Donald Trump Appoints Apprentice Producer Mark Burnett As Special Envoy To UK

British producer Mark Burnett, who helped Donald Trump reach international fame with the reality TV series The Apprentice, has been appointed by the president-elect as a special envoy to the UK.

"It is my great honor to appoint Mark Burnett as the Special Envoy to the United Kingdom," Trump wrote on Truth Social. "With a distinguished career in television production and business, Mark brings a unique blend of diplomatic acumen and international recognition to this important role."

In his announcement, Trump mentioned Burnett's 13 career Emmy wins, adding that he is "known for creating and producing some of the biggest shows in television history including Survivor, Shark Tank, The Voice and, most notably, The Apprentice."

Burnett will "continue to enhance diplomatic relations," according to Trump, "focusing on areas of mutual interest, including trade, investment opportunities. and cultural exchanges."

The Apprentice ran on NBC from 2004-2016 with Trump hosting from the boardroom of Trump Tower in New York City. The president-elect hosted the program for 14 seasons, including seven runs that featured celebrities competing for charity. Burnett also executive-produced two installments that did not feature Trump: 2005's The Apprentice: Martha Stewart and 2017's The New Celebrity Apprentice.

Burnett's other TV credits include Are You Smarter Than a Celebrity?, Are You Smarter Than a Fifth Grader?, The Contender and Bully Beatdown.
