Ted Lasso Officially Renewed For Season 4 — Jason Sudeikis Reveals New Storyline

It's official: AFC Richmond is heading into overtime.

Despite assumptions that Season 3 would be Ted Lasso's last, Apple TV+ has confirmed that the Jason Sudeikis comedy will, in fact, return for Season 4.

The renewal comes nearly two years after the release of the acclaimed comedy's presumed series finale, which dropped on May 31, 2023. That episode shipped Ted back to Kansas but set the stage for a potential continuation: Roy was installed as head coach of AFC Richmond, while Keeley pitched Rebecca on a potential women's team.

During an appearance on Travis and Jason Kelce's "New Heights" podcast Friday, Sudeikis confirmed that Season 4 would revolve around Ted coaching a women's team (see below). Meanwhile, in a statement put out by Apple, the man behind the iconic mustache offered the following tease: "As we all continue to live in a world where so many factors have conditioned us to 'look before we leap,' in Season 4, the folks at AFC Richmond learn to LEAP BEFORE THEY LOOK, discovering that wherever they land, it's exactly where they're meant to be."

Ted Lasso Season 4 adds Emmy Award winner Jack Burditt (Nobody Wants This, Modern Family, 30 Rock) as an executive producer. Sudeikis will continue to serve as an EP alongside fellow co-creators Brendan Hunt and Joe Kelly, and Bill Lawrence and Brett Goldstein.

A fourth season of Ted Lasso started to feel like a very real possibility in August 2024, when it was first reported that Warner Bros. Television had picked up the options on three series regulars — Goldstein (Roy Kent), Hannah Waddingham (Rebecca Welton) and Jeremy Swift (Leslie Higgins) — who had all previously been contracted under Equity, a UK acting union. The studio would then have to reach deals with SAG-AFTRA members, including Sudeikis, Hunt (Coach Willis Beard) and Juno Temple (Keeley Jones).

Other Season 3 series regulars included Phil Dunster (Jamie Tartt), Nick Mohammed (Nathan Shelley), Anthony Head (Rupert Mannion), Tobeeb Jimoh (Sam Obisanya), Cristo Fernandez (Dani Rojas), Kola Bokinni (Isaac McAdoo), Billy Harris (Colin Hughes) and James Lance (Trent Crimm).

No word yet on which cast members will (or will not) return, or when Season 4 will be released.
