TBS' Joe Schmo Show Reboot Sets January Premiere — Watch Trailer

Next month is now officially Joe-nuary. TBS has set a Tuesday, Jan. 21 (9/8c) premiere date for its reboot of The Joe Schmo Show, TVLine has learned.

Just like the original series, which aired for three seasons on Spike (R.I.P.!) between 2003 and 2013, the new Joe Schmo Show is a reality TV experiment in which one player believes that he's competing to win a $100,000 grand prize — completely unaware that his competitors are all "highly skilled improv comedians," according to TBS. This time around, the clueless player is a Baltimore-based electrician named Ben.

Hosted by Cat Deeley, the 10-episode season will document the team's behind-the-scenes process of tricking Ben into believing he's on a normal reality competition show, "something made more difficult by the increasingly over-the-top format of the show," TBS says. "With each challenge, the stakes grow higher as production is forced to pivot storylines, and castmates, who Ben sees as competition, improvise strategies to pave the path to his victory."

"The modern revival of The Joe Schmo Show is the perfect complement to TBS' best-in-class comedy lineup," Turner Networks president Jason Sarlanis said in a statement. "Filled with heart and hilarious reality game show hijinks, the series will completely immerse our audiences in the ruse, taking them on a wild ride and keeping them rooting for our protagonist week to week."
