AGT Just Brought Back Two Acts For Redemption In Season 20 — And One Got A Golden Buzzer! (Watch)
America's Got Talent brought back a pair of acts from previous seasons on Tuesday... to varying degrees of success.
Let's start with the Messoudi Brothers, a duo that previously performed as a trio when they first competed on AGT back in Season 14. Mel B immediately recognized the pair, asking what happened to their third member.
"There's still three of us," they promised the judges. "We left our brother at home for this one because he just decided to sit out. He has two children now, so he does some time off every now and then. We're trying something new that's quite a lot more dangerous than what we did last time."
As it turns out, "quite a lot more dangerous" was actually an understatement. Once a three-man balancing act, the Messoudi Brothers came back with a vengeance — and some enormous knives, which they didn't hesitate to juggle. Finishing their routine without severing any limbs would have been enough to earn them four yeses, but the fact that the brothers managed to undress and put on each other's clothes, all while keeping the knives in the air, pushed things over the edge.
"Having seen you before, I didn't think you'd be able to top it," Mel B told the brothers, who previously made it to the Season 14 semifinals. "I do want to say one thing to you, I think you were perfect." With that, she slammed her hand down on Sofia Vergara's Golden Buzzer, making it rain confetti from the sky.
Also back for a redemption on Tuesday was Alex Zinger, an aspiring dancer and current financial advisor, who previously competed in Season 19, though he never made it past the audition round. This time, he returned with a bevy of beauties to dance around him, a tactic which ultimately proved successful.
"Sometimes we have people on who are good but boring — you're bad but interesting," Simon Cowell told him. "That's the only way I can put it. I either like really good things or things that I just find interesting, and you are fascinating. You stand for every man who can't dance but wants to."
He didn't get a Golden Buzzer, but Alex did get four yeses from the judges, which is more than he could say after auditioning last season.
Both of these stories should give hope to Austin Brown, who auditioned on Tuesday with "When a Man Loves a Woman." The judges seemed to unanimously agree that he was "good," but he wasn't quite ready for AGT. He was told that he didn't have enough time to sing a second song, but he was encouraged to talk the producers into letting him audition again. Will we see him again this season, or will we have to wait another year or so before he's back on the AGT stage? Only time will tell!
