Spartacus: House Of Ashur Sets Starz Premiere Date — Plus, See New Photos And Watch Bloody-Good Trailer

What if Ashur hadn't died on Mount Vesuvius at the end of Spartacus: Vengeance? That's one of the questions Starz's new sequel series Spartacus: House of Ashur will aim to answer, with Nick Tarabay reprising his role as the titular Syrian slave. And now, we finally know when the sequel series will be making its violent return.

The gladiator drama will premiere Friday, Dec. 5 with two episodes (time slot TBA), the cabler announced Thursday. New installments will then debut weekly on Fridays on all Starz streaming and on-demand platforms. Fresh photos of the bloody battles ahead were also revealed, which include new shots of the surprising warrior who fights them. (View them below; watch the trailer above.)

The cabler calls Ashur an "epic new saga which re-imagines possibilities and turns of fate from the original fan-favorite series." The official description continues: "Spartacus: House of Ashur will be a history-bending, erotic, thrilling, rollercoaster experience that builds on everything that made the original series a colossal hit." It will also pose another hypothetical: "What if [Ashur] had been gifted the gladiator school once owned by Batiatus in return for aiding the Romans in killing Spartacus and putting an end to the slave rebellion?"

The sequel series — which will be showrun and executive-produced by franchise vet Steven S. DeKnight — will also star Outlander's Graham McTavish as Korris, Ashur's Doctore. In addition, Lucy Lawless will guest-star in the premiere, reprising her Spartacus role of Lucretia. Lawless made her franchise debut in Spartacus: Blood and Sand and later appeared in spinoffs Spartacus: Gods of the Arena and Spartacus: Vengeance.

Additional cast includes Tenika Davis (Jupiter's Legacy) as Achillia, Jordi Webber (Choose Love) as Tarchon, Jamaica Vaughan (Home and Away) as Hilara, Ivana Baquero (Pan's Labyrinth) as Messia, Claudia Black (Ahsoka) as Cossutia, India Shaw-Smith (Supernatural) as Viridia, Jackson Gallagher (Neighbours) as Caesar, Jaime Slater (Pacific Rim: Uprising) as Cornelia, and Leigh Gill (Game of Thrones) as Satyrus.
