” with Gibbs. I LOVE Ziva and am also extremely
disappointed that she is leaving the show.

      • Brenda stembridge says:

Don’t bring back Jamie Lee Curtis, she is a bummer. Everyone knows she likes to boss whatever show she is own and that won’t work on N CIS. Get Gibbs a red head! But leave her somewhere else!

        • Nae says:

Sasha Alexander aka Kate left the show to have babies. Now that she has started her family, she is back on TV. She chose to leave, just like Cote
They should bring the red-headed Abby from the Coast Guard to be with Gibbs, defintely NOT Jamie Lee Curtis. Lol. They looked like twins :-/ I love the show, bummed Ziva is leaving but maybe they will get someone in for Tony. And I agree with the Abby/Tim deal, come on already!!!!

          • Esaul says:

Sasha also didn’t believe the show would be successful.

          • Bella says:

Sasha Alexander stated she left the show because of the insane hours, as they were constantly tweaking the scripts. After that, Mark Harmon put his foot down and the show runner was replaced. I loved Ziva, so am very disappointed she’s going to be gone. I still love the show and will still be watching. I have confidence they will get someone great to replace her. I couldn’t stand Jamie Lee Curtis’ character on this show, either, so was glad when she left. My favorite with Gibbs was Colonel Mann, who unfortunately retired and moved to Hawaii. I’d love it if they could bring her back often enough to establish them in a committed relationship, but it doesn’t need to take over the show. They did a good job keeping things between Tony and Ziva subtle on the slow burn.

          • Mary says:

I wish Tony would be able to get back with (can’t think of her name) his true love.

          • Mike J says:

I agree that the coast guard lady would be a good match for Gibbs doing to-to conversations. I also thought the retiring army commander was his soul mate.

          • knmd says:

Actually, if Cote was going to “choose” to leave, I suspect she would have done so months ago. It would have been *announced* months ago. Something in those contract negotiations went pear shaped, be it the rumor result of pay disparity or otherwise. No matter what the issue, you’d think they’d work a bit harder to keep her on the show. Look at the Ziva-centric episodes this past season – they were the some of the highest rated in the show’s history!! Major fail on the part of the powers that be in NCIS.

        • SL says:

Agreed give Gibbs a redhead at it has been stated for seasons he likes red heads especially his 1st wife. I thought the Jaime Lee Curtis arc was dull and the character would have done better with someone else.

        • Chloe says:

Agreed. I used to like Jamie Lee but those annoying yogurt ads turned me off her.

        • Speaky says:

yeh, Jamie Lee Curtis could be Ziva’s grandma, can’t be the lead role of the show, why even compare two of them !

        • dakine says:

..diva….wtfo….like jlc but not here, not ever,,,,please,,,,,i do like sarah j morris…she was ncis agent…that arc actually worked….sort of doubt that happens….nevertheless…was good chemistry, which is why we watch this great show….tues and reruns on usa which I have become a dedicated viewer…oh my, yes…

      • ElDujo says:

Awesome! I agree with u 100%. It gets old…after a point. But I look forward to Cotes future. A bright, bright avatar!

        • tvfan says:

I love her, but I doubt that she will have a big career. I hope she surprises me and ends up like George Clooney.

      • lula says:

I’m out of breath just reading your post. Periods, exclamation points, question marks – all good ways to end a sentence.
Besides that – you watch shows you dislike simply because you have DVR space? Get a life!

      • Right on. I will watch NCIS, but for how long will depend on the replacement for Ziva. I really do hope she left on her own accord and not pushed out for some unknown reason. She should get another show soon. Look at how well Covert Affairs, Scandal and Nashville are doing. All with strong female leads. Good luck Cote.

      • Just watch. . .NCIS will not come back as it did when they killed off Kate. It was a real favorite until this last season. It seemed to me that the writing had gone stale. I am not a fan of the NCIS LA show as it has always seemed a poor cousin to NCIS and a bit contrived. I hope that Cote de Pablo will find other good work to do as she is a very good actress. I will hang in there for next season, but…………………………the writers had better get their heads on straight or the show is doomed. Good Luck, Cote.

        • znachki says:

A change in characters is a great opportunity to “freshen up” a show. Here’s hoping it works. I’d love it if the new agent that came in was a happily married middle-aged woman. One who just lets all of Gibbs stuff roll off her back.

That or have Abigal Boren from CGIS join the team – even though it would be a step down I suppose, since she leads her own team. Maybe the sequester cuts the CG budget and they get outourced to NCIS. Gibbs respects her and she gives as good as she gets.

          • Elle says:

I like Agent Borin too, but not as a love interest for Gibbs. She is half his age (her character) – yuck! Sometimes Gibbs comes off creepy like with Rena Sofer’s character. I like super Gibbs, not creepy Gibbs. I just don’t want them to ruin Ziva’s character. Writers, please come up with a satisfying sendoff. Let’s not kill another female agent.

          • Ann Mc Closkey says:

We would be very. Disappointed if Ziva in not on . Get ride of Vance he is boring.

        • Lee says:

Hey everyone. Many of us thot’ the show would go under when Kate was killed off. We were all so stunned. But come one, Mark Harmon isn’t dumb. I can’t see him allowing the writers/directors bringing someone onto the show who has no chemistry at all with any of the characters. Remember, many folks didn’t like Ziva when she first came on. Let’s try to be positive and just wait and see. Hopefully, we may be all surprised. Let’s at least give it a try.

        • June Woods says:

I don’t see NCIS lasting too long after Zeva leaves. Give her what she wants or that wonderful woman KARMA will come and bite you in the butt.

      • S says:

Yes, like Nicole “Snooki” Polizzi, being Chilean-American makes her unique “not just another Caucasian actress, shes a great ethnicity to play a ton of awesome empowered badass roles.”
Caucasian is a race, not an ethnicity. Hispanic and Latino are ethnic groups not races.
In 2010 Chile 52.7% were of European descent, while mestizos were estimated at 44%, and according to the CIA world factbook combines that tally of Chile’s population and says it is white and white-Amerindian at 95.4%
My point is, how about as Americans we all stop pigeon holing people into (or out of) specific imagined roles because of their skin hair and eye color. Giselle Bundchen doesn’t look like the typical Latina yet being from Brazil she is from Latin America and is a Latina.

        • M3rc Nate says:

What i meant if you pull your head out of your a** is there are a LOT of Caucasian actresses and most roles are for Caucasian characters. So have a actress like Cote who is an fantastic actress and with her ethnicity/look can bring a different flavor to certain roles. Lol and who in the world brought up Snooki? Im very happy when roles arent “pigeon holing”, such as “Kensi” which was supposed to be an Asian woman, but Ruah blew the audition away so they choose her.

          • Lee says:

Hey Nate! Thanks for that bit of info about “Kensi’s” roll having been tagged as “Asian”. Why can’t writers just have a “character with a certain personality” and then audition for the part. If the actress blows them away with her audition, and she happens to have an accent or something, then let that be part of her character. I don’t like how too many Actors/Actresses are being forced to not use their accents due to the role they are playing. I would think it would add to the shows, a flavor, a variety. Then they could make up whatever background they wanted as to how this person ended up in the USA and in the “job” they were in? NCIS Agent, aLawyer, Detective, Doctor, etc etc…nothing sexier than a man or woman with an accent ….

          • S says:

An ethnicity is based on common national or social group traits; race on the other hand (which you are referring to with “look” and “Caucasian”) is based on common physical attributes.
Cote is Chilean-American, Snookie is also Chilean-American (by birth)…that is why Snookie was brought up. It was to provide a comparison.
The actor who portrays Kensi is Portuguese. Born in the U.S. to Portuguese parents and raised in Portugal. Her ethnicity is Jewish and Portuguese, which is different from her race.
My whole point is that Cote has a unique look that would allow her to play many parts, yes this is true, but her ETHNICITY has nothing to do with it.

          • What a shame her talent isn’t sufficient to play much of anything very well. Face it, she’s a two-bit actress with delusions of stardom. Bet she fades into relative obscurity, if not complete obscurity. I wish her the best, I just don’t see it happening.

          • Alisa Neely says:

i agree…..i’d NEVER heard of cote, before she showed up on the show….she isn’t WORTH the money she might been asking for…..she’s in the same league as mark, michael and david…..ALL WELL KNOWN……she thinks very highly of herself……and imo, she and michael DON’T have chemistry.

          • No, they don’t, and that takes some doing since as he pretty much has chemistry with dirt. In interviews he always looks like he’s doing anything to get away from her or has created a character of his own just to be able to interact with her without cringing.

          • Marissa says:

So you’d take a nordic blonde being sold as the child of two Israelis? Of course ethnicity plays into physical appearance and thus, marketability as a character. A blonde haired, blue eyed person can’t pass for the genetically created daughter of two olive complected, dark haired and eyed people, in general terms, though recessive genes sometimes make themselves known.

          • Amber says:

When they casted for Ziva Cote has said she was originally told she was going to be European and then after she got the roll they came back and said oh by the way she is Israeli and you need to learn this dialogue in Hebrew by the time we shoot next week. This is a good example of how it starts off as one thing then gets narrowed down and changed real quick.

          • S says:

@Marissa Yes, I take a Nordic blonde being sold as the child of two Israelis. Why? Bar Refaeli
the Israeli famous model would be the prime example of why. She is blonde and blue eyed, her grandparents emigrated to Israel and have ties to Italy, Poland and Lithuania.
Keep in mind that Israel was only established in 1948. It was populated by families from all over Europe, including traditionally “Nordic” countries.
Saying someone from Israel only has dark hair and eyes, is like saying people in Spain only have dark hair and eyes (I have a family friend who is Spanish who is Blonde with Blue eyes)
or that people in the Afghanistan all have dark hair and eyes. That last one is not true because the most recognizable National Geographic photograph in the world is titled “Afghan Girl” and features a girl with sea green eyes.
Someone below points out that the role was to be European and then became Israel. Cote has a look that could be from many areas.
Heck, Catherine Zeta-Jones looks Spanish and she played her part so well in the mask of Zorro that people often spoke Spanish to her, but she is Welsh and her parents are also from Wales.

