Marvel Is 'Exploring' Returns For Luke Cage, Jessica Jones And Iron Fist — Plus, A Daredevil Scheduling Update

Defenders, re-assemble!...?

Ahead of Daredevil: Born Again's Tuesday, March 4 premiere on Disney+, there is fresh buzz that Matt Murdock's fellow street-level heroes might also be en route back to the small screen.

Marvel's Daredevil, led by Charlie Cox, premiered in April 2015 on Netflix and ran for three seasons. Marvel's Jessica Jones, starring Krysten Ritter, came next, debuting in November 2015 and lasting three seasons itself. Marvel's Luke Cage, fronted by Mike Colter, bowed in September 2016 and flexed its muscle for two seasons, while Marvel's Iron Fist, with Finn Jones in the title role of Danny Rand, launched in March 2017 and (somehow) also lasted two seasons.

Netflix's rollout of street-level, MCU-adjacent heroes also begat two seasons of Marvel's The Punisher (starring Jon Bernthal), plus the August 2017 team-up miniseries Marvel's The Defenders.

Years before Marvel Studios would reclaim the reins on its TV projects, Netflix got to powering down its roster of heroes, cancelling Iron Fist and Luke Cage in October 2018, Daredevil in November 2018, and then Jessica Jones (and The Punisher) in February 2019.

But with Cox, Vincent D'Onofrio and other Marvel's Daredevil cast members reprising their roles for Disney+'s Daredevil: Born Again revival-of-sorts — and with a video recently making rounds of Krysten Ritter in the gym... training for something? — many are wondering if Jessica, Luke and/or Danny might also earn an encore somewhere in the MCU.

"I can't say much, but I'll tell you that it's so exciting to be able to play in that sandbox," Brad Winderbaum, head of streaming, television and animation for Marvel Studios, told EW.com.

"Obviously we don't have the unlimited storytelling resources like a comic book," he added, dealing as live-action productions must "with actors and time and the massive scale of production in order to build a cinematic universe, especially on television. But I can just say that... it is certainly something that is creatively extremely exciting and that we are very much exploring."

DAREDEVIL: BORN AGAIN DOUBLES UP!

The release pattern for the final three episodes of Daredevil: Born Again Season 1 remains TBA, with Andor's Season 2 premiere looming on Tuesday, April 22.
