Jason David Frank's Daughter Honors Late Power Rangers Actor In Birthday Tribute: 'I Still Can't Believe You're Gone'
On what would have been Jason David Frank's 50th birthday, the late actor's daughter Jenna Frank marked the milestone with a touching social media tribute.
"I can't put my pain into words. I still can't believe you're gone," Jenna wrote on Instagram Monday, alongside photos of her with her dad. "I was with you on your birthday last year. I picked you up at the airport you were so happy to see me. You are my book to life, you taught me everything I know. You are more than just my dad. You are my very best friend, my partner in crime, my brother. You are everything in one.
"We struggled with the same mental problems," she continued. "You always understood me when nobody else did. I WILL win this battle for you. I will break the curse. I promise. Happy 50th b-day pops! You always would tell me I'm your biggest angel. Now you're mine."
Jason's death was first reported in November 2022 and was later confirmed by his wife Tammie to have been the result of suicide. Prior to Jason's passing, he and Tammie had been considering separating (as she detailed to People), but they decided to rekindle their relationship after encouragement from a family friend. During a two-night getaway they took in November of last year, Jason ended his life, and police ultimately found him deceased in his hotel room.
"It was meant to be a fun weekend getaway, and instead, I lost the love of my life," Tammie said at the time. "Jason was a good man, but he was not without his demons. He was human, just like the rest of us... All we want is to remember Jason and our happiest memories, and move on from the pain of losing a loved one."
Jason starred as Tommy Oliver on Mighty Morphin Power Rangers' original run, which lasted from Aug. 28, 1993 until Nov. 27, 1995. It was on the air for three seasons, and amassed a total of 145 episodes. While his role as the Green Ranger was originally only set for 14 episodes, Jason was so popular with fans of the show that the actor was brought back as the White Ranger and the team's new leader for the remainder of the series.