          • Marissa says:

Whilst I’m not disagreeing with you in principle and in real life, the character being Mossad, the expectation is someone who is darker complected than Nordic. Cote does have a look that could translate to various types of characters. I hope her next role is a very different one and we can see her acting in a different sort of role.

        • Lee says:

Thank you for your statements about “pigeon holing” people. One thing I do have a problem with, why all these questions on forms about “race” or whatever it says??

I thought we were all Americans? Now my background, when you start digging is Scotland, Ireland, England, Cherokee, a bit of French and German. HOWEVER……….
I’ve never been to any of those countries. My ancestors were. I was born here in the United States of America and I am extremely Proud to say I AM AN AMERICAN …..regardless of where my ancestors came from. It’s all been watered down throughout the years anyway.

          • S says:

Thanks Lee. I agree with you. My ethnicity is 100% American. I like you have a mix of heritages, but I identify American. With Americans race is even a little wonky…I can’t say I am all one thing or the other, because I know that I am not. I know what others think I am, but whatever.
Heck, I have an uncle who is often talked to in Spanish because it is assumed due to his dark features he is from a Latin or Hispanic country and while in Spain my mother received the same treatment because my family friends (all Spanish) were blonde and blue eyed.
But, the U.S. is one of the few places I have been where just because you are from another country you are a different “race” we get so hung up on it. Heck the E.U. doesn’t even recognize that there are “races” other than the human one.
Anyway Cote will be missed. I enjoyed the storyline and it was interesting to watch her play Ziva.

      • Lee says:

Like your ideas. They really do need to let the characters evolve as all individuals do as we age and go thru the many life experiences and changes. I did like Gibbs with Lauren Holly. I didn’t like how they ended her character tho’. Yes I liked that Mike was there but you know, they didn’t show us Gibbs being able to look at her and show any feeling that a woman he was once romantically involved with and still obviously had feelings for, had went out on her own terms. Protecting Gibbs with her death.
Sorry, with my work schedule I can’t always keep up with my shows. What happened between Gibbs and Rena Soffer?
I still miss Kate! Geez that episode actually had me bawling like a newborn baby.
I will really be ticked off if they make it appear as if Ziva is a traitor. Hope the writers don’t even try to go there. Geez-she killed her own Brother for Gibbs. It is also so very obvious that they respect each other and care for each other as true Friends – nothing sexual – the kind of friend that you know has your back no matter what. Please don’t try to “replace” Ziva with a different actress playing her. that just won’t work.
Didn’t Vance’s wife get killed? Sorry for questions but as I said – with my work schedule I wasn’t able to keep up even with the dvr. Thank you to anyone who will answer my questions.

Oh – reading other commnets – I loved The Closer with Kyra Sedgewick. But I never got to see how the show ended…. I was so mad. Someone was supposed to dvr it for me but didn’t. Can someone plz tell me what happened to “Brenda Lee” and her husband, Mr FBI himself. Yes I see he is on another show. But what happened to him on “the Closer”

Thanks folks. Appreciate any answers to my many questions.

      • Gail says:

you are an ass and the show will not be the same without Ziva. They could have written her and Tony as having a relationship or anything. But they didn’t have to write her out. Why, oh why, is she leaving. Boo hoo.

        • The show will be much better without her. And they aren’t “writing her out”, she turned down the raise they offered her and quit. She apparently has other plans for her career and the show will be the better for it, especially without the idiotic pseudo-romance crap.

        • Marissa says:

She clearly left because she wanted to, whatever her reasons were (salary, private time, personal life changes, whatever). They are not writing her out. She chose to leave,

        • cernicalo says:

As already stated multiple times — BECAUSE SHE CHOSE TO! Come on people, respect her decision and let it go.

      • Rita Tipton says:

Cote is such a vital part of NCIS that I cannot imagine her not being in it. I have never seen a show that has characters so well matched in my life. Please have her as a guest in future shows. I will always be a big fan of NCIS and will always watch the series but she will always be missed. Replacing her will sure be a task and I am not sure you will find someone that can fill that void.

        • Miriam Perez says:

Ditto, Rita. I love NCIS, have watched all episodes multiple times, and can’t imagine the show without Ziva. There will definitely be a “Cote-shaped hole” in the series…

      • NAB says:

I think that they should write Ziva out this way: Since Ziva & Tony had quit NCIS, they could now date, things progress and they get married. Ziva does not come back to work (maybe she has a bun in the oven), Tony can finally mature and Tim now becomes the heart throb of the team (which will make Abby jealous). This way Ziva could come back for visits once in a while, Tony will have to grow up and they can have storylines with him adjusting to married life, McGee can finally have some new story lines (and Abby) and they don;t have to kill off a beloved, female character. I will feel very cheated if we don;t see Tiva have a happy ending – I still am mad at the Wonder Years for not having Winnie & Kevin end up together.

      • Mary Maday says:

NCIS should have done everything possible to keep Ziva — or at least marry her off to Tony. These shows always end badly. I have not seen a good ending to any tv series – except Magnum P.I. — the rest have lousy endings — and lousy endings when their greatest stars leave, like Director Lauren, Kate, and especially the one I loved most — Good old Mike.

        • stressline2013 says:

You’ve come up with a workable idea especially if Cote goes into films and doesn’t get in a new TV series. As long as she isn’t on a series she could actually appear as Tony’s wife from time to time. If, in real life, she got pregnant that could be incorporated into the story and Tony as a father would age to the complexity of his character.

      • Ann Mc Closkey says:

Vance should be removed and Ziva should stay . She is a much better character and brings the women’s attitude to the show I watch it all the time .I would rather watch ncis with her than reality junk they hav put on lately

      • Please check and corrrect your spelling! I can’t make any sense out of many of your sentences!

      • Steve B says:

You and six others feel this way. Don’t watch any more. There is only 11 million each week watching the best show on T V. Now, it will be you and 5 others less.

      • Walt Daniels says:

I am sorry to see Ziva go! If I had my say, I would get rid of that childish Tony!

        • Marissa says:

What a good thing then, that the actor who plays Tony elected to sign his contract and renew, while Ziva had to go because the actress who plays her elected to leave the role.

          • Alisa Neely says:

i totally agree with ya……i’m THRILLED that MW decided to stay and COTE left……now, if they’d STOP having tony mourn her…..i’d be even happier…..it’s time for him to MOVE ON to BETTER things.

        show. Robert Veselka Portland, Texas

    • susan freire says:

This is the reason I stopped watching Law And Order…when they took Stapler off the show, it ruined the whole program. The same goes for Ziva..All this time you guys have been telling us how the show was going to be even better with Tony and Ziva, and now I see all that was just a lie to get us to watch..i didn’t care much for the program when Kate was on it, she was too high classed, thought she was too good to work at NCIS, but Ziba fit in with no problem…She took to the job with self confidence and all the right looks to make you wonder if she is the right one for Tony…I know my words don’t carry much weight, but I do feel that if you don’t write her in this seasons script, it will be a HUGE mistake…It will ruin the show, for me and millions of other viewers…..The characters are the ones who make the show,,,Let her finish what she started, but never leave NCIS..pLEASE THINK LONG AND HARD ABOUT THIS, IT COULD MEAN THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN THIS SHOW STAYING ON TOP OR FALLING TO THE WAST BASKET… Who would be next???? Abby, just think about this..this is my favorite show and I really hate to to see you guys screw it up……thanks for letting me vent….

      • susan freire says:

No one can replace Ziba….No other character you put in there will ever have the chemistry she has, the kick-ass ability she has, and the love for Tony that she has…Please,…..don’t write her off the show..It will be the last time I watch NCIS….so will millions of others….

        • Brenda stembridge says:

          • Sharla Percell says:

Ziva makes the show very interesting. Please stay with the show. NCIS has the perfect cast EVER. NCIS must have a female agent on the show! Ziva has been wonderful to watch and I love the relationship she has with Tony! Please offer Ziva a contract she can not say no to! She is a huge part of NCIS! America needs Ziva!

        • Temperence says:

I never cared for her, so it works well for me. The rest of the cast is great.

          • donna53922@gmail.com says:

Thank you!! I agree totally. I didn’t find her character to be believable. I think taking her out makes me happy too! The show is also in need of a change! After 11 years it is becoming the same thing different day. Something has to change and loosing her won’t really effect the quality of show.

          • mamalyn says:

I liked the old Ziva… the Masaad assassin, barely reined in, still dangerous. This Ziva is now a subservient office decoration for Tony to lech after. Maybe Cote will get a part where she can act again.

          • jdbasset says:

I don’t mind her, but I definitely don’t get why people want her with Tony….he’s sort of a dork and her character is fairly intelligent. I would think she’d (the character) get bored pretty quickly after they finally hooked up. I just don’t think she’s a great actress… just average. Hopefully she’s retiring to focus on family or something because I really don’t see her as a box-office draw. I mean no disrespect by that, it’s just how I see it.

        • I would have to make a big decision. Cote and Pauli are my favorite – just after Stana !!

        • Miriam Perez says:

          Exactly my sentiments!!!!

      • M3rc Nate says:

I wouldnt say they lied considering she is living on her own will, but i would say they have been shady in how all they do is tease, the whole series is multiple teases than they wont actually pull the trigger on out of FEAR of losing fans…and now they have Ziva (Cote) leaving so it will leave a very bad taste in fans mouth’s “Wait…Ziva’s gone? What about Tony and Ziva?…im over this show”.

I didnt like Kate either, but i wouldn’t say high classed, i would say she was a huge prude, and it was ANNOYING as Frack! Not every girl has to be like Katee Sackhoff (dirty sense of humor, not a prude at all) but her mega prude shtick was annoying at best. If i could back then i would have had The Dark Knight Joker *slow clap* GIF to her getting head-shot by the sniper. Its why i like Ziva, shes like Kate Beckett, she isnt overtly sexual, but they will both make little sexual comments where you go ” :O DAMMMMN GIRL!”.

