American Idol Contestant Stuns Lionel Richie With 'The Longest Run I've Ever Heard In My Life' (Exclusive Video)
Given that Lionel Richie has been a force in the music industry for more than 50 years, you'd think the American Idol judge has seen â and heard â it all by now. But you'd apparently be wrong.
Enter 19-year-old Jamier, who auditions on Sunday (ABC, 8/7c) with a performance of Teddy Swims' "Lose Control" that impresses all three judges, especially Richie.
"You gave me the longest run I've ever heard in my whole life," he says in TVLine's exclusive first look at the episode. "You started up here, and by the time you got down there, I was like, that can't be one breath. That cannot be one breath."
Jamier joins a growing list of memorable Season 23 auditions, which already includes the son of Backstreet Boy Brian Littrell, as well as a viral sensation who entertained (but didn't necessarily impress) the judges with her original song "Shut the Fâ Up."
According to ABC, the Idol premiere dominated adults 18-34 (0.35 rating) as the No. 1 entertainment show of the night and ranked No. 1 overall on both broadcast and cable in women 18-34 (0.44 rating) after seven days of linear viewing. Idol was also reportedly the No. 1 most social entertainment program on television that night with 727,000 total social interactions.
