In Survival Mode, Everyday People Revisit Extraordinary Disasters — Get NBC Premiere Date, First Teaser
NBC will shift into Survival Mode this summer, when it shares the real-life stories of those who have endured hurricanes, wildfires, train derailments and other crises.
Survival Mode — an NBC News Studios production premiering Monday, July 7 at 10/9c — follows everyday people through harrowing moments, "when every split-second decision can mean the difference between life and death," TVLine can exclusively share, along with the first teaser seen above.
Each episode details "the unforgettable stories of friends, families and first responders who suddenly find themselves in the midst of a terrifying disaster and help each other survive."
The Maui Wildfires, the Derailment of Amtrak 501, Superstorm Sandy and the sinking of Costa Concordia are just a few of the real-life disasters revisited in the nine-episode series, as told through "raw, real-life accounts of survivors and footage" from the events.

The series premiere covers the devastating Hurricane Ian and how three groups of Fort Myers residents chose to stay face the deadliest storm to hit Florida in generations, "with harrowing consequences."
"At NBC News Studios, we're always looking for powerful new ways to tell real stories — and Survival Mode is exactly that," says Liz Cole, President of NBC News Studios and senior EP of Dateline NBC. "These are gripping, uplifting accounts of everyday people facing unthinkable danger and finding the strength to overcome it. The series celebrates quick thinking, resilience and the incredible ability to make it through extraordinary circumstances."