      • Larry McD says:

Do you not get that she quit? Her contract was up and she decided to leave. Short of reinstating slavery, I don’t know what the producers could or should do.

        • Marissa says:

Exactly! I don’t understand the outrage toward the show, seeing it is her decision.

          • While I certainly don’t consider myself “outraged” I think that I can see why people are upset, and to some degree, I am myself. There’s always the possibility that she would have been more willing to stay if there’d been more actual character or relationship development. One comment early on referenced things being stale. Another mentioned that the characters seem frozen. I think that’s actually quite an accurate assessment. I’ve been a fan since day one, and at this point in the series I just wish the characters could actually have some relationships or some growth in other areas. Too many shows are afraid to pull the trigger on a relationship and see where it goes. I was never a huge fan of Tony/Ziva (I still find myself annoyed at Kate being gone, even ten years later), but it’s a pairing I could have tolerated and that they continually built suspense up to and then backed off of. That sort of thing is only realistic to a point. Maybe some of the character stagnation and never getting Ziva and Tony together contributed to her decision to leave. Maybe it didn’t, but if it did, you absolutely can point blame squarely at the people within the show who have chosen that route.

          • Huskygrl says:

Well said! I must agree that the characters have gotten pretty stale, it’s like they were given their original character summary and never allowed to move beyond. In this length of time people change and so should characters. In all these years Gibbs still pines only for lost love and can’t move on, Tony almost grew up but when his relationship with Ms. Benoit blew up he went back to immature, goofball, Ziva always had to be tough and emotionless and Mc Gee always has to be the loser/geek. For the love of Pete PLEASE use this as an opportunity to let the characters grow! That’s why NCIS LA is so much more interesting. Their characters have lives AND personalities and don’t just solve the newest crime. It’s why I watch L.A. Live and leave NCIS for another night each week. If you want to hold on to the cash cow, make sure she’s healthy enough to keep giving milk!

          • tejas says:

Yes, it was. All the begging for her not to go – it’s *done*. She’s *gone*.

          • Pat says:

I agree. It’s her decision and maybe she just wants to move on. I hope she gets to do some singing as she has a beautiful voice. Good luck, Cote!

        • Ralph says:

They could offer her more money!!!! A better contract!. She is the heart of the show, and it will certainly fail if she leaves. Hard to believe that a show that brings in so many advertising dollars can’t find the dollars to up her contract. Bad business! She goes, we’ll stop watching!

          • Marissa says:

And if she was ready to go, money would be no object. Throwing money at something doesn’t always solve a problem.Heart of the show? That would be Mark Harmon.

          • She was hardly the heart of the show. They could have replaced her a dozen times over without negative impact. Mark Harmon, Michael Weatherly, Pauley Perrette and David McCallum – *they* are the heart of the show. NCIS will do just fine without her and has a great opportunity to do much better than with her.

          • as524 says:

The idea that she was ‘the heart of the show’ is laughable at the least. She was ‘the girl’, nothing more. Easily replaceable, although I hope the show doesn’t do that & instead breaks out of the mold it’s been in for too long as they dished up endless amounts of “Days of Our Ziva’.

Beyond that, it’s totally hysterical that the ziva/tiva fans, who for years claimed to be the show’s true fans, are now doing what they insulted others for saying they’d do (leave because they didn’t like ziva/tiva)

          • cernicalo says:

Still laughing — heart of the show? Then the show definitely needed a transplant. At one time Ziva was an interesting character. I enjoyed the light flirting between her and Tony because it portrayed a friendship along with a knowledge that things wouldn’t go beyond that. Then the relationship was written as though the romance was a possibility. Definitely the wrong move although it did make the TIVA lovers swoon. Unfortunately, it was because those viewers tend to forget all of the painful, disrespectful, derogatory comments and actions from Ziva towards Tony throughout the various seasons. Ziva grabs his nuts demanding answers and yet refusing to give her own, alienates Tony by deliberately not inviting him as part of a team dinner. She also fails to act as backup (along with McGee) by turning off the sound when she is supposedly providing backup while he is out getting voice prints, she laughs and makes vicious, disrespectful comments about his capabilities as SFA and Team Lead, she lies about her relationship with Rivkin, betraying not only her relationship with the team but her supposed loyalty to Gibbs, the team and the agency. She sides with the rogue agent she ‘loves’ and again physically assaults a wounded Tony, pointing a loaded gun at him at a moment when I sincerely doubt she was mentally and emotionally competent. And finally, she fails to identify her father thereby initiating a chain of events that resulted in not only his death, but the death of innocent Jackie Vance. Guilty, she goes off on a mission of vengeance, dragging the rest of the team down with her after she murders an innocent man.

Yes, there were many moments of teamwork, friendship and support, but nothing that implies twu wuv. At most, an itch that a couple of rolls in the hay would have assuaged because yes, the two are beautiful people, but certainly not a match made in heaven.

IMO, it was a major mistake to center so many story lines around such a flawed character, sacrificing all of the other characters in the process and making them appear ‘frozen’. Losing her may be the impetus for the writers to finally get back to basics and let the characters do what they do best — namely, solve Navy crimes as a dedicated, highly competent team.

So, no. Just no. If Ziva wasn’t the heart, she was a cancer and I’m glad she’s going.

          • Lee says:

how do u know they didn’t offer her more money? How do you know they didn’t offer her a great contract? The chick was just ready to move on. That’s it. End of story. Sorry folks but the more I read these comments, the more I start laughing. Do you folks get your info from the rag-tag magazines at the check outs or the rag-tag shows about Hollywood Scoop?? Unless you are an agent or part of the team trying to negotiate for a person to stay with a show, then you don’t really know the true facts now do you? Sorry – don’t mean to offend or sound snotty. But come on already. Give the Lady a break. Maybe she wants personal time for herself.

        • Lee says:

Thank you! Someone is finally understanding what I’ve already stated. She wanted to leave the show. The writers and producers didn’t “dump her”. She wants to try her hand at something different. Give it a break already. Yes, I too get really involved with the characters on the select few shows I like (Criminal Minds – look how many characters they’ve gone thru for that one position) – but give the show a break and sit back and watch it with an open mind. Sometimes – if u stop being such a crybaby because you don’t like “change” – you may find that the change ends up doing fairly well.

        • candid says:

Would you consider it your “choice” to leave a job where you are doing the exact same job as your male co-workers but being paid less money? Luckily for her she can afford to take a stand. Most women would not be able to do so and would be forced to continue to work for less wages then their male counterparts.

          • ArcticT says:

They were also on the show more years than her…its called seniority. Pauley Perrette also makes about the same as Michael…so there goes your male theory. Michael also directed episodes which required more work. Mark Harmon is the star (contrary to what some Cote fans think) and an executive producer so he gets paid more. I still doubt money was the issue. After reviewing a few of her interviews last year, she definitely was hinting that she was ready to go and do something different.

          • sickofthehysteria says:

She doesn’t do the same amount of work as the others though….nor has she been on the show as long and she did not come in with the same resume as they did – she got the show as a NOBODY.

& this idea that she can ‘afford to take a stand’ is laughable. The woman got paid a helluva lot of $$ over the years for a not so great job playing ‘the girl’ . She should thank everyone involved for the amount of $$ she was able to earn – not something most women in and out of her field can.

I am highly disappointed that ,”Ziva” is no longer going to be part of the cast. I find it strange that this is the only role that keeps changing. If nothing else, the smart thing would be is to leave the door open for her to come back. As a truly dedicated watcher of NCIS, I’m beginning to wonder if they need to wrap the show up all together!

      • kenb says:

If you read the story, you will see that Cote has quit, it was HER decision, not the network to write off Ziva.

        • Patrick says:

Says the network. Maybe it was “her decision” to leave because she didn’t get enough money (in her opinion). I think this was the opening salvo in a cost cutting strategy.

Of course, Cote is married and may be thinking about kids. That is hard to do when filming a long running show. The long hours make having and caring for kids difficult. She is nearing the end of her prime child bearing years (medically speaking), and may want to enjoy a family now that she has the money to do so.

          • Marissa says:

We can speculate all day. We’re just fans, we’ll never know all the machinations. It could be royalty on th reruns. It could be a percentage of the DVD or merchandising pie, it could be salary. It could be none of the above.

        • Maryann says:

If Cote is leaving because CBS won’t pay her enough, or because they won’t do a story line that Cote wants to see done, I blame CBS, and I will continue to blame them if the show fails after Ziva is written out. On the other hand, if Cote is leaving for purely personal reasons, such as family, or just needing a change after so long, I would certainly wish her well, and continue to check out all her future endeavors.

          • as524 says:

If Cote is leaving because CBS won’t pay what she wants & she is unwilling to meet them in the middle or if she is leaving because they won’t do whatever storyline she thinks she deserves then those are personal reasons as well & it is not the fault of CBS for not caving to her wishes & demands.

If her ego is that over-inflated that she thinks the network has to give her whatever she wants, then Cote, don’t let the door hit you on the way out.

      • carol says:

I agree. To remove Ziva is going to be catastrophic! It’s going to take someone really good to have her skills and chemistry with Tony. Please don’t screw this up! There also should be a great love interest for Gibbs.Someone he respects and can grow close to. Why is it when we get so in to a show and its characters, everything is changed?

        • TJG says:

I really enjoyed the relationship between Gibbs and Lt. Mann. She wasn’t a red head from what I recall, but their chemistry was great. I would love to see them back together. Perhaps it’s time for McGhee or Abby to find some romance.

        • Vicke says:

I agree with you. After they killed off Sasha Alexander’s roll of Kate and replaced her with Cote DePablo, the show really took off. Her character was very interesting. I never bored watching her and Tony tease each other. You watch these shows week after week, love the chemistry of all the characters and then they leave the show, it STINKS! It’s like getting rid of Abby. Just don’t kill off her character. Hopefully, she will return off and on when the team gets into a bind.

