Bridgerton's Penelope Calls Colin Out For Ballroom Insult In New Season 3 Clip — Watch Their Exchange!
There wasn't much love between Penelope and Colin in a new Bridgerton Season 3 sneak peek released by Netflix on Valentine's Day.
Penelope, who overheard her longtime crush insult her last season at the Featherington Ball, called him out in a fiery exchange that teases a bumpy romance ahead for the pairing.
"You miss me but you would never court me. Is that correct?" she asked, rhetorically. "I overheard you at my mama's ball last season telling everyone how you would never ever court Penelope Featherington."
Her anger only intensified when he suggested they take this quarrel somewhere more private.
"Because I embarrass you?" she hit back. "Of course you would never court me. I am the laughingstock of the Ton, even when I change my entire wardrobe. It just never occurred to me that you of all people could be so cruel."

As the preview suggested, Bridgerton's third season — premiering the first four episodes that make up Part 1 on Thursday, May 16; followed by Part 2 on Thursday, June 13 — find Penelope moving on from her infatuation with Colin, having decided "it's time to take a husband, preferably one who will provide her with enough independence to continue her double life as Lady Whistledown, far away from her mother and sisters," per the official synopsis. But lacking in confidence, Penelope's attempts to secure a marriage proposal "fail spectacularly."
Meanwhile Colin, who returned from his summer travels with newfound swagger, will be "disheartened to realize that Penelope, the one person who always appreciated him as he was, is giving him the cold shoulder." Eager to win back her friendship, he offers to help her find a husband and must grapple with whether his feelings for her are "truly just friendly."
Plus, Penelope's estranged friend Eloise (Claudia Jessie) "has found a new friend in a very unlikely place," while "Penelope's growing presence in the Ton makes it all the more difficult to keep her Lady Whistledown alter ego a secret."
New casting additions this season include Daniel Francis (Once Upon a Time) as Marcus Anderson, who, while charming, earns the ire of some members of the Ton; Sam Phillips (The Crown) as Lord Debling, a genial lord with unusual interests; and James Phoon as Harry Dankworth, who isn't particularly smart but possesses seriously good looks.
Additionally, Hannah Dodd will step in as Francesca in Season 3, replacing original cast member Ruby Stokes.
