Big Brother Recap: Who Won The Power Of Invincibility? And Did They Use It?
All week long in the Big Brother house, current Head of Household Cameron had been orchestrating what he believed was a master plan, in which either Blue or Jag — but very likely Jag — would leave the house by week's end.
Little did he know, there'd been potential all along for his Head of Household reign to be rendered meaningless.
After some prompting from Julie Chen Moonves during last week's eviction episode, viewers at home voted for the houseguest(s) they wanted to see compete for the potentially game-changing Power of Invincibility, which allows its owner to save either this week or next week's evicted houseguest, including themself. And on Thursday's installment of the CBS series, we learned that Cirie, Jag, Matt and Cory had earned enough votes from America to compete in a game called the Power Path, in which they had to navigate a ball down a precarious, narrow, winding board and sink it into the chalice at the opposite end. All told, Matt won after finishing the Power Path in the fastest time — an impressive 45 seconds! — and he appeared to only divulge his new secret to Cirie, who was enormously touched by the trust Matt was putting in her.
Prior to the live house vote, a pre-taped segment seemed to indicate that Matt would indeed use the Power of Invincibility on Jag, should Jag get evicted. It initially appeared as though Jag might be able to secure enough votes on his own throughout the week that he wouldn't even need to be saved by Matt's power... but Jared would have been the swing vote in that case, and he was extremely unwilling to vote against Blue now that she's his "plus-one" in the house.
Not seeing a way to save Jag with the numbers, even his allies voted against him on Thursday night, and he was set to be booted in a 10-0 vote. It was all business as usual for a few minutes: Julie read the results, Jag hugged his housemates while looking utterly crushed at the news — but just as he grabbed his duffel bag and headed for the door, the house's Comic-verse orb began to glow, and the players received a message revealing that the Power of Invincibility had indeed been activated. (!!) Jag was now safe for the night, no one would be getting evicted, and perhaps most importantly, everyone will play in the next Head of Household competition, including Cameron. (For his part, Cameron took in this shocking news with a stiff smile on his face.)
We'll have to wait until Sunday's episode (8/7c) to find out who becomes the next HOH and who they'll nominate for eviction. In the meantime, tell us: Were you glad to see Jag get saved by the Power of Invincibility? And who would you like to see become Head of Household next? Drop a comment!
