CBS is sticking it to the Man: The Eye network has cancelled the Matt LeBlanc-fronted sitcom Man With a Plan after four seasons, TVLine has learned.
The family comedy launched its current fourth season on April 2, filling CBS’ Thursday-at-8:30 void left by Walton Goggins’ rookie entry The Unicorn (which has been renewed, along with 22 other series).
Man With a Plan joins Carol’s Second Act, Broke, Tommy and God Friended Me in CBS’ cancellation heap.
Through this season’s first seven airings, Man With a Plan is averaging a 0.73 demo rating and 6.2 million total viewers (in Live+Same Day numbers), down 16 percent in the demo versus last year while delivering a 17-percent bigger audience. Among the eight comedies CBS has aired this TV season, it ranks fifth in the demo and No. 4 in total audience.
Man With a Plan stars Friends vet LeBlanc as Adam Burns, a contractor who picks up the slack at home when his wife (Yes, Dear‘s Liza Snyder) returns to work. Kevin Nealon (Weeds), Stacy Keach (Two and a Half Men) and Matt Cook (Clipped) co-star.
TVLine’s 2020 Renewal Scorecard has been updated to reflect Man With a Plan‘s cancellation.
NOOOOO!!!!!! Tell me it’s not so. I love this show. I thought it was so funny. I’m going to go cry now.
No No,Why are they going? I loved that show……
I hear you too. I feel the same way.
why did they cancel outnumbered and man with a plan!?? These were great!!!!! We need those laughs ….grrrr..im done
Man with a plan, I’m so sad.
Sure, cancel all the good shows in favor of fluff. That’s it, I am moving back to the 70’s!!!
I agree with you 100%I agree with all these commentsWe need good family value shows and these are it and they make us laugh at a time we all need to other than cry
Oh CBS is the worst. I loved that show. It was one of the funniest shows on TV. Why do they do that? What in the the world are they going to replace it with. Something stupid I am sure.
“Why do they do that?” Same reason pretty much any show gets cancelled. Ratings. If they are not making money and getting the needed ratings, why would they renew it? That would just be bad business. Quality of the show is irrelevant.
Please give this show a full season. I think the ratings would be so much better if you started in Oct. Not at midseason. Please listen to your audience for once!!!!
Why would the cancel this show it is so funny and intertaining my daughters and I love this show. One of the best family shows I seen by far.
I agree those mid season starts can kill a good show it’s mismanagement of there programming not the quality of the show I know I kept waiting on it to start back mid season so I went online and found out some idiots canceled it. This was a quality show the whole family could watch and enjoy. It was entertaining and funny.
Totally agree with you on that
I am not Happy ! LOVE this show ! One of the few Comedies I actually watch ! Love Mom & Man with A Plan ! Please reconsider @CBS
I agree man with a plan is a great show. Come on CBS. Try moving it!! Hope a smaterial network picks it up!!
I agree! Bring it back! We need good comedies more than ever!
Wow, wasn’t expecting this one.
Really enjoyed this show. CBS did a “WKRP” “Just SHoot ME” and “New Adventures of Old Christine” job on this series. Never consistent scheduling, always on the second season replacing a cancelled show, and too many pauses between season. What a shame!
Rules of engagement belongs on that list too.
We LOVED that show too! Always always funny!
The show itself has changed BIG time from the first season. Remember when he was in charge of the kids because the wife was going back to work? That was the whole premise of the show! Now she never goes to work. You can go several esp before seeing one of their kids….they use to be in every ep. He was helping out at the little kid’s school…that’s where he met lowell. He had fun convos with the teacher.
Now….it’s a show about Matt’s character always trying to one over his wife, his brother and dad help, lowell is the voice of caution, it’s sometimes set at Matt’s character’s job, and then the wife.found out….after talking to her MIL and SIL.
You are exactly right. Moving the show around and changing the premise and especially not including the kids consistently put the show under. They’ll probably put on some reality garbage.
Reality shows cost little to make, that’s why networks love them.
Just Shoot Me was on NBC
well put!!
Whenever shows start the season when most others are ending (example, Life in Pieces), it is a sure sign the network is trying to kill it off.
Agreed.
I know believe that those who run CBS programming have lost their minds! I’ve watched (and enjoyed) all of the shows on the CBS rubble pile. Did they ever consider the day and time slot, and maybe try putting it somewhere else (like Monday where it used to run) before canning it? “Broke” broke the whole neighborhood!
*now
This is such a funny show. I laugh out loud every time I watch it. Have enjoyed watching this show from day one.
Young Sheldon, Man With A Plan, Mom and the Neighborhood what a great line up!!!!!!
I want Man With A Plan!!!!
Good! Free LaBlanc from this; he deserves something better
👍sure hope he moves to a new network.
This wasn’t a bad show. Now that Mat isn’t doing this show maybe Episodes will be resurrected. He was in Episodes and that was a hilarious show.
You finally get a great show then you cancel it to bad we just cant cancel CBS on that’s right I can cause you cancel great shows and then a BS news
I’m really disappointed in the man with a plan cancellation… It was a really cute show and I enjoyed watching it.. Also wondering about bluff city law…Another enjoyable show that just Disappeared! Thanks
Another good show cancelled! What are you doing???? You’re dropping in my best station category!
Oh no, that’s such a disappointment. My sisters and I watch this show with our dad and we prefer this comedy much more than some of the others CBS has offered up so far.
One of the few I’d watch with my dad. No swearing and very little embarrassingsex comments. Plus the base town was Pittsburgh where I grew up!
What a BUMMER!! I really like this show!! The cast is great, the writing is over all funny. And it was so nice to see a normal looking couple who genuinely like AND love each other and are still into each other!!! Stinks :-(
I am so sad! This was one of the only shows on tv we watched as a family! It’s always so funny. How disappointing.
No! Love this show!
This is baloney. Man with a plan is hilarious. As for Broke, it just started and already cancelled. I thoroughly enjoy Tommy. Very disappointed in CBS’S CHOICES.GUESS I WILL WATCH A DIFFERENT CHANNEL.
Why cancel Tommy. Definitely one of the better shows on the air.
I LOVE THIS SHOW! IT’S SO FUNNY AND ANYONE CAN WATCH, SO SAD!! PLEASE DON’T CANCEL!!!!
Fox Network please save the show like you saved Last Man Standing
I’d love to see this over at Fox back to back with LMS. Maybe even a crossover!
That’s a great show! Refreshing not to hear a cuss word every 5 minutes! Bad move!
This show is so funny. With all the crap on tv, the people at CBS are severely lacking in intelligence and, obviously, the ability to laugh and recognize such a funny show.
Don’t cancel this show it is good
We need good shows.
Please reconsider this.
Man with a Plan is so good. Broke & Carols Second Act good riddens
You have got to be kidding! I love that show! Please don’t cancel it!