      • J Karam says:

I totally agree……Keep Ziva. She by far is better fit than Jamie Lee Curtis and I also agree, the yogurt ads turn me off. Jamie is not a good fit for this show. If it ain’t broke don’t fix it.

      • Lee says:

Folks, I hate to be the one to break it to you, but a lot of these people leave the shows because they want something new in their artistic lives. They start feeling as if they are in a rut and they want to break free of that role, that persona. Character “Stabler” left Law & Order: SVU because HE wanted to.
It isn’t always that the producers or writers have decided to get rid of a particular character. Actually, seldom is that the case.

        • Alisa Neely says:

sorry, while stabler is missed…..i DON’T feel that it has RUINED the show….and i AGREE…..it was the actor’s choice…..just as it was cote’s…..though, it’s possible….that TPTB wouldn’t give into her demands to PAY her as much or MORE then mark, michael, pauley and david…..which imo, she did NOT deserve……however back to SVU: i feel with stabler gone…..it gives olivia a chance to work with another partner….even though, i LIKED stabler and benson together.

    • I’m ROTFLMAO about people freaking out. Not even when AJ Cook AND Kristen Vangness didn’t know if they were renewing their CM contract I was freaking out this much.

      • BTM says:

Thank you. I usually assume that people who get that hyped over TV couples are either the network’s PR flacks, infotainment shills, or teenagers. It’s TV.

        • M3rc Nate says:

I hate that reasoning. “Chill out!! Its just TV! Loser!” “Its just a Movie idiot!” “Jeez its just a video game!” …they are each multi billion dollar industries that we spend hundred of hours of our free time (time which we as humans have a limited amount) on…and yes after multiple years or hundreds of hours or a really deep trilogy of movies, we care, we are passionate, we have strong opinions.

And whats worse, is the wait…because the shows are spread out (a season a year basically) witha week between new episodes (with the summer off and multiple breaks)…it builds anticipation. When you watch a show all at once with say Netflix, what people were SUPER passionate about at the time it aired on TV, typically i have found i am not as strong opinionated on. Because it only took me (for example) 3 days to watch all of Battlestar Galatica, but those who watched it over the course of 5+ years…were PISSED at some of the twists and ending.

I played all three Mass Effect video games (loved them) and HATED the last 15 minutes (aka ending) of the third game. We as a community were loud enough to get a better (by a bit) ending from the team that makes the games….same with the community being loud enough to have the policies changed on the new Xbox One, and loud enough to keep Community on the air, and Fringe, and many other shows, and movies we have wanted to get made that did. Lastly, this is a FORUM for a TV blog…if you expect anything other than the passionate, “loud” TV loving community to be on here, commenting passionately in the COMMENTS section, then your on the wrong site.

And btw, why we are the loudest about couples, is because we as human beings care a lot about coupling. It is how we continue our species, it is something that consumes our lives since we hit puberty. For 99% of humans, our lives revolve around the opposite sex (or same sex if gay)…dating, sex, marriage etc..So the part of the shows that are the most human, the most relate-able, the most interesting, are the couplings. Think about the show Castle, who cares about the crimes? We love the show for its characters, the non-sexual characters are great and we enjoy them, but what we enjoy MOST is the interaction between Castle and Beckett. We enjoy the Game, the Dance, the interpersonal story of the two characters trying to wade the waters of love and sex.

          • Wren says:

The thing about the whole Castle argument that comes to my mind is that Castle is predominantly about and revolving around 2 main characters. Their getting together screws nothing else up. NCIS is an ensemble. Team dynamic is far more important when there are many main characters. I just don’t think these shows lend themselves to being so directly comparable in the shipping department.

          • I care about the crimes. In fact, it’s not that I MIND they’re together, but the show has been so relationship focused, it’s taken away the funny and the crimes. I like the shows without that better. Which is why Criminal Minds is my favorite show. Relationships are very secondary in it!

          • JC says:

NCIS is NOT Castle!! I understand people being upset – I’ve been there (Stargate Atlantis and the Elizabeth Weir fiasco). I can understand people quitting the show – I’ve done that too (when Melina Kanakaredes left CSI:NY). But NCIS is not and never has been a show that revolved around a central couple, such as Castle or Bones or even JAG. I get that the shippers are understandably upset, but the show didn’t revolve around the Tiva pairing and let’s not pretend it did. It was a side story that CBS used for publicity and buzz, and now apparently has decided they can get along without.

        • Marissa says:

Amen! It is disturbing to see people crying that they want to hurt the actors, or themselves over the actress’ choice.

    • debbie love says:

No, I am not bummed. For the sake of NCIS, it will be a change. But from watching Coty over the years, she is way to affectionate towards Mark Harmon, a very married man. If I had been Pam Dawber, I would have had to say something to her. She is a young woman who was trying to get Mark’s attention. I think that she should have backed off years ago. Way to familiar with him publicly. Now that she made her millions, she needs to move on.
I really don’t like that about her.

      • CC says:

Ugh, that’s obnoxious. I have to say I always found her character irritating, and I wanted so much to like her – she’s a badass female and that’s cool, but I didn’t like her obsession with Tony when he was involved with others. It always rubbed me the wrong way – not as UST with chemistry, just possessive and controlling, and over the line. I just couldn’t get into the way she played the character and I really won’t miss her. I think it’s great the show gets the opportunity to bring someone new on board, hopefully another woman and not just Dorneget (though I love him). Too many men already on the show vs. women.

        • kjmorse says:

Never really liked Ziva. Even stopped watching the show for a few seasons when she was first introduced.

Happy they never went the Tony/Ziva angle

          • cherry says:

Will miss ziva, got tired of tiva. McGee does have a girlfriend, said it on the last show. Read that you might see her next season. Hopefully, they take mcgee out from behind the desk and
            give him more to do.

          • Elaine says:

I think Ziva is leaving for Israel to replace her father in the Mossad. I never saw this coming, She should have been one of the last to ever be replaced. I will not watch the show any more. If anyone should have been replaced its that silly Abby. I am just still floored that Ziva will not be back…..an awesome
            sitcom has been destroyed….

        • Jeff says:

Like Tony didn’t act the jealous kind either when Ziva got herself a boyfriend. He acted the same way she did so that is a poor excuse not to like Ziva

      • White collar suits says:

Took a while for coth to become likea meto me. Now I love her. But I do agree with the back of Harmon thoughts.

He is secretly married to me ( wink)

        • Patti says:

My husband and I both enjoyed watching Ziva, what a hoot and so gorgeous, we miss her, but the new actress who has kind of stepped in is believeable and has a few characteristics like Ziva. We would love, love , love to see Ziva return and would welcome her back as soon as possible.Comments by Patti , January 12, 2014

    • ajintexas says:

Oh well, time to make Dornegan (sp?) a full time agent.

    • John Andrew says:

Very disappointed that Ziva is leaving, she is one cute and hot federal agent! Thank god I have the DVD’s to replay. I don’t want to see Ziva and Tony connect. He is such an ass, all he does is push himself into everyone’s business and present himself as “very special”….. I would like to see McGee show him up with some hot IT babe that blows Tony out of the park. McGee needs to step up! As for Gibbs, pleaseeeeeeeeeeeeeeee NO Jamie Lee Curtis! Gibbs can do much better then that. The show is great and much better then NCIS-LA. I hope it stays on the air for a long time. Great cast and good stories they need to find the right red-head for Gibbs, someone that will support him when he takes over as NCIS Director just before the series ends, maybe someone like a Shannon almost…..
As for me, if I were Gibbs I would throw Ziva over my shoulder and head for the beach where Franks had his place. Rebuild a little cabin and die a very, very happy Marine……

    • Char says:

Solution for Tiva fans: Marry Tony and Ziva…have Ziva leave the department because they can no longer work together. They’re together…maybe we see her occasionally but she and Tony are happy “offscreen”

    • Eithne says:

I am so bummed! Seriously, TIVA?!!? Argh!

    • Good luck to Cote, I’d like to see a nice young man come into the team, give Tony a run for his money where the women are concerned … Hardly surprising that all the team are single, if you were doing a stressful dangerous job like that it would be hard to maintain a relationship, but it might be nice to see any of them get married – yes, please can we have a nice wedding to attend! Indeed couldnt Ziva find the love of her life and go and get married and settle down … instead of her getting killed off or something?

      • Maryann says:

Absolutely! I would love to see her find the love of her life, move far away, and be happy. We could even hope to see her show up as a recurring character once or twice a season. I will be far more bummed if they kill her off than if the character is simply written out.

    • Rose says:

Will miss her. She is an awesome cast member. Show won’t be the same without her.

    • Alan says:

If the quality of tv is turning into things like “anger management then I am really disappointed. Charley Sheen is not funny he’s sick. Ziva and Abby are actresses that are true talent and that doesn’t seem to hold people much any more. Ziva and Abby my hubby and I will miss you-no more Charley Sheen tv entertainment for us

    • rose amato says:

with ziva leaving the show, they better get someone twice a good or the show won’t last too much longer. having a kool girl on the show helps them a lot. what will tony do?

      • Tory says:

Really happy she has left! Cote is not as good an actor as the others, made her scenes flat or boring. Hopefully the team will have a chance to be sad before picking a permanent replace, ent. Ziva was a poorly created addition to the show that was ruined by Shane Brennan. Her relationship with Tony would not have succeeded because she lacked respect for him and he would always wonder whether he could totally trust her and not just because of the one night stand with Adam. Please don’t make Tiva a part of her departure.

As for the actress, I’ve read a few things speculating she might be leaving to star in telenovas, which should pay a lot more money than NCIS supposedly. Hailey Murray, SMs sis-in-law,said Cote wanted to have more time for her personal life. Some ppl are speculating that it came down to money. I’ve also heard rumors that Cote was making extra agent demands to re-sign.

