This Presumed Innocent Finale Sneak Peek Raises Very Big Questions About That Fire Poker
If this week's episode if Apple TV+'s Presumed Innocent left you with big questions about the suddenly surfaced murder weapon... this sneak peek from the Wednesday, July 24 finale will not answer, but instead add to, them.
When last we tuned into the eight-episode adaptation of the Scott Turow legal thriller, chief deputy prosecutor Tommy Molto (played by Peter Sarsgaard) was handed the chance to put Rusty Sabich (Jake Gyllenhaal) on the stand, after the murder suspect crossed a legal line whilst defending himself.
In the wake of that successful grilling, Tommy returned home to find that his place had been broken into and ransacked. But most chilling, the item used to bludgeon Carolyn Polhemus — the fire poker missing from her fireplace set — had been left on Tommy's kitchen counter, with a printed note attached: "GO F–K YOURSELF."
Was Tommy handed the veritable "smoking gun" he has needed to beef up his case against Rusty?
Curiously, maybe not...?
In next week's season finale, titled "The Verdict" — and which critics/the press have not seen yet! — the truth behind Carolyn's murder will be revealed. But presumably before we get to that, Tommy and Raymond must deliver their closing arguments in court.
