Found Recap: A Case Hits Close To Home, And Gabi Uncovers A Startling Truth About Annie
Remember Tony, the teen from Episode 4 who was involved in a human trafficking ring, and whose father Patrick blamed Gabi for him getting shot? After waking from his coma, Tuesday's Found saw the high schooler immediately arrested for kidnapping a child as part of the sinister operation.
Things also weren't going well for Mosely and Associates, whose PI license was at risk of being revoked after Melissa's death in last week's episode. Worried that their good work would be undone, Zeke called his wealthy and well-connected father Darrell Wallace (played by guest star Dwight Hicks) for help. That Darrell wasn't saved in Zeke's phone as "Dad" spoke volumes of their strained relationship.
Gabi was adamant about taking on Tony's case even though her license was currently in flux and Tony's father Patrick had refused to work with them. But with cops treating Tony as a criminal, Patrick changed his tune and hired Gabi.
The team didn't have the name of the trafficker they were after, so Zeke suggested using Bennett — the street he was abducted from — as a placeholder. Gabi called in a favor with the DA which stipulated no jailtime for Tony in exchange for his cooperation with their investigation.
With negative press getting in the way of M & A's ability to do their jobs, Gabi reached out to Mallory in the hopes of alleviating some of that outside pressure. But the police captain refused to play ball and revealed that Trent had turned down an offer to get his job back because he was "too busy drinking the M & A Kool-Aid."
In the basement, Sir was perplexed by Gabi's resoluteness to help Tony while refusing to see him as worthy of redemption. The undeniable truth was that Gabi had no empathy for her former abductor.
"Doesn't matter how many people you help me save," she spat. "Our sins are not equal, and you know why."
Negative public opinion of Gabi began to shift when former clients came forward with stories of how she saved their lives.
In another win, the team thwarted Principal Chloe's efforts to continue using Tony's school to target the bad kids no one would miss for her trafficking ring. Gabi reached Tony, who went back to free the others, just in time to stop him from killing a fellow student involved in the seedy operation.
As Zeke and Lacey celebrated another life saved, Zeke's father dropped in for a surprise visit. Darrell came through for his son and delivered M & A's reinstated PI license. Elsewhere, Gabi apologized to Trent for taking her pain out on him and urged the cop to return to his job.
The case had dredged up painful memories for Gabi since Sir was an English Literature teacher at her high school when he took her captive. It also inspired her to take another look at her old yearbooks, and she quickly confirmed that the mystery woman with the red ribbon we saw in flashbacks — who had promised to free her but never came back — was Stephanie "Annie" Lopez, Sir's previous victim.
Like Gabi, Annie was one of Sir's students when he abducted her. She managed to escape, but returned to save the next teen he targeted because she was sure that he wouldn't stop. However, a flashback earlier in the hour showed Sir tossing Annie's ribbon across the table at Gabi as a silent threat, with her fate left unknown.
Gabi vowed to make Sir pay for what he did to Annie, though Sir insisted he didn't kill her. Do you believe him?
