YOU, Ransom Canyon, The Last Of Us Lead Nielsen Streaming Top 10; Andor Returns With Series High
With the binge-drop release of its fifth and final season, Netflix's YOU dominated Nielsen's overall U.S. streaming ranking for the week of April 21, with nearly 1.7 billion minutes viewed across 53 episodes.
Nielsen notes that in terms of audience makeup, Adults 18-34 accounted for YOU's largest viewing share (37%), with 64% of that group being women.
Netflix's Ransom Canyon placed second on the overall chart with 1.3 billion minutes viewed/10 episodes, followed by The Last of Us (technically an "acquired" series, streaming on Max) with 937 million minutes/12 available episodes.
Over on the Top 10 originals ranking, YOU and Ransom Canyon were followed by last week's champ, Netflix's Black Mirror (which racked up 734 million minutes viewed for 33 episodes); the chart return of Disney+'s Andor (with a series-high 721 million minutes viewed for 15 available episodes); and Hulu's The Handmaid's Tale (698 million minutes/61 episodes).
Nielsen notes that about 65% of Andor's viewing total was for first three new episodes, indicating that a subset of viewers were also getting refreshed on Season 1. Andor was also the most male-skewing title of the week (67%).
Rounding out the Top 10 originals for the week of April 21 were Netflix's The Residence, Love on the Spectrum U.S. and Battle Camp, plus Paramount+'s MobLand and Prime Video's The Wheel of Time.
