TV Series Inspired By Usher's Music Catalog In Development At Universal

Fresh off his polarizing (yet very widely seen) Super Bowl halftime performance, Usher has inked a deal with Universal Studio Group  to develop a TV series inspired by his decades-spanning music catalog.

The Untitled Usher Project is described as a show "about Black love in Atlanta and individuals looking to find a place to call home... [It will] explore music, style, sex, romance and secrets that threaten to tear relationships apart," per the official description.

"My 30-year catalog has resonated with so many people no matter where they were in their lives," Usher said in a statement. "I'm happy to be working with UCP to bring the music to life. I hope the series resonates with you the way my music continues to."

The news comes just days after the eight-time Grammy winner hit the stage at Las Vegas' Allegiant Stadium on Sunday with fiery performances of his biggest hits, including "Caught Up," "You Don't Have to Call," "Love in This Club," "Confessions," "Let It Burn," "You Got It Bad" and more. TVLine readers gave his performance an average "C" grade.

The R&B superstar is coming off a wildly successful Las Vegas residency, which ran from July 2022 to December 2023. He released his ninth studio album Coming Home earlier this month, marking his first full-length musical project in eight years.