I have faith in the show. It’s starring some of the best actors in the TV biz who can really make the ratings soar given a new direction. The last couple seasons have seen a departure from Gunny Gibbs, the Gibbs/DiNozzo interactions that showed how so much can be conveyed with a look or a few words. While the Tiva push resulted in some good ratings, it always was the interaction between Harmon and Weatherly that really made the news and kept so many fans excited. Tiva has been a divisive part of the fandom, keeping some titillated and others frustrated.

      • It won’t be hard to get someone twice as good as CdP. I hope they leave it a three man team, though.

    • Millie says:

You are late.. Read this last nite on internet.

    • Brad says:

I always wanted to be “taken down” by Ziva. She can ‘cuff’ me any day, she will be missed.

On the way she should exit the show and add some drama…For the end of season cliff hanger:

Opening scene, Team is in a darkened building doing their usual room to room for a group for hardened and armed criminals. The team has to split and theres only Tony, Ziva and McGee, Ziva being Ziva goes on alone. It’s dark and hard to see, SUDDENLY gun fire erupts as they close on a large room with multiple entrances. After, minutes of intense gun fire, through the dust and haze, Tony sees a dark silhouette with a gun, he fires the final shot in the fight and we all hear a Plaintive, “Tony!” as the shadowy form falls to the ground.

Tony and McGee rush to the prostrate form, realizing as the light hits her face…we hear Tony emit a strangled, “ZIVA!” and he, loses it. McGee has to take over, calls in “Officer Down”,etc. As Tony fumbles with the gurgling wound in her chest, their eyes lock and her last line is very profound, “I’m glad it was you and not some random criminal, goodbye my love.” END scene on Tony’s face. NOW that would be an ending!

Next show will be the investigation and fallout, Why didn’t they wait for back up?Why wasn’t Ziva wearing her vest, Tony is suspended and we see the start of a downward spiral. A HUGE twist would be as Tony hits bottom and no one seems to be able to get to him, in walks Dr. Jeanne Benoit.

Ok there ya go, Tell me that wouldn’t stir the pot

    • Herman says:

Cote, say it ain’t so . I have been a great fan of NCIS since pilot episode and have enjoyed it even more eaqch and every week. I know that in life, we must grow and go our separte ways and if this is what yoy truly wqnt then I wish you God speed and best of luck with all your future endeavors. Thanks from this old fart :)

    • B says:

      Noooooooooooo! Please stay!

    • christine says:

Look since NCIS characters cannot marry, Ziva professor her love to Tony. They get married and she retires.

    • jane miller says:

i love her.she is better then kath was and she is funny and i like the way she is with all the people.who ever they get to replace her won’t be the same.i hate when the replace people and thats when the show gets cancelled.i wish the show would never changs.but i guess she has her reasos and i wish her good luck

    • langley says:

This is the best show on TV. You are a minority thinking it stinks It has drama, mystery, chemistry, humor, and loyalty. No smut, what a refreshing idea.

    • Tessa says:

I won’t watch after she leaves. The chemistry between Ziva and Tony was one of the things worth watching. I will refuse to watch after her departure.

    • Jack Brown says:

As much as we all like DiNozzo, he has to go and get his own team. Whether that means a recurring role on NCIS or a spinoff with his new team is up to CBS. We all “fall in love” with good characters, but we’ve been through 3 directors, Gibbs’ “retirement”, killing Kate, shipping everyone off and bringing in the “F” team to find the traitor. Bottom line, no one is irreplaceable. Shake it up. Law and Order did it for 20 years and SVU is still doing it. Move on

    • This is a huge mistake for the series. “Ziva” was one of the main reasons I watched after the bombshell that ended Kate’s departure. You’re right, the plot is stale but you could always count on Ziva to spice up the show. Now…..well, I don’t know if there is even a reason to watch. Guess reruns are the best shows for the future.

    • The last season is coming, get ready. They keep killing off the main catalysts for the show.

    • Elaine says:

      I think
Ziva will go back to the Mossad and take over her father’s responsibilities. She will go back to Israel. Regardless of what happens, I am not watching the show anymore. Ziva was one of my favorite characters. If they needed to replace someone it should have been that silly Abby.

    • Elaine says:

I think Ziva will go back to the Mossad and take over her father’s role. She will go back to Israel. Regardless, I will not be watching thr series anymore. If they wanted to write someone off it should have been that silly Abby.

    • maggie says:

Ziva is a main part of the show.Ever one wants Tony and her to get together. That is what is wrong with so many shows they build you up to let you down.WHAT IS WRONG WITH YOU PEOPLE. This will stop me from watching the show and just find some thing to watch on the upper channels. It is hard to find good TV shows to watch seems like every thing is going to reality shows,so why even get use to watching a good show .They have GOOD CHEMISTRY TOGETHER, PLEASE LEAVE IT A LONE.

      • Marissa says:

Not everyone wants those characters together. In fact there are people passionately arguing for and against on every internet forum.

    • Sheri says:

Sorry 2 c Ziva go, wish she would stay, show will not b the same, miss Franks also, they better not kill her off. Have all seasons and watch them often, love all characters. Dietz and Kinsy will never b a couple on Los Angeles.

    • sam says:

here is a thought ziva becomes the director of mosad to replace her father then she can still make guest apperances from time to time

    • Huge Fan says:

Is there a petition in play anywhere that we can sign to present to the network to keep Ziva on the show?

    • Mary says:

This is crazy why would they get rid of such a great actress. The whole team has a chemistry that works. They do need to get tony a real love interest and same with McGee. Next they will be getting rid of Abby. I love this show my all time favorite and watch all the reruns on USA.

    • Wendy Spinner says:

please don’t leave Cote NCIS won’t be the same without you Ziva. Tony needs you and so do your fans.

      • Pennie says:

I agree Wendy. It will not be the same. I like to see Ziva and Tony get together. That will be so wonderful. I don’t want to see Cote go. She is a beautiful girl and a good actress. I will not watch it if she leaves the show. She is smart and witty. She is terrific.

    • Ezekial Smalls says:

The only reason I kick everyone out my house on Tuesday at 7:30 was to get ready to watch NCIS
Ziva and Tony. Ziva gone they might as well get rid of Tony and end the SHOW PERIOD . Totally UPSET shame on CBS Pay the Woman she is doing the same Job Must be Republicans(HAHAHA)

    • thats the end of ncis all viewers just don’t know it yet and cbs may be gettin taken of the air to keep cbs call 1-888-892-2253 please ncis fanatics call so we can still watch ncis and tony will be devastated look at how he reacted in episode truth and consequences he stated he could no live without her

    • Bill Hall says:

I think Ziva should stay for the Fans you are like Danica no Ziva no show no Danica no Nascar

    • emma walker says:

I’ve watched this show forever and I’m very sad that zeva is leaving. What are they gana do between tony and her?????

    • mstephens says:

Cote de Pablo can NOT leave the show she is now making it I have watch this show before it started and she is good PLEASE HAVE SOMEONE PAY HER TO STAY
if it is like the other CSI people will stop watching when you have a show that is good why ruin it by letting your or one of your top stars leave????
Maybe the producers will get together and offer more money this staff is the best don’t let them leave ANY OF THEM……………………………………………………………………………………

    • Denna Freed says:

The powers that be have already stated that they are NOT killing Ziva off and that there will be closure to the Tony/Ziva storyline. It is possible that since Gibbs has a no dating team members rule that Ziva will leave the team to pursue a romantic relationship with Tony.

    • I don’t want Ziva to leave the show. I love her character and even love her as a person,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,even though I do not know her. She’s beautiful, she’s an Israeli and a tremendous asset to NCIS.

    • Ray says:

I think the main reason they didn’t kill off Ziva was because the fan base is/was against
it.They killed off Kate, Jenny and Mike, Killing Ziva could have been their version of
      jumping the Shark.

    • joe h. lavenue says:

I have tried to watch ncis since ziva leff but don’t really care much for it. I have not watched it last two week. Hope them good luck but don’t believe it will happen.

  2. Kat says:

my mind just exploded. ncis without ziva?

    • Amber says:

She was my favorite character. Guess I no longer need to worry about deciding between NCIS or SHIELD because without Cote I see no reason to watch. I wish her the best and hope to see her on TV soon.

      • I wholeheartedly agree!!! There will be a dead Marine in every alley with the same stale writing and Cote was at least the one character that brought some semblance of mystery and interest to the plot!

        • Marissa says:

If Ziva was your only reason for watching, and you don’t like the writing, I’m certain there will be something else to interest you come fall.

          • Thank goodness for reruns. I’m finding it hard already to watch when I know immediately some Naval personnel or Marine is going to be found dead in an alley or strung up from the rafters someplace.

          • davidelaine17@yahoo.com says:

The writing was awesome … The plots fantastic. Loved each one except Abby.

            Sent from my iPhone

          • Marissa says:

The show being about investigators of Navy and Marine crimes, maybe we should expect the show to show more of that?

    • Marissa says:

First 2 seasons they did just fine.

      • Kat says:

fair enough. however, there have been far more seasons with ziva than without. it’s going to be strange not having her around.

  3. Dick Whitman says:

    no1curr abt this flop show

    • Marion says:

I think its 20 million weekly viewers would probably disagree with you.

      • JBC says:

This show is #1 in ratings. I wish Cote de Pablo well in her further pursuits. Loved the character of Ziva.. In a show like this additional characters are easy to blend in. I think NCIS does that so well. Great Show, and Great Cast.

        • Cindy says:

          I, too, wish Cote well in her future pursuits (do we know what she’s going to be doing? Is she in another series or is she tired of the grind of series tv? Bu I do wish she hadn’t chosen to leave. I *really* liked the character and thought there were all kinds of possibilities for a Tony-Ziva relationship;

      • Mike R. says:

Yeah, I hate NCIS, but it wouldn’t dare call it a flop.

