Well, you waited this long for the first-ever three-way NCIS universe crossover event. And now you will need to hold on juuuust a bit longer.[pmc_inline_gallery]
As announced tonight, during CBS‘ coverage of the National Christmas Tree Lighting, the NCIS/ NCIS: Hawaii/ NCIS: Los Angeles one-night crossover event will now air Monday, Jan. 9, starting at 8/7c — a week later than originally planned.
In the opening NCIS episode, title “Too Many Cooks,” agents from Washington, D.C., Los Angeles and Hawai’i — all in D.C. to attend the retirement party of a beloved FLETC instructor — find themselves jointly investigating his shocking suicide. NCIS: Los Angeles‘ Chris O’Donnell and LL Cool J, and NCIS: Hawai’i‘s Vanessa Lachey and Noah Mills, guest-star.
Next up, in the NCIS: Hawai’i episode “Deep Fake,” Jane Tennant, Jimmy Palmer (NCIS‘ Brian Dietzen) and Sam Hanna (NCIS: Los Angeles‘ LL Cool J) find themselves captured with a CIA agent needing intel from the team, while Jesse, Ernie, Whistler and Alden Parker (NCIS‘ Gary Cole) learn about an asset that arrived in the Aloha State who could be connected to several assassinations. NCIS: Los Angeles‘ Chris O’Donnell also guest-stars.
Closing things out that night at 10/9c, in the NCIS: LA episode “A Long Time Coming,” while Agent Rountree and Fatima are searching for an MIA Kilbride, they are ambushed and learn that every member of the team has a $200,000 bounty on their head via the dark web. NCIS‘ Gary Cole and Wilmer Valderrama, and NCIS: Hawai’i‘s Vanessa Lachey and Yasmine Al-Bustami, guest-star.

So somebody at CBS had a fit of sanity and realized that the day after New Year’s, when college bowl games are still going on, would be a terrible day to air a high-profile three-way crossover?
This move is actually worse in that regard. It is now on the night of the college football national championship game.
May i ask why?
Not one mention of Daniel Ruah or Eric Christian Olsen in any of the crossover episodes??? What is going on?
They’re in the pictures though, so I’m assuming they’re in at least one of the crossover episodes.
They probably don’t crossover, and are just in LA’s portion. They also don’t mention McGee, Knight, or Kasie, but I guarantee they’ll be in the first part.
Did they finally realize that if it was on the 2nd they wouldn’t have any chance to promote it with all the talk shows being off air the week before and that Monday was the actual New Year’s holiday?
Opposite the CFP Championship game? Illogical. Jan 2 usually is a good night for TV because more ppl at home than usual after the long Xmas/NY’s week.
They are now airing it directly against the college football national championship game.
That will hurt the ratings.
Might as well push it back to the 16th…now you’re going against the CFP championship
Most people have DVRs so being on opposite the football final not big deal.
The bigger deal is the ho hum plot line of some baddie gunning for the NCIS team. Yawn!!!
If that’s true, then try airing this crossover against the Super Bowl LOL
Love the line when they say first ever. Most fans realize this was done with NO instead of Hawaii many times. 🙄
Three shows at once…? I must have missed that week.
It was never done while NO was on the air as it only crossed over with the original NCIS, not LA.
When will NCIS Los Angeles return on TV weekly like the rest of the NCIS shows?
The answer is here, confirmed to have not changed:

This crossover is an attempt to keep the show alive. Many previous viewers are disappointed with the numerous cast changes and not so great writing. Please let NCIS end. The entire season has been substandard. I don’t think a crossover can help.
Actually the show is really likeable since Mark Harmon left. I don’t miss him now but he needed to go anyhow. His character Gibbs had been moody and rigid the past few or so seasons. Maybe, it was script intentional or maybe Mark use it as an excuse to leave. Clearly something in Mark’s life led him to make a decision to leave and I respect that. Fans should because it is getting better and better by each episode. If it left I have no reason to watch CBS or have Paramount+ outside of CSI: Vegas, Young Sheldon, Ghost and Criminal Minds: Evolution not counting The Price Is Right but it’s okay since they got a “too-radical” make-over. The television landscape is changing we need to move with it but this show NCIS is still ever-evolving with stories and cast changes as with actual people in everyday life. Except it. Support it. Enjoy it…while it lasts.
May as well push it even further to February for Sweeps at this point.
“Sweeps” not really a thing no more.
Well, when are broadcast programs supposed to achieve the highest viewership of their seasons, then?
National football championship, watch it, record NCIS ‘s. Geez, simple
Can’t wait for this Crossover! But, they didn’t have to postpone it. It is all about creating excitement and ratings.
Hi, Matt: Quick question…
Is this really your quote: “A nice team-up for Fatima (Medalion Rahimi) and Lucy (Yasmine Al-Bustami), and what I will call ‘a very satisfying audio Easter egg’ for the fans of one of the three shows.”
If it is…First, I agree that is a great team-up!
Second, that ﹰEaster egg tease is too vague. Lol Anymore information you can share? Is that a reference to Kacy on NCIS: Hawai’i? Perhaps? 😊
