Found Recap: Gabi Struggles To Maintain Her Dark Secret And Sir Takes Advantage — Does He Have The Upper Hand?
Remember Trent's report of a "credible" Sir sighting near Gabi's house? It turns out that was a false alarm.
In Tuesday's episode of the NBC drama, titled "Missing While Homeless," Gabi raced home to find Sir still chained up in her basement. But the ease of knowing he remained in captivity evaporated with the reveal that Sir had been following Gabi for the last 20 years. According to Trent, there hadn't been a Sir sighting in the time he's known Gabi until this new report.
A flashback to Day 102 of Gabi's captivity under Sir (271 days until she escapes) saw the teenager find a stray kitten that had climbed in through a hole in the wall. While Sir wanted to keep him, Gabi refused to rip the young feline from his mother.
Back in 2023, Dahn visited a local encampment and learned that an unhoused man named Sampson had gone missing. He spearheaded the firm's investigation into finding Sampson, and Gabi grappled with keeping her dark secret under wraps.
She came close to being caught when Lacey showed up to her house unannounced and called out from upstairs. Sir wondered about the identity of the strange new voice and Gabi refused to answer. He then demanded Gabi tell him she needed him and that they were partners in exchange for his silence. When she refused to tell him she loved him, Sir threatened to scream and expose her big secret, and that's when Gabi caved.
"You son of b-h," she spat before reluctantly uttering the three words he needed to hear. But as Sir passed out from Gabi drugging him, she relayed how she really felt about her former captor. "I hate you," she said. And with Sir unconscious, Gabi narrowly avoided Lacey uncovering her lie.
The team eventually figured out that Sampson had planned to end his life at his RV near the woods on the anniversary of his family's tragic passing. Dahn and Gabi reached the distraught man in time, however, and convinced him that his life was worth living. With another missing person returned home, the crew celebrated with a shot of apple cider.
In another flashback, Sir commended Gabi for her selfless decision to let the kitten return to his mother. Gabi then called Sir a good person, adding that he can show her that by letting her go. Sir refused.
"You're the only good part of me, which is why I can't ever let you go," he explained, much to Gabi's horror.
In the present, Lacey again visited Gabi out of concern. She had noticed that Gabi kept the same books as Sir and had three locks on the basement door just like him. Gabi explained that the locks were there to make her feel safe at night, also noting that she hoped Lacey learned from being a part of the firm that they don't judge each other for the way they cope.
As Gabi resolved to end her twisted partnership with Sir, telling him that's it's over, Sir revealed that he wasn't just stalking Gabi. He was also looking for Bella, who he believed took Gabi away from him and destroyed their family. He hated Bella for that, and for not being able to find her. But when Lacey stopped by, he figured out that Lacey was Bella.
Armed with this new knowledge, he promised that if Gabi ever ended their partnership — if she let him go or ever tried to turn him in — he would kill Lacey.
Sir may be the one in chains, but it looks like he now has the upper hand.