  4. Liz says:

NOOOOO! She’s my favorite character! I wish the best of luck to her on all of her future endeavors but at the same time I am super bummed right now.

  5. laura meakin says:

Well honestly thought they would have ziva for another season however it makes sense perhaps as when ziva used the dreaded “friend” word to tony it knocked that pairing on the head. She will be missed.

  6. Becky says:

Totally bummed that Ziva and de Pablo are outta there. Such a disappointment.

  7. Patrick says:

    Will Tony never find love?

    • ClassicNCISfan says:

He never had it with Ziva….violence does not equal love

      • Tiffany says:

OK, this isn’t an anti-domestic violence PSA, it’s a TV show. When has Tony ever abused Ziva? Never. Sure, they’ve been in violent situations before, but that’s their job and it certainly has brought them closer over the years. He most certainly has had love for Ziva. Whether it’s romantic love is something that fans will debate for years, but there’s no doubt he loves her as a friend and someone he’d risk his life for so I would recommend you calm the heck down.

        • Emerald says:

Actually, I believe the comment was meant the other way. Ziva had been violent with Tony on several occasions and a number of ‘Tony’ fans never forgave her for that. She attacked him and pulled a gun on him near the end of season 6 for example.

          • Wren says:

Yep. Her list of trespasses against Tony is pretty long. Writers screwed the pooch with some particular biggies and never saw fit to address them adequately after the fact. Continuity is in important in a show like NCIS because fans get invested and know canon sometimes better than the revolving door of writers seem to. 30 minute comedies can more easily be forgiven for the more stand alone nature of dropped blips that are never addressed.

    • Linda Piper says:

Will Tony ever find love? Maybe yes .Maybe no. Oddly enough I always hoped that he and the female chaplain in one series (sorry can’t remember number) ,would get together.Once he got over his juvenile behaviour towards what she is,I could see them as a couple. And a happy one at that. For Ms. De Pablo I wish nothing but happiness, and plenty of work in the future. I’ve enjoyed her performance as Ziva very much.I will miss Agent David, but Ms. De Pablo must go where her heart leads her.As must we all.Goodbye and Good Luck. And onwards and upwards with Season 11 of NCIS.

  8. Heather Long says:

When Ziva first arrived, it took me a long time to warm up to the character. But I adore her and I always wanted to see her relationship with Tony go SOMEWHERE and now they strung it out so long that won’t happen. I will seriously miss her come the new season, though I wish the actress all the best.

    • Tiffany says:

I feel exactly the same way!! When Kate died, I thought there was absolutely no way I could like “this new Ziva character.” Everyone told me that she’d grow on me and they were right! She grew up as a person (yes, I do realize that Ziva David is fictional, you don’t need to remind me.) I am truly hoping that TPTB don’t insert some new female character, try and force a spark between her and Tony (EJ Barrett, anyone??) and then expect us to believe he’ll be happier with said new girl than he would have been with our favorite Hebrew-speaking ninja.

  9. Liz says:

So bummed. The chemistry between Ziva and Tony is so great!!

  10. Leah says:

Does that mean no tiva????? Noooooooooooooo!

  11. Jan Todd says:

    That really sucks!!

  12. Steve F. says:

In the immortal words of Keanu Reeves… “Whoa.”

I can’t picture an NCIS with Cote de Pablo. I can understand why she’d want to move on – 8 years is a LONG time in TV years – but still…

Although if she shows up on Rizzoli and Isles, I’d wonder if the fix was in.

  13. Jonesy says:

OH MY GOD NOOO!!!!!!! This is the worst. I am officially severing my ties with NCIS.

  14. Aly says:

I’ve never really warmed to Ziva (or the whole Tiva issue) so I’m the opposite of bummed. Excited to see what (who) will come next.

    • I always liked the idea of Tony and Kate more than Tony and Ziva, but always fully understood look, Kate’s dead, Ziva’s here, I’m not going to hold a grudge or be bitter or anything, but I never really got attached to her either. That said, she’s been with the group for so long that I think it will seem odd at least at first without her there.

    • Dee says:

I couldn’t agree with you more. I really liked Kate and had a hard time enjoying the show with Ziva. Maybe the new agent will have some warmth and Tony can find love.

    • workerbee says:

I agree! I’m glad to see her go. Not bummed AT ALL! Don’t want to see JLC back either! Not a good fit for Gibbs…

  15. Martin says:

Boooooooo. They really couldn’t afford to give the actress a pay rise on THEIR MOST WATCHED SHOW!! – This screams Criminal Minds actresses again to me. It’s obviously about money – otherwise they would of announced it earlier. I know the show survived after its last main female (Sasha Alexander – Kate) left but that was before the show got really big. Do think it is going to suffer – big time. Wonder who they will get to replace her, hopefully someone who has equally good chemistry with Michael Weatherly.

    • Lulu says:

Suffer, yes. How much, I don’t know. Especially now that it will be up against the new Avengers show on ABC.

    • erin says:

I do like Ziva and will miss the character, but I have confidence, because I’m pretty sure that Michael Weatherly could have chemistry with a phonebook.

      • Shannon says:

Great point! He is amazing enough to have chemistry with anyone. I mean he and McGee have chemistry off the charts!

      • M3rc Nate says:

Yeah but do you want Chemistry? Or do you want actual action. I swear if they could they would keep this show going till the actors died, and Tony at 80 would still be single and the show runners would still be teasing him and whatever female character is on the team who took Ziva’s place.

NCIS: Take a hint from your spin off (Densi) and actually MAKE SOMETHING HAPPEN dont just tease for the entire series (aka JAG). So Fracking annoying.

This is the PERFECT opportunity for the show to hire someone Tony has great chemistry with, and within a season have them get together and it be permanent.

      • somy says:

Only if there was a “like” option for your comment. Can’t be said more accurately than this.

        • M3rc Nate says:

Thank you thats very nice of you. Yes i wish the comments on this site had it so you made an account (like forum sites do) so you could keep track of all of your comments and replies, and also it had a “vote up, vote down” ability to it.

    • Kibbles says:

It actually sounds like SHE decided to leave to work on other projects, NOT about money. It sounds nothing like the issue with Melina Kanakaredes of CSI:NY OR the actresses of Criminal Minds.

And, yeah… pretty sure Michael Weatherly could have amazing chemistry with a rock.

    • SAM says:

Personally think they will end up going with an actress in her mid 40’s, someone who has been on a TV series before, and who might bring some fans with her to offset some of the loss of fans that is going to take place. Doubt that person will bring enough to staunch the bleeding, but do think that is ultimately the direction they will take.

    • NCIS Fan says:

Agreed, why put the fans through torment and hope if she was exiting. They could have done it much sooner. I hated the way the writers devolved her character and soften her way too much. It took me awhile to warm to her, but loved her. I loved her more when she was kick butt female agent not what they turned her into. They (writers) could had done it better. At least with Abby and Mcgee even though off screen they gave us a shot of them together. If the writers had balls they could of put Ziva and Tony together see where it went etc then had them apart or grow together. All I can say is I will catch the reruns on cbs or USA Network and take it off my must see show on Tuesday and watch something else. The show should get back to the main core group with stories and bring Gibbs to be the leader again not Vance. I have so many thoughts, but do not like that we see Vance so much and he is running things in the group more than Gibbs and stepping over Gibbs. With Sheppard it was different. Can’t they get rid of a male cast member even if “for creative” purposes and replace with another?? I hate that it is always the female lead to go and get replaced and hope the replacement can blend and fit in and we have to get use to that person.

      • NoChance says:

She may not have decided until this summer so the show wrote the Season 10 finale as if she was returning.
But they did have Tony say: “This might not work out well for you” right before he, McGee and Ziva resigned.
Always good to have something to build off of if a performer decides to not sign a new contract.

        • Susan says:

McGee AND Ziva?????? Both gone????? I hated it when they wrote out Jenny Shepherd character and wasn’t thrilled when they reduced Duckie’s role (but glad they increased Palmer’s role). Well the writers have to be on the top if their game to clear the waters of all these flailed. As for Vance, never warmed up to him after Jenny left. Don’t even get me stated on Mike Franks leaving. He was a good pop up support character for team like FBI agent Farnell. Don’t see much of him anymore either.

      • Jason Biggs says:

Finally… now we need to get the rest to follow. NCIS has lost it’s zeal. LA is much better. I trust RED will follow the fast paced format of LA

    • Marissa says:

Cote chose to leave, as per her statement. Who knows what her reasons were. Maybe she wanted extra time off and they couldn’t give it to her, maybe she wanted a reduced schedule. We’ll never know.

  16. Jenn says:

Oh my God!!! No!!! I don’t think any conclusion they come up with to Ziva’s story will be satisfying. The writers have been working the Tony & Ziva relationship for years and now she leaves?!

Cote did an exceptional job this past season when Eli David was killed. Her exit will have a definite impact.

  17. Andy says:

Oh this is painful. Even though she hadn’t yet signed up for another season, I was hoping that she still would. I’ll give anything that Cote does In the future, but in my opinion, Ziva is a great character and this is going to be a tough change-up.

  18. sladewilson says:

Good Luck, Cote!!! I loved me some Ziva. Now lets start with the Vegas line – does she walk away or do they pull the NCIS standard and kill her off?

    • Heather Long says:

I have a feeling she will return to Israel and Mossad to finish her father’s work.

    • Hopefully, because she was so loved for so long, they won’t kill her – I was never the biggest Ziva fan, but she’s a beloved character and I think it would hurt the show if she was killed off.

      • sladewilson says:

It’s an NCIS staple to kill people off but I would like to see them go full circle with Ziva. She came in as the Mossad liason to NCIS, so how about now being the NCIS Liason to Mossad and be Vance’s eyes and ears there. This way she can recur like Mike Franks, etc…

        • Bisonlawyer says:

Yes! I LOVE your theory. It has a symmetry that feels so right. I think they know that there’s no going back to the well on killing one of the core group. It was done so masterfully and iconically with Kate that it can’t be matched. So, why do a pale comparison? Yes, they killed Jen but she didn’t have the same role in the group. That didn’t feel like killing Kate again but this one would— both Kate/Ziva are women, loved by Dinozzo and field agents on Gibbs’ team.

