The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon At Last 'Reunites' Daryl And Carol

Sunday's episode of The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon does more than reveal exactly how our hero wound up in France, it also reunites him with Carol, at least by radio, and lets him know that... Wait, what's that, Carol? All we're getting is static. Dang it, neither we nor Daryl ever hear who she says has returned to the Commonwealth.

Really, though, the besties' brief exchange is just an intriguing aside in "Deux Amours." In other flashbacks, Daryl is recruited to round up walkers for, it turns out, Genet. And it's going fine until a couple of creeps kill an inept kid to earn extra credit for delivering the freshest muncher. Daryl throws a punch, and before he knows it, he's been locked up on Genet's ship to be served as walker food. Needless to say, during Daryl's escape, not one of the undead takes a bite of him, not even the super-fast, resilient walker that he encounters while trying to become a man overboard. Mind you, things are scarcely going better for our protagonist in the present.

'ALL THOSE YEARS OF TRAINING, AND I'M DONE IN BY A TELEPHONE POLE' | In our current timeline, Azlan dies fighting off walkers while he's camped out overnight with Daryl and Laurent. His one ask of Daryl? "Just get the boy to the Nest." Easier said than done, since in the morning, Daryl discovers that Laurent has cut free the boat and set it adrift. WTF? "Everyone I care about is gone. When we get to the Nest, you'll go, too," the kid tells his protector. "I don't want to be alone." Aww.

Soon, the Guerrier catch up to the tag team, and though Daryl sends Laurent running, he turns around and surrenders himself lest his messenger be harmed. Meanwhile, Isabelle can't bring herself to kill Quinn, so she considers taking another shot at suicide. Before she can go through with it, however, she receives a message via carrier pigeon from the Nest. (What it says, we don't see and aren't told.)

'TODAY WE MAKE OUR ENEMIES PAY' | When Quinn reveals that he's been invited to Maison Mére by Genet, Isabelle goes as his date. It is, of course, a trap. By this time, Genet has Daryl and Laurent in her clutches, and woman scorned Anna has disclosed that Quinn bribed a guard to get his son out of Paris. Genet uses Isabelle to coerce Laurent into making an appearance after her BS speech to show that France is united. And Daryl?

Oh, the villainess has saved the worst for "the American." He's ushered into an arena and given a weapon with which to fight a walker. No problem, right? Wrong. The walker in question is shot full of something that turns it into the zombie equivalent of Cocaine Bear. As the creature lunges at Daryl, the screen goes black. Hmm... wonder how fast Carol can get overseas with reinforcements.
