Rescue: HI-Surf Finale Ends With A Dramatic Departure — Have We Seen The Last Of [Spoiler]?

If Rescue: HI-Surf returns to Fox for a second season, it may be doing so without one of its original cast members.

Monday's finale ended with Will driving off into the sunset after revealing to Em that he's heading home to Australia. He told her that he'll be back, but his delivery wasn't exactly convincing, nor were we encouraged by his decision to slip away from Ocean's without saying goodbye. Not even a pity dance from Laka could lift Em's spirit — and we imagine that would life anyone's spirits.

In Will's defense, can you really blame the guy for wanting to split after receiving that epic (and well-deserved) tongue-lashing from his ex-fiancée?

He wasn't expecting Julie to accept his apology, but he never thought she'd call him "an emotionally stunted liar whose psychological issues are going to require years of therapy to even scratch." Sensing that Will still had a single shred of dignity remaining, she made sure he knows: "I dodged a bullet." Ouch!

For what it's worth, series creator Matt Kester says that Adam Demos' character is expected to return to Hawaii, should the show be renewed. "He needs some time to go away and get his head right, and that's what we were trying to set up, that he's able to do that," Kester tells TV Insider. "The hope is that he comes back and they can be together. We'll see what we can do about that in Season 2."

Other finale developments included...

* Kainalu turned down Rosie's invitation to live together, but only because he feels like he should bunk with the rest of the team for a bit. Their relationship remains intact, though Rosie definitely suspects there might be something more between Kainalu and Hina. And is she wrong? Not only were his eyes locked on her during that hula number, but Hina also looked over at Kainalu and Rosie before agreeing to dance with that little snack Eitan. If we were Rosie, we wouldn't cross our fingers for a second season — it won't end well for her.

* Vince agreed to leave quietly, but Sonny's victory came at a price. He now owes Henry big-time.

* Sonny informed Laka that he's officially on the road to becoming a lieutenant.

* Em received an enticing offer to guide a social media mogul around the Pacific for three weeks, which she only accepted on the condition that she'd have an assistant (aka Will). With him now out of the picture, will she still take it?

Of course, none of this matters unless Rescue: HI-Surf is able to score a Season 2 renewal. If it doesn't return to Fox, will you be crushed? And if it does come back, what are your predictions for how things will play out? Is there anything you feel the show could do to improve?