        • JBC says:

I like that idea sladewilson. Hope they don’t kill off her character.. after her dad died she may just want to go back to Israel. Grief is a strong emotion and makes people reevaluate their lives when they lose someone close to them.

      • I agree. I love Cote and her role as badass Ziva…wow, what a character!….she never disappoints. I wish her all the best!!!…”Tony” needs to step down from his perpetual Romeo role . He is too old and jaded to be an honest-to-goodness loverboy…please, writers, give him a mature storyline. I have been watching this show forever…I hope a facsimile of Ziva is introduced to keep that aura of mystery going, and of course, add spice to the show. I hate to see it dissipate ..

        • Alisa Neely says:

maybe NOW, that ziva will be GONE ( saddly long over due imo); tony WILL get MORE good storylines….where he will once again be the “work smarter, NOT harder” agent he was….before tptb decided to turn him into a JOKE, to make ziva look better then she was……they need to REMIND everyone, just WHY gibbs WANTED him at ncis and on HIS team as well as his SFA.

  19. scifi451 says:

Yes quite disappointed that she is leaving. She is so much a part of the team and the show.

  20. Lulu says:

Bummer, she had just come off from a fantastic season. I was looking forward for her return to see what would happen to Ziva.

  21. Mrs. Charlene markel says:

I am so upset right now reading this. She was my favorite. Wish she would change her mind. Will not be the same show without her.

  22. Mir says:

It will be interesting to see who replaces her in the team

    • I know, right? I hope she’s full of life and super funny! :)

    • Larc says:

My vote is for Special Agent Abigail Borin (played by Diane Neal).

      • Karen says:

That’s who I’m hoping for, too!

      • Marissa says:

Me too. Diane Neal is a fantastic actress and I liked Borin.

      • Doug H says:

        never happen…. she’s too old…. It’ll be someone compatible with Tony… not Gibbs…

        • Larc says:

She’s too old for Tony? Or maybe he’s too old for her.

Diane Neal DOB: Nov 17, 1975
Michael Weatherly DOB: Jul 8, 1968

          • JC says:

Too old? Diane Neal is only four years older than Cote, and as the commenter above me pointed out, still seven years younger than Michael Weatherly. And she’s twenty four years younger than Mark Harmon. What is this “too old” business? That’s ridiculous.

          • JC says:

Oops, meant to reply to Doug, not you. Sorry!! :(

        • Darlene says:

Why does the next agent have to be compatible with Tony? And wouldn’t that just be a slap in the face of fans who invested a lot of years in Tiva, just to see another ship take it’s place because that’s the formula?

Heck, ditch the formula. Let Tony have an off-screen relationship with a police officer or piano teacher or anyone not at NCIS. I don’t want to see anymore drama around Rule 12. Just let the ship sale and pull NCIS out of its stale moorings.

Sad to say, but Cote’s departure is an opportunity to change the game, do something different. Change is always an opportunity. I hope TPTB see it for the gift that it is.

      • Esaul says:

I’d love to see Diane Neal used more. Even her chemistry with Michael is quite amusing (to me).

      • That’s my vote! Diane Neal!

  23. Beverly Lindsey says:

Loved Ziva, will miss her, I hope we see her on someother show soon. She is terrific.

  24. Frank says:

So this is how NCIS ends…

  25. kate says:

this is sad news. I loved the relationship she had with Gibbs (Tony too, but more so Gibbs). I hope they write something really good for her.

  26. MAS says:

Would have been happy if she stayed, but I am looking forward to changing the dynamic. Seems like no agreement was the easy way out of the are they/aren’t they mess they had created.

  27. I think the death of her father and other things that have happened of late will make her miss Israel… so she might try to return to her roots there. Or they could kill her off.

What should happen now is that McTimster should become the new middle agent and there should be a new probie.

  28. Tami Regan says:

OMG, I so do not want to see Ziva go, she is part of the family, at least come back and do shows here and there like Mike Franks. Ziza leaving is the worst news ever, I’m so bummed!

  29. lai says:

This is heartbreaking…Thinking that TiVa will also have a closure sucks!

  30. Joel says:

I will miss her, I hope Ziva returns when the show ends, to be with Tony.

  31. Diane Daly says:

She bought a great sense of humour within the team, will miss her. I’m sure they will replace her with another great actress, after all the writers keep the momento going.. please dont let Pauley and rest go. Heres to the next season, keep it going, God bless xx

  32. Courtney E says:

WHAT?! So bummed right now. I loved her character. NCIS won’t be the same without her.

    • Gailkate says:

No it won’t, and I can’t believe CBS wasn’t ready to fight like crazy to keep her. Face it, they’re all getting a little older, chunkier, less believable as tough young agents. Even though Gibbs was far senior he still looked able to handle anything. It’s getting harder to believe that, and the ho-hum romance with Jamie Leigh Curtis just made him seem further over the hill. Ziva was a real spark, the whole Tiva thing aside. I guess for some the hinted romance was important, but for me the plots and characters were crucial. I don’t know how they can revamp enough to get past this season.

  33. Berenice says:

  34. Jack D.Wahl, Jr says:

Whoa…. Mind blown… gray matter all across the living room floor…. Adiós TIVA….. Mahalo to what ever is afoot now….

  35. D says:

No :(((( I can’t believe this is happening. I was so looking forward to the next season and now this. And I just know they’re going to kill her off :(
I just can’t deal with this news :(

  36. Tina says:

Nothing against the actress and hope she does well in her career…but YAY no more Tiva!

  37. Kymberlie says:

This is the worst decision ever as a fan. She has been there so long I can’t imagine the show without her. She’s going to have to be killed and then we’re going to have a season of the team on the revenge/emotional warpath. Ugh. I was excited for September now I wish it would stay away. This is why shows are learning to pull the trigger on their couplings before stuff like this happens. If this year had been the year of Tiva as promised Tiva fans would have had some happiness and those who weren’t wouldn’t have had to put up with it.

I realise as i’m writing this i’m more annoyed about this than I first thought but then again if the actor doesn’t want to be there what can we do?

  38. jj says:

Ziva was why I got totally addicted to the show. She completes the team. I don’t know if I can bare to watch the show without her. I guess it all depends on how the story ends. Totally gutted.

  39. Kristin says:

I stopped watching NCIS awhile ago because I couldn’t stand Ziva. Now maybe I will watch again.

  40. chestal says:

nooooo I want the opposite of this noooope nope nope nopeeee

  41. Ding dong the witch is dead!!!!! This is GREAT NEWS!!!! I look forward to the season now instead of dreading it. I just hope Ziva goes out disgraced, dishonored and dead as she deserves.

    • Asusualyouareamoron... says:

And you never fail to leave stupid, moronic comments showing your entire lack of taste and civility. But considering this is your usual norm–not surprised. Tejas–tacky a-hole as usual….

      • Legion says:

@Asusualyouareamoron: OMG!!!. Heaven forbid she have an opinion different from yours! Was it emphatic? Yes. Does tejas have the right to feel that way? Yes. Does she have the right to express her feelings? Yes. (are you seeing the pattern here, moron?)

I agree 100% with tejas. After all the crap Ziva’s pulled, the TREASON she’s committed (against both the U.S. and Israel), the bullying, the manipulation, the lying, the disrespect, the — I’m sorry, I’m lost. Why are you upset with tejas’ statement again?

        • Seriously? says:

Really Legion, go back on your meds. You may not agree with Asusualyouareamoron, but their opinion is just as valid as yours, and they can express it as well–unless you are making the rules for who can or cannot express opinions the internet. You sure go crazy over a television character–a fictional one….

          • Triton says:

Wow. See, Seriously, here’s the difference between you and >moron, and Legion: she (he?) did not insult anyone, nor call them names. This is called class (see also: manners; consideration).

And as for your last, rather asinine, statement about ‘go crazy over a television character – a fictional one’ . . . I’m sorry, did you somehow manage to skip every single other comment on this forum, wherein a large number of them are ‘nooooooooooooooo!’, ‘Ziva can’t leave!’ ‘She has to get with Tony or I’ll die!’ ‘I’ll quit watching now!’?

Or is that different because those are from people who like Ziva?

I too agree with Legion and Tejas, though i concede the latter could have been more tactful. And I’m not on any meds or going crazy — I haven’t watched NCIS in several years, because between Ziva, Tony’s character assassination, Abby’s regession, Tim’s bitchiness, and the general decline of quality of the show itself, it hasn’t appealed to me. CdP’s departure has brought me a little optimism, but that’s one factor against several more, so we’ll see.

      • as524 says:

Betting this ‘person’ is one of the fringe old guard tiva fans (who have already posted here under their real IDs) who just can not accept any opinion that doesn’t wank the princess & the faux pairing….

Even now the regulars are acting as if the only suitable way to write her off is to put her together with Tony….

Either KILL HER or ship her back to Israel to face murder charges.

    • Dee says:

      Its FANTASTIC news!!!!!!!

Now I’m totally looking forward to the new season. Was NOT going to watch anymore but now…woohoo!!!!!

    • Lee says:

oookay….man u folks really get flippin’ mean and downright vicious about a character on a show. can’t blame the character ziva – she plays the part the writers give her. blame the writers – not the actors or actresses….but yeppers you are entitled to your opinion…whew….have a great day…

    • Maureen says:

Julia, Im sure you are an ugly person inside and I can imagine you are so sick. How’s your mother? Shave her mustache.

      • LOLOL!!!! Wow, I think your own inner core is showing, Maureen. You attack a real person who detests a fictional character? Wow. I wonder how you’d feel about people who actually know and despise CdP?

