Spartacus: House Of Ashur Unleashes Violent New Trailer — Plus, Get Starz Premiere Date
What if Ashur hadn't died on Mount Vesuvius at the end of Spartacus: Vengeance? That's one of the questions Starz's new sequel series Spartacus: House of Ashur will aim to answer, with Nick Tarabay reprising his role as the titular Syrian slave. And now, a new red-band trailer has been unleashed, showing us what bloody hell is in store when the sequel series makes its violent return Friday, Dec. 5 on Starz.
The trailer (watch the green-band version above; click here for the uncensored option) teases fierce new players in Ashur's world, including his battle-hardened gladiator trainer Korris, played by Graham McTavish ("House of the Dragon"); relentless gladiatrix Achillia, played by Tenika Davis ("Jupiter's Legacy"); and the ambitious Tarchon, played by Jordi Webber ("Prosper"). Expanding the Roman stage, Julius Caesar, played by Jackson Gallagher ("NCIS: Sydney") and his wife, Cornelia, played by Jaime Slater ("Daredevil") join the cast of gladiators, nobles, villains and schemers all vying for power in a world where blood and lust are the ultimate weapons.
In addition, Lucy Lawless will guest-star in the premiere, reprising her Spartacus role of Lucretia. Lawless made her franchise debut in Spartacus: Blood and Sand and later appeared in spinoffs Spartacus: Gods of the Arena and Spartacus: Vengeance.
Additional cast includes Jamaica Vaughan (Home and Away) as Hilara, Ivana Baquero (Pan's Labyrinth) as Messia, Claudia Black (Ahsoka) as Cossutia, India Shaw-Smith (Supernatural) as Viridia, and Leigh Gill (Game of Thrones) as Satyrus.
The cabler calls Ashur an "epic new saga which re-imagines possibilities and turns of fate from the original fan-favorite series." The official description continues: "Spartacus: House of Ashur will be a history-bending, erotic, thrilling, rollercoaster experience that builds on everything that made the original series a colossal hit." It will also pose another hypothetical: "What if [Ashur] had been gifted the gladiator school once owned by Batiatus in return for aiding the Romans in killing Spartacus and putting an end to the slave rebellion?"
The series will be showrun and executive-produced by franchise vet Steven S. DeKnight.
