Ahsoka, With Tuesday-Night Debut, Lands At No. 2 On Nielsen Streaming Ranking, Bests Andor's Premiere
Disney+'s Ahsoka debuted at No. 2 on Nielsen's latest U.S. ranking of streaming originals.
The Mandalorian offshoot — with its double-episode, Tuesday-night premiere — racked up 829 million minutes viewed for the week of Monday, Aug. 21. Ashoka thus bested Andor's triple-episode debut (which last September garnered 624 million minutes viewed in its first week) and The Mandalorian Season 3's opening week (823 million minutes), yet fell well shy of Obi-Wan Kenobi's double-episode premiere (1.03 billion minutes).
Netflix's Who Is Erin Carter? claimed the top spot this time around, by amassing 1.04 billion minutes viewed for its seven episodes.
Netflix's Untold trailed Ahsoka with 632 million minutes viewed/17 episodes, followed by Netflix's The Lincoln Lawyer (587 million minutes/20 episodes) and Hulu's Only Murders in the Building (559 million minutes/24 available episodes.
Rounding out the Top 10 originals for the week of Aug. 21 were a quartet of Netflix entries — Painkiller (551 million minutes viewed/six episodes), The Ultimatum: Marry or Move On (489 million minutes/18 episodes), Ragnarok (471 million minutes/18 episodes) and Gabby's Dollhouse (347 million minutes/57 episodes) — and then Hulu's Futurama (335 million minutes/140 episodes).
Meanwhile on Nielsen's latest overall ranking (which includes motion pictures, acquired series and what not), Suits yet again easily held onto the No. 1 spot, this time with 2.7 billion minutes viewed across Netflix and Peacock.