      • cernicalo says:

Maureen, you’re response is out of line. Everyone is entitled to an opinion regardless of whether or not you agree. Disagree with the opinion, not the person. To make a personal attack on the person making the comment is an example of childish behavior.

  42. arial2 says:

Disappointed. Hopefully, they’ll allow Ziva a more graceful exit than they did Jenny. This show tends to have strong women characters, but then turns around and kills them off, as if to say strong women = short lives. Kind of a mixed message. As much as I’ll miss Ziva, I wish Cote de Pablo the best of luck and hope her next job will provide her more opportunity to use her opera-trained voice.

    • Amanda says:

Never thought about it before, but you’re right!

    • michelle says:

I was just talking to my son about that same thing…….from the strong women aspect. What gives with that? I’m done with NCIS now, just like I was with Criminal Minds with their stupid plot line to remove the women in the show.

      • Claire says:

This is very true! I was a loyal viewer of JAG and have been of NCIS as well, AND will try to remain so; HOWEVER, I am also a huge Joss Whedon fan. He is known for creating some strong, dynamic, female characters — and generally keeps them around, or if he kills them off, he at least resurrects them. :D 18 YEARS (shhhh!!!) of loyalty … hmmm, maybe S.H.I.E.L.D will rock the CBS boat after all.

This frustrates me and tears me up, because I love Mark Harmon, I LOVE NCIS, and the ENTIRE cast, but I love strong women role models just as much, and I want my children to appreciate them as well. Yes, there is Abby the scientist, but Ziva she is not. How can I continue to support a network that tends to take the females for granted? I watched Criminal Minds when I could, but when they started messing with the cast there, I no longer took the time to tune in ‘when I could’. Quandary.

        • Liz says:

I don’t like networks that tease and then don’t fulfill, I will try and stay with NCIS post Ziva but it will be tough. Besides I think Gibbs should see Shannon one day on the street and learn she and Kelly did not die (he didn’t see their casket), they were in witness protection!. That’s the only way he will find true love. Then it will all end. So there.

          • Marissa says:

This would reduce NCIS to a soap opera plot. The sharks would be circling and Fonzie would be prepping to waterproof his leather jacket.

      • Jerri says:

You can’t really compare what happened on Criminal Minds to this. Cote chose to leave, the women on CM were given the boot. They’re two different things.

    • April says:

Definitely. It makes me wonder why the show bothers to pair any of the women with any of the male leads. First Tony & Kate (which really didn’t come into definition as an actual thing until after Kate’s death), then Gibbs & Jenny, now Tiva? (Not that I really care since I didn’t get as invested with Tiva as I did with Jibbs.)

  43. This totally sucks! I love Tony and Ziva and have been waiting patiently for them to finally do something. Grrrrrrr Well, I guess something will be done with them now huh? I can’t even imagine the team without her. What a shame.

    • terri says:

I totally agree that this sucks!! NCIS has been my favorite show since its inception and I will continue to be an avid follower. I am sure that Ziva leaving is all about money! She wants more and they don’t want to give it to her even though her chemistry along with the others is one of the things that makes the show #1. Writers do the writing, producers do the producing and directiors do the directing but if you do not have the chemistry between the actors, IT WILL BE A TOTAL FLOP! Wake up CBS! I can’t imagine anyone else replacing her so I will be very intersted in what they do.

    • mrs. mickey freeman says:

do not take ziva out of the picture she one reasdon we enjoy watching ncis, sher is great. m. freeman

  44. Donna says:

How sad! It is just like criminal minds…another show I used to love. I gave it a chance when they let go of the female characters. And again when they came back. But the show is just not the same. CAN is making a big mistake letting her go.

  45. TV Gord says:

I’ll miss her, but I think she’s doing the right thing. I certainly won’t miss the whole “will they or won’t they” fanaticism of the Ziva fanbase. It’s a good time to move on.

Personally, I’d be more upset to lose Abby or Ducky.

  46. John says:

Here’s hoping they give the character a happy send off. Enough with the dead women already.

    • TV Gord says:

That;s true. I’d like to see a relatively happy ending, such as going back to Israel to head up her own team!

  47. Maria says:

How about ending the show? I think this news makes it time to go.

    • ClassicNCISfan says:

Nope, with Ziva gone the show now has new life and a chance to really grow.

    • Kasper F. Nielsen says:

I completely agree. I don’t like it when there’s major cast changes late in a shows lifetime. It’s usually a sign that they should just end it before it starts becoming absolutely terrible – and to be honest NCIS haven’t been on its a-game in the last few seasons anyway. It’s been pretty decent, but it hasn’t been as good as it was for the first 7 or 8 seasons.

  48. Me says:

    NCIS is over for me…

    • emily says:

      Me too:((

      • Christine Moheiser says:

Keep Ziva’s character or end the show.

        • Margie Erben says:

I AGREE!!!!!!!!!! WHAT WILL THE SHOW BE WITHOUT ZIVA?????????????

          • Marissa says:

            You’ll survive.

          • stressline2013 says:

Duckie will channel his inner Illya Kuryakin (look it up if you’re too young to remember) when he gets kidnapped and tortured.

Ziva will return four months pregnant. Whose baby is it? The mystery resolved when it turns out to be Tony’s. They move in together and Tony becomes a father.

Jane Lynch (who would leave Glee while it still has an audience) comes on as a new field agent. She plays an “out” lesbian who formerly was in the Secret Service First Lady detail.

The rumor has it that she has connections in Washington because she frequently seems to know about things no one, not even Vance, knows about.

Abby has an “is she or isn’t she” flirtation with her.

            Jimmy goes crazy over this.

Abby tries to figure out is she’s bi.

Since most of you here don’t like Jamie Leigh Curtis, Gibbs meet an old flame, played by
Sigourney Weaver (who hasn’t had a hit since Avatar).

Once Ducky escapes his kidnappers, Cheryl Ladd returns as his old flame Dr. Mary Courtney (from 2011, “Thirst”) and romantic sparks fly. A new Duckie emerges.

Sorry, no change for Vance this season.

As for Gibbs, we finally find out if or how he gets the sailboats out of his basement. I have an idea for a mind blowing subplot involving an adventure on the high seas.

Remember, Donald Bellisario, you heard it here first.

    • mikerochen says:

Then you’re really missing out!! While I miss Ziva, and I hope she winds up making a couple of appearances each season for the next few years, I really like the new character taking her place, NSA Analyst Ellie Bishop (played by Emily Wickersham). She’s cute, funny, smart, a little quirky, and has already become something of a foil for Dinozzo. I can’t wait to see what else they have in store for her (as well as the rest of Team Gibbs) going forward.

      • No, I disagree, no one can replace Ziva. NCIS is not the same anymore and will not be since Ziva’s departure.
The show has lost their mind and is losing it’s audience at the same time.

        • BJ says:

What basis of fact/stats do you have to support that the show is losing viewers? Their ratings have been rock steady.

        • I agree that no one can replace Ziva. And you’re right, the show won’t be the same without her. I felt the exact same way when they killed off Kate Todd. However, we need to remember that, in both cases, the actress in question (first Sasha Alexander, then Cote de Pablo) CHOSE to leave the show. The producers and writers had no choice but to write their respective characters out of the show. Just as Ziva could never have replaced Kate, so too is it correct that Ellie cannot replace Ziva. However, just as in life, change is the very thing that is keeping this show fresh and keeping it as the most watched show on television in Year 11. You are absolutely right that the show will not be the same without Ziva. The show was never the same after Kate died. But the evolution of the show, the changing of the characters, and the always interesting stories have been what has kept this show interesting. Ellie Bishop is not a replacement for Ziva, but she is a very interesting new team member who I believe will help to continue to keep this show popular and its stories interesting. If you want to stop watching b/c Ziva is no longer a part of the show, that is your choice. You’re just going to be missing out on what is already a new and refreshing character, not to mention some really interesting and entertaining stories. Judging by the continuing popularity of NCIS as well as the reception Emily Wickersham is getting from the audience, you’re in the minority.

        • Steve B says:

Glad your not my Doc. You haven’t been watching the ratings. It’s still the #1 Drama show on T V and that’s BY FAR. Check it out in the newspapers each week and you will see.

  49. Jennifer says:

AWESOME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! That is truly the greatest thing I have heard all day. Hopefully she doesn’t get guest shots on any of my other favorite CBS shows.

    • SAM says:

Yeah, right. If this is the greatest thing you heard all day — then it truly must not have been that good a day for you, eh?

  50. Dee says:

Done with NCIS. I have been a die-hard Tiva fan for years. IMO, Gary ruined this show.

    • Megan says:

Really, So you are okay with Tony being in an abusive relationship? Because that is what he would have been in. Ziva always reacts to anger with her fists. She killed the guy in the elevator, she hit Ray and she assaulted Tony. She treats him like something on the bottom of her shoe. She calls him dead weight, she says to him I need a shower after talking to you and what would a woman want with you? She threw an already hurt Tony to the ground, pointed a gun to his chest and then leg and wished him dead. She will not change and it’s canon that she doesn’t. She always reacts to anger with her fists. If Tony was the one to call her dead weight, say to her I need a shower after talking to you and what would a man want with you? And he threw his already hurt teammate to the ground, pointed his gun at her chest and then leg and wished her dead. Would you still want Tiva? You may say he deserved it, but nobody deserves to be assaulted like that. She had all that time to calm down and she didn’t. That’s almost like saying that it’s a woman’s fault for being assaulted because of what she’s wearing and that’s wrong. And so is what happened to Tony. Yes, I know this is a TV show, but would you want you niece, nephew, daughter, son, Aunt, or Uncle with an abusive partner? Or would you say you look cute together so you should stay together even if their partner assaults them? Or would you help that person out to get away from their abusive partner? Because that is what kind of relationship that Tony would be in if Ziva was still there.

      • Maestra says:

The key to this situation is Cote CHOSE to leave the show – the show creators did not ask her to leave and no one can force her to stay. She needed a change that no amount of money could entice her to change her mind.
