Doctor Odyssey Plots Shark Attack-Themed Midseason Premiere — Exclusive First Look
Fifty years after Steven Spielberg's Jaws hit theaters, ABC's Doctor Odyssey is wading into sharksploitation waters with the announcement of a "two-part, jaw-dropping event."
TVLine has your exclusive first look at the midseason premiere, which kicks off Thursday, March 6 (at 9/8c) with a shark attack-themed episode. The hour picks up following a game-changing fall finale that revealed Avery is pregnant. The even bigger twist? She doesn't know who the father is after that threesome with Max and Tristan — but the following synopsis may hint at an answer.

Per ABC, "Max and Avery are at a crossroads" in Episode 9, "as Avery faces a difficult pregnancy decision. Meanwhile, after Munroe (played by Marcus Emanuel Mitchell) is bitten by a shark, The Odyssey takes a dangerous detour to rescue a sinking boat, where a mysterious new passenger catches Max's eye."

As TVLine exclusively reported, the second half Doctor Odyssey's maiden voyage will see the return of country music icon Shania Twain as widowed passenger Heather, who cozied up to Don Johnson's Captain Massey during Singles Week. Meanwhile, Paris Jackson (American Horror Stories) will board the boat as a yet-to-be-named passenger.
Doctor Odyssey, which premiered in September and immediately inspired a major conspiracy theory, stars Joshua Jackson as Max, "the new on-board doctor for a luxury cruise ship where the staff works hard and plays harder. It's all-hands-on-deck as Max and his small but mighty medical team" — which consists of Sean Teale's Tristian and Phillipa Soo's Avery — "navigate unique medical crises and each other, miles from shore."
Its freshman run resumes Thursday, March 6 at 9/8c on ABC (and streams next day on Hulu). Watch a teaser above, then hit the comments and tell us if you're looking forward to Doctor Odyssey's return.
